as someone who was always the equivalent of a poor sickly victorian orphan on this website, coupled with the fact that my account was hacked and drained of all my belongings during the data leak, this event helped me get SO much money 😭 i was buying tombola guys from hidden tower and selling them for huge profit to these suckers, the joy i felt when they ended up being useless was immense!!

I just ADORRED when they cancelled the R200 donations. I knew in the bottom of my heart the rich inflators ate shit that day. I wish they would have just made a point limit though. Would have been a lot better to "recycle" junk.
apparently the reason this event was a mess was because there are only two programmers working on all of neopets, and only ONE was working on the event...
This event was honestly the most fun I've had on Neopets in years! It was chaotic, but you could sense that the new TNT really did try to make the festival engaging and fun. Though Illusen in the jar did give me some traumatic flashbacks to that one jar meme from a few years back...
i think The new Neopets Team made a fantastic move with the rainbow pool prize. giving people a reasonable chance at having their dream color/pet is just what the current fanbase needed and hopefully brought a bunch of old and new players in!

200m is apparently nothing these days. Due to the ridiculous inflation. Especially if you’re an avatar or stamp collector, you need like 500m or more to get just ONE stamp avatar. I applaud TNT for helping make these stamp avatars more obtainable.
@@DrawciaGleam02 I am not sure how I even made my NPs before the quests. I came back to Neopets about 1.5 months ago and there was already 20m in the bank. I think most of it was from Food Club because I have a 20 year old account and can make quite a bit from that. I also do restocking and the battledome (with premium so I got nerkmids). It’s all gone now because I have spent it on coins for the Space Station Coins stamp album trying to get just ONE stamp avatar only to be stopped by a coin (Smiling Space Faerie Coin) worth 200m to complete the album… :( These people inflating these items, for what?! I hope TNT continues to work towards making these stamps more obtainable and combat inflation. They’re doing a great job so far.
I'm really hoping for more book price reductions too. You need over a billion NP to get into the top 30. Even getting into the top 200 would cost over 122 million and that's assuming your pet doesn't find some of the cheap books "too boring."

I got TWO Fountain Faerie quests during the event. I was so damned excited. Completely missed out on the recycling part though because I had come back after, like, 15 years, and had no clue about it.
Small add from my own experience as a Neopets newbie (well, veteran but I hadn't played in over 14 years...started back up because of your videos!): The event allowed me and many people to get dream Draiks specifically! The Pirate Draik morphing potions were relatively cheap (they inflated a few days into the event unfortunately), and with a near-guaranteed fountain faerie quest or five later, I finally have a Wraith Draik and all it cost me was ~300K for the MP! Truly wild and super cool. I'm so glad you covered the context, history, and details of this event, all the fuss at the time went WAY over my head.
I remember Neopets always having an inflation problem 😂 it doesn’t help that so many people were playing Neopets as well. I switched to Marapets (another Neopets like website) and it was much more enjoyable. It had way less competition for items and it made it more enjoyable as a new player. Loved the video ❤ also the video background deserves applause! Having one lone furby is just the cherry on top 🍒

I thought the lag and star/cog pets were crazy but then the team released the daily quests yesterday and the lag was so unbearable.... Lag aside, I'm definitely enjoying my renewed neopets experience, and I'd like to thank you for getting me back into Neopets! Also, I'm sure there are obvious inflators but I think part of the problem is as soon as people realize something everyone starts buying it so as the demand increases, obviously the price increases. It is just they way the shop wizard works when people buy up the cheaper items. I don't think people really set out to inflate prices but obviously people are going to get the highest price they can...I mean...we all want neopoints right?
The website were crawling because there were more people than they're used to. If you think of it like cars, you can picture high traffic like a freeway with bumper to bumper traffic, vs how fast you can drive on the freeway at night. Each user makes a request (that's like inching forward in your car a bit) and there are only so many lanes to handle the changing requests, so you have to wait for a spot to open up that let's you go. Like if you had an intellegent car that only moved forward after the person in front of you moved and made space.
Neopets can pay more money to have more lanes, but that would be like adding more lanes to a freeway that is usually empty. They won't do it until they realize that on average there are more neopet players than there used to be and it's profitable to pay for more servers.
Also the reason why there were two slingshot purchases is because, due to how many people were using the website, each purchase for 1 bundle of slingshots would go through twice. It really seems like this event brought a lot of people into neopets. I wish I knew about it sooner because I used to play but I was always one of those soup kitchen players.
while i didnt get enough points for the stamp, i did manage to get some paintbrushes & FFQs for all my dreamies at the time. like i never thought i could paint cuddlycalf pastel but here she issss!! im relatively new given as a kid i was too overwhelmed to actually play so i never though i could get these items or get to paint pets at all. best event ever

i can say i will not be contributing to inflation of Illusen's Staff because I started literally DAYS before the event- maybe a week tops. so i got like 59 total points and had nothing to really donate each day and didnt get a capsule 🥲 also i was on mobile and didnt get the prompt to pick and i tapped the screen to try to get it to load or something and it picked illusen's festival for me when i wanted jhudora and i regret it every day 😭 illusen was my fave to stare at as a little baby child but now im an adult goth and want bat wing stuff more than anything 😭

I have to confess that some years ago I was a full grown 16-18 year old and would hostile buyout all the items that would pop up in random faerie quests. Any kid selling that stuff under my price I would buy then raise the floor on the prices to where I was selling dirt pies and stuff for 500-1000np for a solid 7 months while my insane fixation lasted. I had tabs open to haggle shopkeepers down, would flip 100-300k neopoints a day after I did my dailies and had an auto-refresher going on some shops. I'm glad to see I wasn't the only psychopath hustling kids and grown women for imaginary points just to paint my Graarl with a starry paintbrush.

