To be fair to Azazel, the Mishima blood is kinda op. Heihachi has zero traces of the devil gene and has repeatedly taken on both true devil kazuya, Akuma, and devil KAZUMI Kazuya has the devil gen and MISHIMA Blood stacked on top of each other. He's kinda cracked
yeah, azazel may have been strong in the past and even rivalling ogre but the two of them now pale in comparison to the mishima clan and other more unexplored clans like the kazama and hachijo which are are still not explored.
I wonder if Mishima Blood is somehow related to Devil Gene. Since Azazel has those same electric hit effects that even Kazumi didn't quite have. That would also explain why Jinpachi and Reina can have devil-like forms.

Jin's nightmares came from Jinpachi's resurfacing and corruption in Hon'Maru. The "Kazuya wanting his other half thing" is a detail dropped on us in an era where Devil was still somewhat a otherworldly phenomenon that Kazuya made a deal with rather than this grandiose Egyptian curse it became. You can clearly see that either different people write each entry after or the lack of hindsight expands with each game after they got rid of Ogre. An example of such is how Tekken 8 is when Jin finally gains control of his Devil self, despite his Tekken 4 ending signifying this happens much earlier with the lone white feather that falls in the light. I think that Kazuya or Jin’s Devil Gene isn’t really gone, it might be something similar to Jin losing almost of his devil energy in chapter 2 so in other words, they’re just not gonna be able to tap into their devil forms temporarily.
Naw it's gone. Jin couldn't tap into it because he rejected it when he was in the water. This is not that anymore. They used up all the power in their fight. In kazuya ending he felt nothing of it anymore. That's because Reina has it now. She's the new vessel

I can explain the 50% stuff of Kazuya saying in Tekken 4. You see by that time the lore wasn't devil gene but the devil himself, because Kazuya would have made a pact with the devil and when Kazuya died the devil tried to get to Jin, but due to Jun's power he only was able to reach Jin after she disappeared (at that time we thought that she died but technically we never had any confirmation or body...), which we can see when Jin gets his famous tattoo. And on that dialogue on Tekken 4 we learn that only half of the devil went to Jin which is why he is after Jin on 4 to get it back however on that moment Kazuya is able to overpower the Devil and make the Devil a part of himself. But that eventually changed to devil gene which could potentially still be that Kazuya had made a pact with the devil and Jin had a devil gene because he is Kazuya son but T6 with Azazel and T7 with Kazumi set it as genetics. Now if that means that on each pearson with the devil gene they have a entity that is Azazel or the Devil on them is pretty weird to know so far. And even why the Kazama bloodline has angelic or purification energy to nullify that. Specially when you consider Dragunov non canon ending on T5 DR where we see they trying to extract something out of Jin into a tube - which by the time we could try to logically explain that it was the half of the Devil that was on Jin but that is no longer the case since genetics.

@@Weeknighttekken’s lore is inconsistent af, they’ll come up with one of the most interesting storylines for a character that’s either a Mishima or not a Mishima but next thing you’ll know is that they’d drop that storyline in the next game or even at some later part of their story.
Something I believe is that Kazuya didn't have any clue about the DG and because Heihachi was tight lipped about it, he just assumed that he made a devil with a litteral devil but the DG can create a split personality if the carrier is not at peace with their desires. It was only went Kazuya become evil enough that his devil persona faded away and he gained complete control over himself. Another thing is that in a lot of non-canon ending and even in Tekken 8, it's confirmed that DG carriers can absorb power from each other and Kazuya erroneously assumed that he was at half power when Jin was born, most likely because Jun's powers messed with him and the fact that Angel was part of his subconscious for a time because of the Kazama powers. Going further it's likely that since Jun "fought" the devil in her womb it's possible that the DG was attempting to infect her, and since she IS Unknown in TT2 she most likely is a what-if scenario of her failing to overcome the DG can become corrupted by it.

