Snow in September!?

  • Got some early snow fall for this year. We put some bedding in the muddy corrals to give the cows a nice and dry place to lay down. Also put some sand in the beds in the cows barn and unloaded a trailer of new calf barn equipment.

New sub. From the NEK (Northeast Kingdom) of VT (USA) - Really enjoy your channel - Esp. The build and tour of the new barn - VERY IMPRESSIVE!!! Your family should feel proud!! I work in the field of “dentistry”, have for 17 years, however, I always had wished that I had grown up on a farm, didn’t....So, when a local organic dairy farm, run by a young couple, was looking for a milker and someone to help mange the herd, I applied for the job. I was one of 3-hired, the only one without experienced, but, soon, I’ll be the last one of those 3-hired, remaining. I LOVE IT...Sometimes they call me the “cow whisperer” - BTW, my first winter it was -27 degrees Fahrenheit, without the windchill, out on the open hillside!!! I thought, if my body could survive that and all that goes wrong with equipment in those temps, I’d be good!!!! This will mark my 3rd winter season dairy farming and I’m still working my full time job in dentistry...KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK ON YOUR CHANNEL 👍🐄👍🐄

Make a "farm history" or "family history" video - it all seems like a brand new farm with lots of expanding going on -
did you guys just buy the place and already expanding with everything.....love the clean new facilities you have to work with.....and you might be the cleanest farmer I have ever seen -
always look like you just stepped out of the shower and on your way on date.......and that`s a compliment.......lol

SideNote - Is it really comfortable for them to sleep on sand? I supposed its better than sleeping on the bare ground. After seeing water beds for the cows I compare everything to that but they're more spoiled than me with the water beds so that's not the same at all.

Do the cows have pasture they go on or do they just do corrals and their barn? Does standing in muck hurt their hooves much or does that not really make a difference?(i’m sure it’s not muck all the time). Also, after you bob cat clean their barns or areas they travel it always looks slick, is it? (I wonder this watching other Channels as well). Does a spray down ever happen to bring it back to cement and to remove feces/urine/muck.
    Sorry- so many questions! :)
