Learning a second language is so difficult for me, but you have helped much in trying to. break the language barrier. I have listened to your videos and they have encouraged me to not give up, thanks!
When it comes to the vowel e, I find that it helps when I round my lips as if I wanted to say /u/, but then I say /e/ instead. That way I get a perfect /ø/.
Dear Alexa, I really appreciate that you are one of my best sources of French language I gained most. When I started learning French there was little bit confusing letters for example the two vowels (E and 0) are almost pronounced the same, although there is little bit difference. G and J are also very close but quite different. The most difficult letter for me was ( Y ). I think it has the longest pronunciation according to the other letters.
here's several suggestions for how to learn French Decide precisely why you want to learn it Try to use French in your everyday life Find what process works for you the best. (I discovered about these and more on Mirykal French Plan website )
bonjour Alexa im a USP student taking french course this is my first semester and I love watching your videos .. keep it up cos we always watching your clip from the other side ...
portuguese is awesome! It will be my 4th language!! (French is going to be my third) This comes from a Chilean Spanish native-speaker (actually Portuguese would be my 5th if I count Chilean Spanish and Neutral Spanish separately ;P)
I love Portuguese ! The most beautiful language. I’m serbian. I speak obviously Serbian, English and Spanish fluently. So I can understand Portuguese and Italian easily. French only little bit written.. French is so so hard to learn.
You are a great teacher Alexa. I just want to say that in my school , in India , my teacher taught me Y and H as a vowels . So just want to say that . But thank you for these great video. I personally love them . Again thank you.
@@Staraqore lmao actually yes I’ve been studying it in school/college since a little after I made this comment I guess (2016?) and I’m gonna live in Belgium for a semester next year.
I really like this woman..... Funny and Very Clear..... I ran across her last week andnow I really want to make time to Learn French...... Just Wonderful
Luckily I’m a native Cantonese speaker and we have the exact same sounds as the French E and U in our language. It’s very natural for me to pronounce them
Only when you want to emphasize it, however most people don't usually pronounce it colloquially unless it comes after a string of consonants. For instance, people would rather not pronounce the final E in jupe.
In turkish , we have ö ( for e in french ) and ü ( for u in french ) . Turkish have many words from french and they also have some common voices that some of other languages dont have 😄
La grammaire est importante, mais la prononciation est également importante. C'est pourquoi je regardais vos vidéos sur les accents. Dans l'ensemble, je dois admettre que mes compétences en français se sont améliorées depuis que j'ai commencé à apprendre le français avec vous. Continuez votre bon travail. Vous faites un excellent travail.
Dear Alexa I find your videos very exciting and helpful to learn French language thank you so much. I am from India and I'm very keen learner also along with me I'm teaching my 12 year old son and his friends to learn french as they have french language as a subject in school.Thank you once again. Warm Regards
started to learn French and it is interesting and I am seeing that most of the sounds I already know because I am native Kannda language speaker and surprisingly it has all the vowel sounds which is being used in French.
Thank U for the video! Now, I've a problem: while I understand there exists a difference between 'e', 'eu', and 'œ', & I while I can even somewhat perceive the difference when listening spoken French, I've too much difficulty reproducing the sounds myself. Would it be possible to make a video in which U say all three sounds in a row so that difference is clearer & I can understand how to reprise them better?
to say the E vowel get the letter e from the word problem, and say it alone, be sure not to include the m sound at the end though. that's one way to say the E vowel in french. you can also say "see" keep the ee and say bye to the s. for the U vowel you do the same thing but you round your lips. For example, you get the ee from see and round your lips.
While this is an older video now... I am using it to review as I consistently say "Jus" like "Joue" (as in "je joue") which is wrong, and yet difficult for me to actually correct. Working on it!
I find these video most helpful. But evidently when the last letter of a word is an e, and the e is preceded by one or more consonants, the e is pronounced sometimes - but not always - but the consonant(s) is (are) pronounced (exception - present tense verbs ending in -ent). Or so I think. Alexa (or anyone), is there a rule about when this final e is - and is not - pronounced? Merci.
I like your lessons very much and your English since back in 80s but in subject "vowels" the sound for " tasse" and "Jupe" I am mixed up. I am still learning from your sight although I have " Certificat d'apitude Linguistiques (UN)."
Aina Aziz Yeah they are supposed to be silent, but it's not uncommon to hear people pronouce it or lightly pronounce it. You often hear the silent e pronouced in songs, to give an extra beat and/or to rhyme with other words ending in silent e's at the end of lines. The french version of "The lion sleeps tonight" has several silent e's sung in it. I think called "Le lion est mort ce soir". Another example, Lara Fabian sings the silent e in the word "Malade" in the song "Je suis malade".
Thanks for the video. Your videos are very helpful. I have a question. You said that we don't pronounce "S" when a word ends in S, but you pronounced the s when you say "BUS"
Sometimes 's' is pronounced at the end of words in French... mostly in Latin words ('virus'), English borrowed words ('yes'... I think 'bus' falls in that case), and some odd exceptions ('plus' in the sense of 'more', to contrast with 'plus' in the sense of 'not anymore' which is pronounced 'plu' or 'pu').
I would appreciate it if you could show the english words in bright yellow or bright pink .it would help the student learners see tgr word better.its only a suggestion. Merci beaucoup .

Is there any some kind of inflection when pronouncing the E? it sounded like you go down first and then raise your voice or something
What about y - ekk-gray ?