Noone really suspected Kazuya would jump on Zafina. It was Kazuya's plan to lure her out by using Jin and Jin is too stupid to realize hes too weak to fight Kazuya with his mental state.
Dont forget they Namco even bothered to add him in Tekken Tag 2, the game with litterally every single Tekken character of all previous games, including the other non-playable bosses like Jinpachi and Unknow.

I’ve always imagined Azazel as this entity that can take on many forms, as he’s basically an entity who’s physical form is what he makes. Is this true? No, but this is how I’d write him, not a perfect villain, while still being intriguing compared to what we have in canon.
In the story it is said he exists on a higher plane above our own and beyond our laws though he needed the negative energy to form a physical body to exist on our world.
Azazel, the Devil Gene progenitor made short work of by Lars, Jin and Kazuya. Keep in mind that both Jin and Kazuya have their devil genes (though both are not at full power) yet both of them are also disciplined in martial arts.

For those who don’t know its insinuated by the japanese painting at the end of act one that the Mishima been around since the devil and have been combatting it you have to realize the m cell is almost as strong as the devil gene itself and kaz has both making him able to fight azazel. That lightning punch to azazel punch probably was mixture of that and lazer

2:04 Oh! So that's why in Tekken 8 everyone looked over Jin basically starting WWIII. He was actually trying to make it the War to end all Wars. Though to be fair, Jin was practically borderline suicidal by that point.
In Azazel's defense, he was at his prime in Tekken 6, but since he was physically destroyed by Jin and was sealed up by Zafina, just go be released a year or two by Kazuya, he was strong, but Kazuya surpassed him due to how stronger he's gotten. Edit: the whole part of Kazuya gor possessed by Devil out of nowhere got me laughing and scared too when i first seen that in Tekken 4. If i was in Heihachi's situation seeing my evil son gotten possessed out of nowhere, i would be scared too lol
Azazel in the lore is no joke, he was gonna wipe humanity out and destroy the world, Lars didn’t even beat him at his full power (Lars is no joke as seen in 8), it was just Jin who did with his own devil power, and Kazuya who has surpassed him with his growth in his devil powers above Jin who was the one who beat Azazel so it makes sense.
Maybe Azazel is weak because he has more than one descendant alive (at least three: Kazuya Jin and Reina), same rules as kazuya “losing” a bit of himself
To be fair in stories where the power of friendship/desire to protect is an actual tangible power it tends to be the ultimate invincible power. So losing to it's nothing to sneeze.
I think the problem is that he didn’t really have any cool feats of strength like you see Kazuya having. He basically gets beat up, tells people he powered up, and then gets beat up again immediately after lol

Wasn't there a mention that the devil gene's powers are as strong as your desire? The way I saw it, it's because jin and kazuya both have stronger desires/will. They both could overpower the originator or the devil gene. Or absorb in kazuya's case. At it this made sense to me. And Azazel is just a plot point anyway. At least he wasn't a one, done and forgotten plot point.
His ost in T6 was beautiful, kinda sad how fast he was dealt with in T8 I get what they were going for but they should've just kept him gone if this was their way of bringing him back.

To be fair Lars only beat the weaker base form of Azazel and not his strongest form like Jin. Shinnok did a lot of good in MKX cuz even with the Green Halo Johnny didn’t defeat him just won a fight which then continued which Raiden defeated shinnok with his own amulet, the real insult was Cassie Cage with the Green Halo somehow beating Corrupted Shinnok when Johnny couldn’t even knock out normal shinnok that was so fucked bad, much worse than Azazel. Shao Kahn was decent for most of MK11 he was struggling with Kotal which wouldn’t be bad if kotal didn’t get jobbed a lot later, he just didn’t do much sadly, and at the end he lost to Kitana which I like her being Kahn yet it should of been a team effort much like how the combat kids should of worked together with Cassie using the green halo to beat base shinnok to make it less dumb tbh. But aftermath did better with Shao Kahn yet it was Shang Tsung’s run mostly lol
The devil gene is little more than a symbol to Jin and Kazuya. A curse to be exorcised and a birthright to be fulfilled, but neither of them feel particularly strongly about it's destruction in the end.
Azazel was fooled twice. First Azazel thought it convinced Jin and it seems that way when he started the war in Tekken 6. So, after Azazel reveal itself and tried to side with Jin, Jin attacked and “killed” Azazel. Azazel survived from the fight against Jin. In Tekken 8, it was summoned by Kazuya. Azazel wish to reward him and allow him to be the servant. Kazuya refused as he only summoned it to take its powers for himself. Azazel isnt really bright for someone who is the main devil itself.

