Oh my goodness, I love hearing your stories. Reminds me of when my brother married his wife. He asked her to fry him some chicken and she put the whole chicken in the skillet (she didnt know how to cut a chicken up for frying) and was wondering why it didnt fry up like our moms. LOL needless to say the next time my brother wanted fried chicken he either got it from my mom or went to KFC.
Too funny LOL 😂! That reminds me of me when I got married too. Only I did know how to cut up a chicken but I had a few other blunders before I learned as I went .

I can't wait to get my hands on the buttermilk powder! My momma always used whole milk and white vinegar to make her buttermilk and so that's how I do it. The ease of that powder is what I'm looking forward to ❤

Pone bread is just biscuits without the rolling, kneading, cutting, etc. My Mom made it if she was in a hurry. And I make it as well. But mine is nothing like this.

My daddy said my mom burned several pots of pinto beans before she learned how to cook them. He said she didn’t realize just how much water you needed to use. I got an instant pot last Christmas and it’s the best thing for making pinto beans. The beans get tender without cooking to mush like they do in a crockpot. I like my pinto beans cooked with a ham hock, onions and a can of Rotel tomatoes and my secret ingredient brewed coffee, about a cup for a pound of beans. You don’t taste the coffee but it makes the beans taste richer.

Beautiful People deserve Beautiful things.
I look and soak my dryed pinto beans in hot water and let them soak at night until water cools. I drain the beans and put them in my crock pot an add enough water to cover the beans by a couple inches. I add 4-5 slices of chopped up bacon and couple tablespoons salt. I put it on about 10pm and cook them on 8 hr setting snd let them cook overnight. If I have ham hock I put it in instead of bacon. Next morning I put crockpot on warm and hold the beans all day. They r better than in csn and your not standing over drive all day!

My mom would make pone bread when I was younger. But if I remember correctly hers wasn’t thick. Boy do I miss my mom’s cooking. I wish you’d make a cookbook. I’d be one of the first to buy it. And I have bought some powder buttermilk for my friend in my hometown, she absolutely loves it. I buy it from Kroger ❤

Love your channel . I sent a gift but it wouldn’t let me put a note it’s purple birds and flowers . I grew up living with my Great Gram and Grandma and momma so this reminds me so much of what I loved most about this life . I have my momma she’s 80 and my 4 Sons but I sure miss them so much . I love all the recipes as j am the cook for my family now . I like using butter milk but in Ca everything is so expensive and I’ve never heard of the powder so excited to try it . Hey, I am visiting from North Carolina. I'm originally from Georgia. 😊 I've used that brand of buttermilk once. It's hard to find. I just use milk and vinegar if needed for baking. I've not had pone bread. Interesting. Thanks. God bless you and your family. ❤
Just absolutely Love hearing the stories about your life so much because you remind me of my Grandmother an she would do the same thing for us when I was growing up an one of your stories helped me remember one of the best ones of when she was five years old an she lived in Tazewell Tn, which most know it by Claiborne county Tenn, in a holler, called Lil Caney valley and she seen a black and white cat so she thought she was going to bring it home to her mother her older siblings had went a head of her on the way home from school an so she proceeded to pick up this small, black and white cat at the time that’s what she thought it was and just as her siblings had just went into the house she was fixing to head in the house with that black and white cat and her mom came out real turned out to be a skunk and then when her mother panicked and yelled for her to put it down when she did, she got sprayed by that little skunk to this day I think I have her telling me that and me laughing so hard I cried, but she said her mother put her in an old wash pan and I can’t pouring tomato juice all over her but she said the tomato juice didn’t quite work as well as people thinks it does lol. Not the man she married my grandpa well he was from Morristown Tn an he would walk to court her an hitchhike away, but he said he walked most of the way in between where he was raised and she was raised by 60 something miles and he an she met at tobacco warehouse in Morristown Tenn, an he said he fell in love she was seven teen before her daddy would let them get married. I just feel blessed that you talking about your stories has helped me remember so much of my lost memories of the one’s God called home so long ago. I just Thank you so much an keep them coming an the cooking for sure an anything else you feel blessed enough to share! God bless you a each of your family members.

It’s good to have in the pantry to use in a pinch if you don’t have fresh but it’s kinda expensive. I always have buttermilk, it won’t hardly go bad. I’ve used it way after the use by date with no problems.

How can you tell when sour milk spoils? I feed my buttermilk with the last little bit of each gallon of regular milk. It's just a curiosity question. I grew up with cattle and we made all of our own buttermilk and butter. I've only seen it separate and you can just shake it up. Does it mold?🙏
