    Nice review! It was not an obvious choice - I was looking at Gerber's tough looking Devour etc. for everyday lunch. However looking at several different brands/models/types, I finally ordered Snow Peak which is influenced heavily by your review. Its on its way right now but Im looking forward to a functional set that will hold up - whose finish will last. Thanks for also introducing me to the world of Snow Peak - ...that's some luxe, practical yet elegant camping gear form Japan!

  • @FrancisWilhelmBlank
    @FrancisWilhelmBlank Рік тому +1

    Perfect thx so much: as a vegan I need a really good spoon, since most of them are to narrow or not deep enough.
    I thought about the one problem, why some folks won't buy it: the length of the handle, when you need it for deeper bowls.
    I've got the feeling that it's possible, with a little DIY, to use them together and get the same results. So that they are connected, up sight down/ mirrored, in the middle of the handles, with f.e. a longer silicone tube or something like this. I will try it when I'm on my next adventure.
    Video quality and speach 10 of 10.

    • @jackdaw7751
      @jackdaw7751 2 роки тому

      having watched hours of snow peak dining/camping fan content at this point I think the knife is, from the snow peak perspective, redundant. they make both kitchen knives and scissors to use while cooking and serving food in the lavish car camping style and, last I knew, people who go back paving aren't cooking big things that they need to cut at the table (as it were).
      I also think the popularity of some bushcraft knives makes a knife not make as much sense in a dining set.
      all that being said... I'm way too intense about this stuff I love data analytics and marketing😅

    Thanks for the review. I love your analogy of the 2-in-1 shampoo not being great at anything. I would like a titanium spoon. It would be nice if the snow peak one were a little more like a tea spoon in my opinion. I think it helps us slow down in life. A smaller spoon makes it easier to stir my coffee and I take smaller bites of food, perhaps improving digestion. I did see some other brands of titanium spoons that were smaller but I would be concerned with quality. I guess in order to find the perfect spoon I will need to try a few out... Since I have not found a titanium spoon I like a lot yet, I think I will make my own out of bamboo. There is infinite free bamboo where I live.

    From South Africa sorry lad, I have to disagree... not your fault, you would need to cast your net much, much further and wider...as far as South Africa and as wide as 1974, and get a SA Army issue cutlery set. I still have my original issue... that's some 45 years and I still use it... Durable to say the least... a 3 utensils set, the fork & spoon nest tight in the handle of the knife, making the pressure side of the knife wide and you can press hard down... the knife... the utility tool for field stripping a 7 62 FN semi or fully automatic adult rifle field fix radios and other sundry bits of military gear ---- ask me I know.... Spent 2 years conscription in the SA border war... coming to the fork... stubby ,& emmensely strong used to open tinned foods stir and dig cat-hole latrines while on patrol.. the spoon, also stubby does what all spoons do and does it well.. As I said I still have and use mine..... something quite nostalgic about eating with a cutlery set you once used to dig a poop hole

    I don't care much for a spork. Tried it long ago and not for me. I do have something else instead though. However it doesn't cut down on the weight. When it comes to the weight saving for the camp out utensils, I prefer to just carve my own spoon/fork. Anyway, I have this utensils pocket knife. It's the for, spoon, knife and bottle opener. You unfold the fork and spoon and both sides of the knife handle separate to have the fork and spoon separate. The knife on one half and bottle opener on the other half. I don't use bottle openers anyway. And I only spent a couple of dollars (CAD) on a smaller version and a few dollars (CAD) on the bigger version. So worth it!

      Totally hear you Bart, Titanium is super strong and which can make it abrasive to cookware that is coated. I've found that I use mostly stainless steel for boiling water or liquids and at a low heat so these serve nicely for outdoor adventures where I need to both stir the food in the pot and eat it out of my bowl. The serving bowl I use is a Sea to Summit plastic bowl with lid which is great since it also won't scratch!

    I don't know if I'll ever go all the way and get the spoon and fork set. The spork is already amazing. I can just carry one thing and it works for pretty much everything. The only time I run into any trouble is when there's like a tiny glob of stew at the bottom of a tall cup; the tines are inadequate at scooping it but a dedicated spood would have less trouble doing so.

    • @milotash
      @milotash  10 місяців тому

      When I owned the spork first I thought similarly. It was not until I the set solved that exact problem that dedicated myself fully to them and ditched the spork for my daily carry. They’re so lightweight that you hardly notice the other piece of silverware and the benefit that comes from a full spoon warrants the added size (albeit miniscule)

    You didn't talk about how titanium utensils leave marks on porcelain plates.

      Hey Mark! Thanks for the comment. I don’t usually take porcelain plates camping or to work so I wouldn’t know, but thanks for the call out! Porcelain plate users beware!

    Fun fact: The Snow Peak spork will nest with the spoon and fork set.

    I just bought snow peak fork and spoon set online.
    I have a question: is it normal to see the spoon or fork to be all scratchy when you first bought it?
    Mine looks very scratchy on the surface as if like someone has been using it for a while…

      Hm, I believe mine did have a matte finish when it arrived. Might be due to the polishing process? But if you have distinct stretches that seems odd…

      @@milotash Heyy thanks for replying :) I contacted the shop, and they offered me an exchange which I gladly accepted. The new set looks better than the first one. And great video btw. I love your way of explaining!

    I actually eat with just a big spoon. Never use a fork or a knife, life good

    I would consider purchasing these but there not $26. They tac on another $7 dollars for shipping. Thus at $26 this set of titanium spoon $ fork are expensive. Can’t justify the exorbitant shipping cost on top. Disappointed.

      Woof, yeah! Sadly I’m not the one picking pricing for shipping from where ever you’re buying them from (I merely review the cool gear). Maybe try purchasing from another website! They’re free shipping with prime on Amazon. Good luck to you!