My thoughts exactly. If you wanted to reintroduced Azazel in 8 only to get rid of him immediately, you could at least bring the tag mechanic back for 1 fight where you play as Claudio & Yoshimitsu to weaken him & then have Kazuya swoop in at the last minute to play his part.

I was certain Azazel had lore, but when i played Tekken 6, i felt more focus was put on the mashima war then the final boss. Arcade mode was possibly worse cause most characters dont even acknowledge Azazel.
The theme of _Tekken_ is how cool the Mishimas are, therefore, it's perfectly good for an ancient Egyptian demon to be a jobber for Mishimas. An ancient Egyptian demon doesn't have to win just because it's ancient, or the ultimate source of the plot device.
Its the source of what makes them cool tho. And the powers they have are just passed down fractions of what little AZ gave to his servants which is diluted every generation but Kaz beats him even so with little effort.

People are leaning on this theory as it is most likely, because Heihachi likes to mess around with otherworldly powers.
Originally the devil's power would travel when the original user lost it's power. Kazuya dying gave it to Jin. Jin and kazuya losing it would give it to Reina. But idk man shit don't make sense no more. Tekken 7 fucked alot of shit up

I don't get why Azazel's even in this game, Jin still has the devil mark at the end. Kazuya still has dark power elcetric attacks, I doubt they have their devil gene cured. I mean it's already established that Kazuya in Tekken 7, yes the game literally before, had true devil Kazuya as an adaptable form. Azazel serves no narrative purpose, and Kazuya's cool ass devil design was swapped for a power ranger villain outfit to fight what was imo a pretty cool Angel Jin.

Azazeal wasn’t at full power when he was awakened Jin sped up the process for him to be awakened like a couple 100 years earlier than what it was supposed to be also in the hieroglyphics it also shows that Mishima were bestowed they’re powers n strength by the gods fujin n raijin so while yes kazuyas full potential with his devil gene was stunted due to Jin the it didn’t really matter since his a mashima n they get stronger pretty after every fight they’re in even heiachi was able to beat a pure blood devil gene user that’s lived longer than him so yea the mashima bloodline is absurdly powerful and then gene managed to go even further with adding the purification abilities of the kazama clan on top of his abilities with the devil gene n as a mashima so know azazel was disrespected just nothing u can do when ur fighting hybrids of the most powerful bloodlines in existence especially when ur constantly getting weakened n sealed meanwhile these mfs are getting vastly stronger with multiple near death fights n u always gotta use that energy to bust out
While I do still like the whole idea of the Devil Gene I do prefer when the story was Kazuya made a pack with the Devil. It being retconned to being a gene trait is still cool cause outside of like 2 moments it makes sense still and those moments are when you seen Jin get branded in one of the Tekken 3 openings and Kazuya’s comment about losing half himself in Tekken 4. I wish they brought back the Tag 1 design for Devil Kazuya that was peak.

In Tekken 4 yes that’s Devil possessing Kazuya but the reality is until they merged they was always 2 entities possessing the same body so honestly it’s interchangeable on the name you say cause it doesn’t change much unless you explaining it to someone that doesn’t know about the story and you don’t wanna confuse them. People forget the subtle fact that Mishimas are supposed to be descendants of the storm and thunder God Raijin. Is implied in lots of their attacks, the hair, the electric powers the have etc... Plus demons in shintoism are not all powerful, same as gods, they can be killed. They are more powerfull that humans tho, but not invincible and Japan loves stories about killing gods and demons. So Mishimas been able to handle Azazel is not that far fetched, knowing that the probably have the blood of a god anyway lol Jun almost killed Ogre, the god of fighting. She was badly injured yes, but she weaked him a lot, we don´t know form where the Kazama clan came from, but they can surpress devils and evil entities with not much effort. That´s why Jin could beat Kaz with angel powers. It was his half Kazama blood too.

