I’m a “new” (returning after playing as a child) player, so I had no prior context for the SAP. But I saw it in the loot table on Jellyneo and was like “oh wow that’s so cute and silly lol, I hope I get that!” And of course I didn’t, but it’s just wild that I had NO IDEA what it was or what it was worth and just went “cute :)” and it’s turned out to be this huge thing lol? It’s like seeing a someone and thinking they’re cute, only to later see them on the news as like The Most Beautiful and Successful Person on the Planet
I learned today that you can just buy icy snowballs from the fountain faerie every 30 minutes and it counts for a purchase for the daily quests. It's not great if you have 3 to do in the last minute, but at least you could buy one there if the situation happens again

@@misomie Yeah!! I def do that now; back when I first posted this, though, the general store didn't work for some reason. They changed it around when they added codestones to the pool of possible daily prizes! I'm glad they changed it, though! Definitely way easier!

Y'know, the thing that brought me back to Neopets was that goals were actually achievable (the daily quest system). I was never a very rich player back when I was a kid; couldn't get into restocking or anything so I mostly played games. A lot. And that was exhausting! Being able to potentially get pets and items I've wanted while doing what I enjoy in-game has been a big motivator.
But I also want to shout out just how warm and generous Neo has become. I've had so many people do so many kind things for me (like giving me dream pets??) after coming back and it's blown my mind. That community is SPECIAL. Neopets should be trying to foster that and keep it around, because it's the other huge part of what's been keeping me playing. I used to love labbing and dropping painted pets in the pound and now I've been working on granting pet wishes myself. Let people have nice things and be able to give other people nice things.

Ive had a Neopets account for 14 years and I've been on and off on it. I wanted to make neopoints to get cool paint brushes for my pets so bad but I could NEVER CRACK IT! When I was younger the most luxurious I could ever get was buying a single Christmas paint brush. I guess I just didn't play enough or figure out the ways to actually make money, but the fact that anything aspirational felt impossible is a huge reason why I stopped playing for years multiple times! I had school and later work to worry about, I can't play Neopets all day!! And I don’t even necessarily want all the fancy rare stuff, I just want to feel like its actually possible to accomplish whatever goals I give myself. Honestly that's why Flight Rising became my petsim game of choice, if I want to do something I actually feel like I'll be able to get enough currency someday to accomplish it.
I started playing Neopets again about a month ago mostly because of the quest system (which I found out about through your videos, ay) and after all those years I FINALLY feel like I'm making progress. It's going a bit sloe, but I know I could probably finally have a cybunny, or some brushes, or finish the lab ray map within the next month and that's incredibly encouraging! If anything, it's making me to spend more time playing when I actually feel like what I'm doing is useful!
So between that and, somehow accidentally convincing three and counting of my friends to sign up to Neopets in the year of our lord 2023 and wanting them to actually enjoy themselves...I mean I get it, if rich players put in the work and time I absolutely agree that they should have status symbols to show for it, but the rest of us losers should get to have a crumb of fun too. And if someone got Neopets rich from using bots and scalping......tbh as far as im concerned they can just stay mad about it lmao

As someone who just started playing because of your videos, I'm really happy about the economy changes and free prizes. Neopets is so inaccessible to a new player. I've tried before in thr past and it's just draining to know the only way I can get a not red yellow blue or green pet is by slaving away at broken games and fighting rng to get anything decent. It's never right to close the door on the person behind you.

Ok, I'm in. You have convinced me to start back up. I don't think I'm going to unearth my old childhood account, but like yeah I'm going to neopet. Just to have fun playing a videogame. I feel inspired and hopeful. As a kid I always wanted to paint my pet with a fairy paintbrush and after watching your last month of videos it feels like I can finally fulfil that childhood dream.

yes yes yes to everything in your pea rant. I've been screaming from the rooftops essentially the same things about new players. We all are coming from that mindset of being 20 yr veterans in this game. If I was walking in today as a fresh player I would RUN SO FAST! and all of these changes are addressing that. AND I WANT NEW PLAYERS TO HAVE FUN AND LOVE THE SITE AS MUCH AS I DO!

