Clear and concise information.. methotrexate was an awful experience... I hope leflunomide helps me without losing my hair.

You too, huh? I was okay after we bumped up my folic acid but my kidneys and liver just couldn’t handle the stuff. My AST/ALT and creatinine SHOT UP after a month so leflunomide is the next one to try. Good luck to you! Hope it works well!

I am getting mild head ache and diarrhea. Started Leflunomide from last 2 weeks. Should I stop it and look for other medication ?

I use MTX 20mg weekly and Arava 10mg daily to manage my RA. (Megafol and bloodtests to monitor). Combo works very well and so far has been well tolerated. No SE to date (+5 years now). One question I have is why the combo; I did ask my Rheumatologist but his response was a little vague. So how do the MTX and Leflunomide work together to manage my RA ? Thanks.

Kind of depends on who you ask but usually they’ll start patients on just methotrexate. Overtime they’ll add on other medication‘s as needed. Leflunomide being one of those.
Other doctors will just start the two drug therapy right off the bat.
Studies show them to be a pretty effective combination.

i'm suffering from hair loss and rashes even after stopping the drug for 2 weeks+. How long does the drug take to leave my system? Do i need to wash it out?

Unfortunately the drug takes quite a while to get out of your system. Months. You can talk to your doctor about activated charcoal and cholestyramine to help move it out of your system quicker

It’s not a common side effect. You’ll want tot all to your doctor on that