Wait I just thought about it. If Kazuya's devil lost half of himself when he passed it on to Jin, does that mean Kazumi lost half her devil with Kazuya? Does that mean Kazuya's devil was only half baked in the first place and having Jin means he's really only got a quarter of a devil in him? Assuming this happens with every generation, how watered down was the devil gene by the time Kazuya came along???
And then we get to Reina, who I can only imagine was grown in a test tube from Kazumi's DNA (which I'm gonna assume is from some hair or something, unless heihachi was just 'like that' and swiped some of her eggs before she died). So, that being said, and if the devil gene is truly passed on by someone's devil giving a piece of themselves, did Kazumi's devil just drop a piece of himself in whatever bs piece of her that heihachi used to make Reina? ...unless Heihachi kept Kazumi's body around and actually did steal her eggs (or just the rest of her devil) post mortem and use that... Anyway, I say all that to say; I'm way too high for this and Kazuya never should've made that a plot point
Azazel in Tekken 6 was so cheap. His rng was also super inconsistent. Sometimes you would beat him first try, other times he would perma spam all his spikes, mosquitos n sht and you would not be able to even get one hit in.
I liked his and Jinpachi's designs back then. Both reminded me of Doomsday from DC comics. At least Jinpachi losing to Jin made sense. The latter both beat Kazuya and Heihachi. Azazel turned into a jobber and a meme. Everytime Zafina does that "must not f@p" pose when Azazel tries to break out from her arm.

I believe that the Devil gene can be trained like a muscle. That’s why Kaz could eventually defeat Azazel even if he only had half his Devil gene, he’d been using his in combat to the point he could utilize it in full effortlessly on command by 8.
This is exactly why i honestly hate most media nowadays that involve big monster creatures. They're all so cool but literally are only created as plot devices to get beat up my the main protagonist. Yeah, I'm thinking the same thing. Very few non-humans get to be heroes in a lot of stories too. I think a lot of authors for some reason have an obsession with depicting humans as the only ones you should root for, or depicting humans as the only thing the audience should relate to. Jin's nightmares came from Jinpachi's resurfacing and corruption in Hon'Maru. The "Kazuya wanting his other half thing" is a detail dropped on us in an era where Devil was still somewhat a otherworldly phenomenon that Kazuya made a deal with rather than this grandiose Egyptian curse it became. You can clearly see that either different people write each entry after or the lack of hindsight expands with each game after they got rid of Ogre. An example of such is how Tekken 8 is when Jin finally gains control of his Devil self, despite his Tekken 4 ending signifying this happens much earlier with the lone white feather that falls in the light. Everything else I agree with. Something like Azazel (on paper) should not be easily dispatched lol
By tekken 4 they introduced the devil gene and did away with the idea of Kazuya making a deal with a demon.

I think that Kazuya or Jin’s Devil Gene isn’t really gone, it might be something similar to Jin losing almost of his devil energy in chapter 2 so in other words, they’re just not gonna be able to tap into their devil forms temporarily.
Naw it's gone. Jin couldn't tap into it because he rejected it when he was in the water. This is not that anymore. They used up all the power in their fight. In kazuya ending he felt nothing of it anymore. That's because Reina has it now. She's the new vessel

