    I regrip mine and others clubs all the time. Tips are: get a table and a vise. Hook cutter is key. Use precut tape. Might cost more but easier to work with. Practice on an older club before your gamers. Don't skimp on solvent. Many grips have a center line or dot on the them by shaft. I put a Sharpie dot on shaft to help line up next grip. Comes off easy with some solvent. After a few you will get the hang of it.

    Some good tips….
    Once you get it moving up the club shaft….don’t stop! Run it straight up.
    Next level item is by looking at the butt of the grip, there is usually words/writing….whether you want logo up…or logo down… try to get those words to go 9 o’clock 3 o’clock orientation .
    Small amount of the solvent on a paper towel to clean and wipe down the shaft from grip to club head. Make it look clean and professional.

    I would add that when working with graphite shafts you want the hook blade to cut the grip on an angle avoiding the paint on the graphite shaft.

    I just pulled the grip off my 'new to me' driver.... the used club dealer I bought from uses some very frustrating clear tape that was horrifically sticky AND tore apart!
    Took me almost an hour picking away at it with the shaft and my hands coated in turps to remove it all 😮‍💨

      Did you use a heat gun or hair dryer to help remove the tape. I know that clean tape you're referring to and it is a beast to get off by hand.

    I've never re-gripped a club before but would like to experiment with a few different grips on one of my clubs before deciding what's right for me. My current Callaway grips don't really have an alignment line as such, more an upward and downward 'kind-of' arrow that is part of the grip design, so it is very difficult to see how it is lined up with the club head. Can anyone give me some advice as to how to correctly align the new grips? ie. should the sole of the club be pointing to 12 o'clock and the alignment marks on the new grip be directly in line with the edge of the sole? Thanks in advance for any advice offered.

    i like very much your tips about regripping en reshafting
    but i didnt directly find a answer to my question:
    when you regrip a club you can align the grip, some grips are especially made for this , but you can also choose to NOT align your grip with the head .
    now the question : when you reshaft a club : are the shafts especially made to align in a certain way with the head or can you turn the shaft and so create a special pattern :
    does this work with steel shafts and also with grafite shafts?

    • @EFGMC
      @EFGMC  7 місяців тому +1

      This will depend who you ask. If you have a quality shaft then it does not matter how you orient the shaft, it will play the same.
      Not everyone shares this view but be aware the vast majority who don't are trying to sell you something.

    Recently I had a devil of a time regripping using acetone. It sounds ridiculous, but it seemed like it shrunk the opening of the grip. I went back to mineral spirits and the grips went on easily again.

      Don't use acetone, not a good idea.

    If I want two wraps of tape do I just peel first layer and place a 2nd on top? How difficult is it when sticky sides meet?

    • @EFGMC
      @EFGMC  7 місяців тому

      Better to use masking tape to build up the size simply because it's way cheaper. But you can just as easily use multiple layers of double sided.

    Can you do a video on building a combo iron set please? I'm looking at mizuno irons and on their site you can basically make a combo out of everything. Anything would help. Been leaning towards the 223s

    Silly question... Do you not have to take the 2nd side off of the double sided tape facing the grip?

    • @jamesmc81
      @jamesmc81 День тому

      The double-sided tape has heavy white paper on the outer side. You need to remove this

    Almost ruined a 35 dollar Superstroke putter grip because it wasn't wet enough,,luckily I had it nearby and could save it.

    What is your opinion on using soapy water instead of solvent? I tried it once and it came loose when I played my next round. I don't have a vise and I have changed my old set. Lot of good tips!!🏌‍♂⛳

      I use white spirit just as good as grip solvent.. it evaporates quickly and WAYY cheaper...

      @@davidcooper3317 that is what I used but I tried soapy water once😬

      @@ZaxDrumsandGolf I'd imagine with soapy water, once the water had evaporated, you'd still be left with the soap component, so it would be essentially like you had smeared a very thin layer of soap between the inside of the grip and the grip tape.
