Looked at the service manual and it says I need some "special tool" to do it. Just wanted to make sure that "special tool" is nothing but a flat-head screwdriver and you've confirmed my suspicion in this video. Thanks a million :)

I wish you had a video for replacement of the LED assembly on the 2016...
I am pretty sure the LED one, is not user replaceable, I think you have to go to the dealer or install a complete new fixture. the LED's are soldered onto the board.

Hi Mitch, I see the two tabs (on the sides), but having trouble releasing them. I stuck a screw driver in - tried straight in, prying to the left/right, and nothing seems to work. Any more advice on this step?
Led light you have to replace the whole thing later models

I have a 2012 CR-V with the LED brake light. It is flickering so I suspect it will be failing soon. Does the whole unit have to be replaced?
I am pretty sure it does. cant just swap the bulb on those.

This is not particularly helpful for a 2013. You should change your list of years. I would guess yours is valid up to 2012, lots of other links I've found mention that range.
can anyone make a video without the annoying background "music". High pitch annoying and got a headache before I got an answer. Will try somewhere else.