I can explain the 50% stuff of Kazuya saying in Tekken 4. You see by that time the lore wasn't devil gene but the devil himself, because Kazuya would have made a pact with the devil and when Kazuya died the devil tried to get to Jin, but due to Jun's power he only was able to reach Jin after she disappeared (at that time we thought that she died but technically we never had any confirmation or body...), which we can see when Jin gets his famous tattoo. And on that dialogue on Tekken 4 we learn that only half of the devil went to Jin which is why he is after Jin on 4 to get it back however on that moment Kazuya is able to overpower the Devil and make the Devil a part of himself. But that eventually changed to devil gene which could potentially still be that Kazuya had made a pact with the devil and Jin had a devil gene because he is Kazuya son but T6 with Azazel and T7 with Kazumi set it as genetics.
Now if that means that on each pearson with the devil gene they have a entity that is Azazel or the Devil on them is pretty weird to know so far. And even why the Kazama bloodline has angelic or purification energy to nullify that. Specially when you consider Dragunov non canon ending on T5 DR where we see they trying to extract something out of Jin into a tube - which by the time we could try to logically explain that it was the half of the Devil that was on Jin but that is no longer the case since genetics.

@@Weeknighttekken’s lore is inconsistent af, they’ll come up with one of the most interesting storylines for a character that’s either a Mishima or not a Mishima but next thing you’ll know is that they’d drop that storyline in the next game or even at some later part of their story.
Something I believe is that Kazuya didn't have any clue about the DG and because Heihachi was tight lipped about it, he just assumed that he made a devil with a litteral devil but the DG can create a split personality if the carrier is not at peace with their desires. It was only went Kazuya become evil enough that his devil persona faded away and he gained complete control over himself.
Another thing is that in a lot of non-canon ending and even in Tekken 8, it's confirmed that DG carriers can absorb power from each other and Kazuya erroneously assumed that he was at half power when Jin was born, most likely because Jun's powers messed with him and the fact that Angel was part of his subconscious for a time because of the Kazama powers.
Going further it's likely that since Jun "fought" the devil in her womb it's possible that the DG was attempting to infect her, and since she IS Unknown in TT2 she most likely is a what-if scenario of her failing to overcome the DG can become corrupted by it.
The pact with the devil story was superior in every way

5:51 Yes.. she was gonna provide a massive intel to the main group. She's literally their oracle. She was gonna tell Jin to come back to his home so he can find a way to defeat Kazuya. Noone really suspected Kazuya would jump on Zafina. It was Kazuya's plan to lure her out by using Jin and Jin is too stupid to realize hes too weak to fight Kazuya with his mental state.
Dont forget they Namco even bothered to add him in Tekken Tag 2, the game with litterally every single Tekken character of all previous games, including the other non-playable bosses like Jinpachi and Unknow.
Tbf, trying to balance Azazel would be a little tougher than say Unknown, True Ogre, o even Jinpachi.

I’ve always imagined Azazel as this entity that can take on many forms, as he’s basically an entity who’s physical form is what he makes. Is this true? No, but this is how I’d write him, not a perfect villain, while still being intriguing compared to what we have in canon.
In the story it is said he exists on a higher plane above our own and beyond our laws though he needed the negative energy to form a physical body to exist on our world.
Azazel, the Devil Gene progenitor made short work of by Lars, Jin and Kazuya. Keep in mind that both Jin and Kazuya have their devil genes (though both are not at full power) yet both of them are also disciplined in martial arts.

For those who don’t know its insinuated by the japanese painting at the end of act one that the Mishima been around since the devil and have been combatting it you have to realize the m cell is almost as strong as the devil gene itself and kaz has both making him able to fight azazel. That lightning punch to azazel punch probably was mixture of that and lazer
Also jin has the m cell, devil gene and power to cleanse its all there guys
Kazuya not only lost to the power of friendship but also lost to the power of mommy. Don't sleep on that power, there's a reason why Dante always wins in DMC

And They merge and Become Devil who Returns( Kazuya and Jin were both just Using His Power and Angel reappears and we Have a Longer Version of Her Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Ending Meaning the ending itself was a Spoiler.
2:04 Oh! So that's why in Tekken 8 everyone looked over Jin basically starting WWIII. He was actually trying to make it the War to end all Wars. Though to be fair, Jin was practically borderline suicidal by that point.
Azazel is already a boss on the previous game. They don't wanna overshadow Kazuya as the main villain.

