1. How do you flatten the carborundum serrated flattening stone? 2. Doesn't the nagura slurry generating stone leave its own particles in that 8000 stone?
The brand is 兼友. I'm pretty sure this is the set shown in the vid: store.shopping.yahoo.co.jp/iinedougushopping/k-t-5-n-5-2.html I also found 5- and 10-chisel sets by the same manufacturer for 55% off the normal price at this site: www.uedakanamono.co.jp/show.php?no=12541 Not sure if that's the same type of product as the one used in the vid, though.
I don't think the Japanese sites specify; however, this site showing the same product says that they are indeed "professional quality": wnwoodworkingschool.com/shop/kanetomo-10-pc-chisel-set/ The second link I shared in my previous comment seems to show HSS-laminated chisels (I assume that's what the A-6 stands for?), but I have no idea about the chisels in the first set.
I have a question, Why is on the bottom side 2 mm about the cutting edge hollow? If you are past those 2 mm by sharpen them then you can't longer use the chisel right?
Mr. White I'm not an expert but I think the chisels are hollow on the bottom because it's a very hard steel. Japanese chisel are laminated steel, the bottom(cutting edge) is the harder steel and the top is softer steel(I think I read somewhere that it's to absorb vibrations?). you can see in the video the laminated steel. anyways, the chisel are hollow on the bottom so you don't have to spend forever trying to flatten the bottom. again, not an expert 😀. hope this helps.

Nick Oroc the brand is in the description (oire nomi )
Oire nomi is the type of chisel. Basically a general purpose working chisel.I would like to know the make too if possible?

Hola! Excelente forma de presentar los videos! Súper claro y explicativo!
A very helpful video! What type of oil were you using toward the end of the video? It appeared you were applying it to both metal and wood.
Hello David san :D
It is a my favorite multipurpose oil "grape seed oil".
For rust prevention for metal. And glazing and protection for wood!
bayashi23 I have gallons of that stuff makes food taste sweet
What is chisel brand? Can i find in amazon japan?
Where did you find your massive ura-oshi? If you have flattened it yourself, how do you do it?
Hi how match it cost?
Missed quite a few corners on the bigger chisels on the bevel side. Not flat.
金盘の研磨剤の粒度はいくらですか?
thank you for the info and links 😊

That sounds plausible, but lately I realized that it also gives less resistance because there is less friction.
But thank you for your vision
Mr. White Less surface doesn't mean less friction necessarily :)
恐縮ですm(__)m