40:55 My take might be different than most. Generally speaking, a majority of battledome players have asked for years for Defenders of Neopia to be fixed.
I know some have said, "Why can't the rich just enjoy getting the trophies" etc.
Since DoN is broken, players can't get said trophies. For those players, getting that trophy is like getting the snowbunny stamp pre quest system. It's a big deal to them.
Lastly, without a working 2 player skirmish option, every single challenge is manual. Prices on most weapons have deflated considerably; just not some that make the headlines.
As most bd weapons aren't single use, a lot of them just tend to sit and rot in shops or sdb without much purpose.
Re releasing SAP with day 1 quantity was going to make a lot more weapons follow suit; some like the Fan of Swords, which are actually good, and cost about 16m anyway.
I’m not that far in yet but if you’re ever stuck trying to get an item for dailies and nobody is stocked, you can buy something at the healing fountain and that will count!

I started playing Neopets like 20 years ago but I always ended up leaving because most everything I wanted seemed vastly overpriced or even unobtainable. Literally the only reason I've come back to Neopets now is because watching your videos convinced me that TNT was actually trying to fix the economy and the insane inflation.
Like, I totally understand that the pea is supposed to be rare and for like the very, very top of Battledome. But I don't think that ANY item on Neopets should cost the insane amount that it used to cost.
Sure, maybe some other items would have been better to release over the pea. But any fucking item costing that much is just insane. People do not realize how CRAZY of a number a billion is, and that damn pea cost TWO of those.
Like. Yes. We should have rare ass items that we have to work towards but like. 2 BILLION?
TNT wanted to fix the economy and inflation, or at least it seems like they do. So people need to understand that to do that, nothing should be costing BILLIONS.

Like how to tell which weapons / shields are better and how to level up. Initially I figured it was like D&D where you fight to gain experience points to level up, but it seems like it's all in the training schools instead?

With my only other pet game being Flight Rising before I joined Neopets, it was a shock but I knew what I was getting into when I signed up. I was super into neopets for a bit as a young kid but the site was too confusing for me back then and ever since I've been kinda living off of hearing whatever the hell whirlwind storm goes on there with each situation getting deeper and deeper, but hearing them go completley independant made me finally pick up interesting enough to try again and... Most if not all of my pets are painted now, and it feels like the things i want to do ARE achieveable. I kind of enjoy watching the rich upper percent of this platform squirm as things are lowered and become more obtainable. It's very fun.
As an ex-neopets Player, playing since I was 9 years-old until I was 18 years-old, I gotta say I don't see an issue 🙃
Neopets have done this kind of thing of breaking the rarity of an item so many times before and each time I felt like this was a blessing because it was the only way of me fulfilling my dreams
My dream was to have a pirate paintbrush but it costed around 20kk neopoints. I read many guides on how to make millions of neopoints but the suggestions were restocking (which was impossible because of the bots) and playing games. By playing games you could make around 30k each day, so 960k per year
That meant 20 years of playing, it was ridiculous. Of course you can get luck and get a rare item that will make it go faster but it was not guaranteed and I gave up.
And then came the altador cup, the Haunted Woods were the first to win and the big prize was a halloween paintbrush. This means that if Krawk Island won, I'd get my pirate paintbrush and they had a shot. Three years later we won and I got my dream paintbrush! Also the price dropped to like 8kk so that was still crazy but less crazy haha
And that's what I'm talking about! We can have rare items but we need to have them at a reasonable price so that the average player can buy them if they go the extra-mile!
I don't know how things are today but in my time, getting a krawk or a draik was absurd, getting the avatar items like the MSP card and the stamps was literally impossible. I don't care if you are the only player to ever fulfill that stamp page, I want other players to have it too without hacking!
Anyway, that's my take on this situation, release the christmas pea! 😂
Ps. When I stopped playing I had 12kk because of this random rare items I got throughout the years, still no 20kk though, this is an insane amount. I still have no clue how people get over 100kk

I'm personally glad TNT is re-releasing all these rare expensive items. There's been a few times in the last couple of years where I've debated just quitting neopets and finding a different pet sim to play, because everything just seemed so unobtainable. Now in the last few months alone I've been able to achieve most of my goals. I haven't had this much fun on neopets in years! I nearly cried the other day when they gave out Kadoaties in the advent calendar, I've been wanting one since I was a kid

Honestly, who was even buying Seasonal Attack Peas for a billion neopoints in the first place? At least Super Attack Pea gives you an avatar. If anything, the lower rarity would probably make it easier to sell and actually get some money. Like wait a couple months, and maybe you can make some coin off newbie players that didn't do the Advent Calendar.