In Azazel's defense, he was at his prime in Tekken 6, but since he was physically destroyed by Jin and was sealed up by Zafina, just go be released a year or two by Kazuya, he was strong, but Kazuya surpassed him due to how stronger he's gotten.
Edit: the whole part of Kazuya gor possessed by Devil out of nowhere got me laughing and scared too when i first seen that in Tekken 4. If i was in Heihachi's situation seeing my evil son gotten possessed out of nowhere, i would be scared too lol
Azazel in the lore is no joke, he was gonna wipe humanity out and destroy the world, Lars didn’t even beat him at his full power (Lars is no joke as seen in 8), it was just Jin who did with his own devil power, and Kazuya who has surpassed him with his growth in his devil powers above Jin who was the one who beat Azazel so it makes sense.

I think the problem is that he didn’t really have any cool feats of strength like you see Kazuya having. He basically gets beat up, tells people he powered up, and then gets beat up again immediately after lol

The way I saw it, it's because jin and kazuya both have stronger desires/will. They both could overpower the originator or the devil gene. Or absorb in kazuya's case.

To be fair, the Mishimas are kinda OP, even Lars could've beat Azazel. At least, it's miles better treatment than Shao Kahn in MK11 and Shinnok in MKX.
To be fair Lars only beat the weaker base form of Azazel and not his strongest form like Jin.
Shinnok did a lot of good in MKX cuz even with the Green Halo Johnny didn’t defeat him just won a fight which then continued which Raiden defeated shinnok with his own amulet, the real insult was Cassie Cage with the Green Halo somehow beating Corrupted Shinnok when Johnny couldn’t even knock out normal shinnok that was so fucked bad, much worse than Azazel.
Shao Kahn was decent for most of MK11 he was struggling with Kotal which wouldn’t be bad if kotal didn’t get jobbed a lot later, he just didn’t do much sadly, and at the end he lost to Kitana which I like her being Kahn yet it should of been a team effort much like how the combat kids should of worked together with Cassie using the green halo to beat base shinnok to make it less dumb tbh.
But aftermath did better with Shao Kahn yet it was Shang Tsung’s run mostly lol
They brought him back just for Kazuya to give him a humiliation kink 😂😂

The devil gene is little more than a symbol to Jin and Kazuya. A curse to be exorcised and a birthright to be fulfilled, but neither of them feel particularly strongly about it's destruction in the end.
Azazel was fooled twice.
First Azazel thought it convinced Jin and it seems that way when he started the war in Tekken 6. So, after Azazel reveal itself and tried to side with Jin, Jin attacked and “killed” Azazel. Azazel survived from the fight against Jin.
In Tekken 8, it was summoned by Kazuya. Azazel wish to reward him and allow him to be the servant. Kazuya refused as he only summoned it to take its powers for himself.
Azazel isnt really bright for someone who is the main devil itself.

My thoughts exactly. If you wanted to reintroduced Azazel in 8 only to get rid of him immediately, you could at least bring the tag mechanic back for 1 fight where you play as Claudio & Yoshimitsu to weaken him & then have Kazuya swoop in at the last minute to play his part.

The theme of _Tekken_ is how cool the Mishimas are, therefore, it's perfectly good for an ancient Egyptian demon to be a jobber for Mishimas. An ancient Egyptian demon doesn't have to win just because it's ancient, or the ultimate source of the plot device.
Its the source of what makes them cool tho. And the powers they have are just passed down fractions of what little AZ gave to his servants which is diluted every generation but Kaz beats him even so with little effort.

Originally the devil's power would travel when the original user lost it's power. Kazuya dying gave it to Jin. Jin and kazuya losing it would give it to Reina. But idk man shit don't make sense no more. Tekken 7 fucked alot of shit up

I think the sharing half of power doesn't mean those remnant wouldn't grow due to the nature of it increasing if you act like a sigma grinder, and we know Kazuya is that grinder. As for Kazama , they're just kryptonite who can soften and purify devils. So not power of friendship , they just need religion.

