Good tips for use on any lathe install. Great video.

Great! DRO is the only quick and accurate way to do things on a lathe.

Looks like you have the same DRO panel that I have fitted to my mill. It is a good piece ok kit. Never seen those dials on the back of the carriage before, they look pretty neat

Hey dude yeah the old school dials on the back were probably all they had back in the day for keeping track of movement. Going to definitely be looking into this DRO some more hopefully take full advantage of the tool library.

I personally like the new style video. Came over very well. Fitting the DRO is definitely a worthwhile addition. Nicely accomplished. 👏👏👍😀

I like the new format, you can edit in some extra info as you go. 😉

Yeah very true and easier to edit when I keep getting my words muddled up. 😁

maybe a stupid question but why do you always bring the dril up and not drill thru from the first time?
(sorry from bad english, greets from Belgium)

That’s ok I think what your referring to in the video is something I do called peck drilling. The idea is the chips are get short so you don’t end up with large long chips that could whip you.

What length of scale did you use

cheers, video format was fine, I like both styles. Do you have to calibrate that setup, or does it come good to go?

Hi Jack thanks for your feedback it’s good to know what you guys think. There is no calibration needed, most important thing is getting the scale parallel with the bed ways and get the sensor spaced evenly end to end.

Can save a lot of time drilling a chain of holes first when you want to make a slot in a thick plate like that!

Great idea Oliver wish I thought of that before milling these slots for what seemed forever.