Not sure how this ended up in my recs but, as a kid too poor to have home internet or even a computer in the mid 2000s, I never got to do much with my neopet account I could read the official magazine when going to Walmart, I'd just sit in the book section the whole time while my guardians shopped I've long since forgotten the login to the account I had but man Every time I see anything of Neopets I am reminded of just how much I wanted a Drake but that the eggs were super hard to find And that those fairy and halloween paintbrushes were just so insanely cool Maybe one day I will make another account and play I still absolutely adore the aesthetic of Neopets

The technical issue was probably from too many people visiting at the same time. Every time you click on a new page, your computer will send a request to the server for that page. The server will then need to find the relevant information for that page and will send all that info back to your computer. The sever can only handle so many requests at once and sometimes if more people are visiting the website at the same time it gets more requests then it can handle. That will cause it to take forever on your request or it can even end up never responding. Its pretty similar to making an oder at a busy restaurant. The kitchen might get overwhelmed with orders end up taking forever.

As a new Neopets player, I actually really enjoyed the festival! I did pretty well with the prizes and got some stuff that was pretty good :) I know most people were upset online but… my bank account is poppin now haha! Oh and I got to paint 4 pets which was crazy coming on as a new player

Each user makes a request (that's like inching forward in your car a bit) and there are only so many lanes to handle the changing requests, so you have to wait for a spot to open up that let's you go.
Like if you had an intellegent car that only moved forward after the person in front of you moved and made space.
Neopets can pay more money to have more lanes, but that would be like adding more lanes to a freeway that is usually empty. They won't do it until they realize that on average there are more neopet players than there used to be and it's profitable to pay for more servers.
Also the reason why there were two slingshot purchases is because, due to how many people were using the website, each purchase for 1 bundle of slingshots would go through twice. It really seems like this event brought a lot of people into neopets. I wish I knew about it sooner because I used to play but I was always one of those soup kitchen players.
while i didnt get enough points for the stamp, i did manage to get some paintbrushes & FFQs for all my dreamies at the time. like i never thought i could paint cuddlycalf pastel but here she issss!! im relatively new given as a kid i was too overwhelmed to actually play so i never though i could get these items or get to paint pets at all. best event ever

also i was on mobile and didnt get the prompt to pick and i tapped the screen to try to get it to load or something and it picked illusen's festival for me when i wanted jhudora and i regret it every day 😭 illusen was my fave to stare at as a little baby child but now im an adult goth and want bat wing stuff more than anything 😭

i watched this entire video despite my only prior exposure to neopets was having a couple hand-me-down plushies from my sister growing up lol
I have to confess that some years ago I was a full grown 16-18 year old and would hostile buyout all the items that would pop up in random faerie quests. Any kid selling that stuff under my price I would buy then raise the floor on the prices to where I was selling dirt pies and stuff for 500-1000np for a solid 7 months while my insane fixation lasted. I had tabs open to haggle shopkeepers down, would flip 100-300k neopoints a day after I did my dailies and had an auto-refresher going on some shops.
I'm glad to see I wasn't the only psychopath hustling kids and grown women for imaginary points just to paint my Graarl with a starry paintbrush.

As someone who knows little to nothing about Neopets, but a lot about the capricious and chaotic nature of folkloric and mythologic faeries: all of this Fairie Festival bullshit feels lore accurate!
I started playing Neopets again after like 20 years because of your videos and I'm so glad I got to experience this event myself. Truly blursed (but mostly blessed) way to experience my first big site event. This video was such a perfect summation of it, too.

Thank you for the magical intro. I was addicted to Neopets over a decade ago, obsessed with trading and min-maxing, until my account was hacked and I quit for good. It's hard for me to watch Neo content now, but those first couple minutes of trading horror and admin messing with players is bizarrely cathartic. Sorry to anyone who got the short end of that stick.

The technical issue was probably from too many people visiting at the same time.
Every time you click on a new page, your computer will send a request to the server for that page. The server will then need to find the relevant information for that page and will send all that info back to your computer.
The sever can only handle so many requests at once and sometimes if more people are visiting the website at the same time it gets more requests then it can handle. That will cause it to take forever on your request or it can even end up never responding.
Its pretty similar to making an oder at a busy restaurant. The kitchen might get overwhelmed with orders end up taking forever.