I don't get why Azazel's even in this game, Jin still has the devil mark at the end. Kazuya still has dark power elcetric attacks, I doubt they have their devil gene cured. I mean it's already established that Kazuya in Tekken 7, yes the game literally before, had true devil Kazuya as an adaptable form. Azazel serves no narrative purpose, and Kazuya's cool ass devil design was swapped for a power ranger villain outfit to fight what was imo a pretty cool Angel Jin.

Azazeal wasn’t at full power when he was awakened Jin sped up the process for him to be awakened like a couple 100 years earlier than what it was supposed to be also in the hieroglyphics it also shows that Mishima were bestowed they’re powers n strength by the gods fujin n raijin so while yes kazuyas full potential with his devil gene was stunted due to Jin the it didn’t really matter since his a mashima n they get stronger pretty after every fight they’re in even heiachi was able to beat a pure blood devil gene user that’s lived longer than him so yea the mashima bloodline is absurdly powerful and then gene managed to go even further with adding the purification abilities of the kazama clan on top of his abilities with the devil gene n as a mashima so know azazel was disrespected just nothing u can do when ur fighting hybrids of the most powerful bloodlines in existence especially when ur constantly getting weakened n sealed meanwhile these mfs are getting vastly stronger with multiple near death fights n u always gotta use that energy to bust out

While I do still like the whole idea of the Devil Gene I do prefer when the story was Kazuya made a pack with the Devil. It being retconned to being a gene trait is still cool cause outside of like 2 moments it makes sense still and those moments are when you seen Jin get branded in one of the Tekken 3 openings and Kazuya’s comment about losing half himself in Tekken 4. I wish they brought back the Tag 1 design for Devil Kazuya that was peak.

In Tekken 4 yes that’s Devil possessing Kazuya but the reality is until they merged they was always 2 entities possessing the same body so honestly it’s interchangeable on the name you say cause it doesn’t change much unless you explaining it to someone that doesn’t know about the story and you don’t wanna confuse them. If I was to say in Tag 1 I mained both versions of Kazuya I wouldn’t be wrong saying that cause that’s what Devil was.

People forget the subtle fact that Mishimas are supposed to be descendants of the storm and thunder God Raijin. Is implied in lots of their attacks, the hair, the electric powers the have etc...
Plus demons in shintoism are not all powerful, same as gods, they can be killed. They are more powerfull that humans tho, but not invincible and Japan loves stories about killing gods and demons.
So Mishimas been able to handle Azazel is not that far fetched, knowing that the probably have the blood of a god anyway lol
Jun almost killed Ogre, the god of fighting. She was badly injured yes, but she weaked him a lot, we don´t know form where the Kazama clan came from, but they can surpress devils and evil entities with not much effort. That´s why Jin could beat Kaz with angel powers. It was his half Kazama blood too.

Azazel in Tekken 6 was so cheap. His rng was also super inconsistent. Sometimes you would beat him first try, other times he would perma spam all his spikes, mosquitos n sht and you would not be able to even get one hit in.
This demon is a figure head. His servants are tough but not him himself.

I believe that the Devil gene can be trained like a muscle. That’s why Kaz could eventually defeat Azazel even if he only had half his Devil gene, he’d been using his in combat to the point he could utilize it in full effortlessly on command by 8.

This is exactly why i honestly hate most media nowadays that involve big monster creatures. They're all so cool but literally are only created as plot devices to get beat up my the main protagonist. It's so hard to be a monster fan and every creature character just gets molly wopped by the average human being. It's just bad writing and unfortunately that what's entertaining to majority of people nowadays
Yeah, I'm thinking the same thing. Very few non-humans get to be heroes in a lot of stories too. I think a lot of authors for some reason have an obsession with depicting humans as the only ones you should root for, or depicting humans as the only thing the audience should relate to. Or maybe it's not an obsession, it's just that they tend to not care about giving non-humans characters really dignified roles.
Long story short, Azazel is strong, devil powers are strong, but the Mishima blood is now far stronger.