My opinion on the whole Peagate situation as well as Neopets just giving everybody more expensive items in general, is that I feel that this kind of situation is temporary (pretty long but let me cook). It honestly feels like an effort to stabilize the market by taking power away from old money and botters. That being said, TNT has mentioned they will do rotating prize pools for weekly quests. I am predicting that when this is done, the weekly quests will either be for generally more accessible items, or for entirely new ones. Naturally, once they are out of rotation, the cost of these items will increase which will further expand the very active upper class of Neopia. I imagine if they go with the route of weekly rewards being completely brand new items, This can ensure that newly created limited release items will begin to accrue value once their accessibility has been removed. Effectively meaning that lower class players can have the potential to improve their financial situation by completing weekly rewards, participating in seasonal events, and holding onto those items once those rewards no longer become available. The same capabilities that longer term players can, and have utilized to gain their wealth during Neopets hay-day. This is a model that was adapted previously with Gaia online, which functions very similar to the Neopets market, and is also infamous for its inflators. Even Pokémon GO adopted this model when daily research tasks came out, as a weekly reward used to be for legendary Pokémon. This was to accommodate players who weren’t able to form raid parties, as the community was dwindling at the time. But now, as more and more legendary Pokémon become more and more accessible., obtaining a legendary from a weekly reward is no longer an option. Just a prediction, we’ll have to see what impact that has on the current playerbase. Still, though, I think some of these older players need to understand where they came from, and realizing that another person’s wealth does not diminish their own.
i feel like every conversation abt petsim economies always boils down to what feels like either a fundamental misunderstanding/wilful ignorance about one thing specifically. it is ok for an item to be rare and expensive. however. it is not fine for things to be THAT inflated. it NEEDS to drop. it is insane and not ok. there is a recent suggestion in flight rising to add the year 1 festival items to a randomized treasure box each player can buy 1 of every month. there were so many older players who already owned items like the light sprite (the first festival item ever, basically. when the site was brand new and unstable, so there is very few of them) complaining it would tank the value of the sprites even though these specific treasure boxes have a) a huge pool of items to pull from and b) there's already a high value apparel item IN the prize pool and it still maintains a very high price with little fluctuation. LIKE. LISTEN IT CAN STILL COST A LOT OF MONEY BUT WHO IS BUYING IT FOR 100 THOUSAND GEMS EXCEPT YOU PEOPLE SWAPPING THEM BACK AND FORTH OR HOARDING THEM AHH
I had no idea SAP were in the extra prize pool, So when I checked the neoboards later that day I was shocked to see everyone going crazy was like that 1 scene from SpongeBob where they're all running around😂. I started a new thread for the first time in a long time and asked someone to explain what was going on, and these 2 guys who were on different sides of the whole pea debate started arguing in the topic. But then they apologized and recognized each other's view points and were friendly after. We love to see character development 🤣
Also, I'm all for releasing rare items cause there should NOT be anything worth a BILLION neopoints, let alone 2!!! I've been playing on and off since 2000 and my dream was always a lost desert paint brush. I know it's not a crazy goal, But for a long time it seemed unobtainable to me. Because I just didn't have that much neopoints. And didn't know how to get a lot more. Now that I've been playing in more recent years and been more serious about it, I've been able to get a lost desert PB finally!!!! And I have other Painted pets and painted pet pets. And I've never had that before. So i'm so excited to be able to get items that I always thought were out of reach
The community (especially on the site event boards) really made me feel sick. I saw someone call an ambassador a "filthy cheater who buys NP offsite" ... the post was removed by TNT while I was calling them out for it so he straight up said... they didn't say that?! The ambassador agreed with me as they saw the post then a few people started calling them a liar?!
The company should care more about the 99% than the 1%. If the 1% wants to leave, there is still the 99% who will play and pay.
I dont know if anyone's mentioned this... But General Store in Neopia Central should always be stocked just in case you find yourself in this situation again.

As a person who lost their 10+ year old account and has only started touching the consolation acct I made a year or so ago.. I am just thrilled to see how easy it is to make neopoints and obtain certain paintbrushes/rare items from quests. It is such a stark difference from the early 2000s Neopets vibes. Plenty of faults to be found, of course, but it's like telling 12 year old me they can get TWO cloud paintbrushes just for playing a game and feeding their pet??? Overjoyed inner child.
I really want to get some cool pets but can't decide, so I just keep refreshing the pound right now.
If things hadnt changed I wouldnt be playing again. Seeinh the prices on literally anything I wanted be millions and millions... all the mid level weapons be unbuyable...It was SO unfair...
I played a few days and then got discouraged. Now I get the money I had to GRIND FOR in a few silly tasks everyday... and FINALLY. Its a GAME.
