- In this weeks episode, James is off to meet Jodi and her husband Roger. Jodi has two small children aged two and four. She is so busy with her children that she doesn't get time to clean. She hasn't cleaned her oven in six years and has never cleaned the stove apart from a few wipes here and there. We also meet Kristy who travels down to Kettering to meet Kay who are immense hoarders.
Half a million of Brits change our bed linen just three times a year. Yet there is a group of Britons who wage a constant war on dirt and order. This brand new series follows Brits who - by their own admission - are so obsessed with cleaning they can't relax if there is a spot on a tap or a rain mark on the windows!

The stay at home mum kinda infuriated me. I work 50 hours a week as a teacher. My house isn’t a show home but it’s cleaned every Saturday from top to bottom, clean the kitchen as I go. Job done!
Yes I was a cleaner but there to take her to and from school house has to be clean it’s worse when a teen clothes everywhere! Can’t decide so it goes on floor and I’d think it needs washing soon got her to put back in wardrobe bed bribary 😂 joys of motherhood

She claims the smell of bleach and chemicals irritate her and that might be true, but soap, cleaning vinegar, lemon, baking soda and hot water are all good alternatives to off-the-shelf bleach and ammonia. She also claimed that she "just gives it a wipe." Nothing in the kitchen suggests she was wiping up anything at all. Lazy.
My mum has 7 children. Even when she had 6 living at home at the same time, 5 with special needs or bad health conditions such as M.E. and epilepsy, the house was immaculate. This mum is the epitome of LAZY and acts like having a 2 year old at home all day means she can't do anything. Having children is not a debilitating disability love!!
first of all the labor your mom did was extremely over board and im sure your mother was super exhausted. i think yall need to stop shaming mothers for not "doing enough" especially the lot of you that go on about how your mothers did it but in an even more stressful environment. having kids is literally life stopping love!!! women can lose their jobs and many of them have to give up their dreams to take care of children, which sounds like your poor mother did ALOT of.
@@cremepuffle Having one 2 year old or 6 kids is no excuse for the state of her house. It was laziness, period. There's no excuse for living in filth to that degree, she is completely able to clean up. Having kids is not life stopping to the point where you can't clean, sorry to break it to you..

i think that might be a mental coping strategy. she got upset over the comment that he found it suprising that rats werent living under the couch and that made her think is it really me or is it him? she then proceeds to conclude that its him and not her because there are no rats. and apparently not being there = not likely to be there in her mind. so she then says that the reason she's upset isnt because she's embarrassed but because she's a ''mirror'' and she reflected back what vibes he was sending out, and that her feeling horrible meant that he has a horrible energy and that he should try counselling. she doesnt have energy to clean because she's clearly spending all her energy on mental gymnastics
Kristy & Kay were an amazing pairing. There was no judgement on either side and they truly helped each other realise their ways of coping with grief were not healthy. I hope they stayed in touch.
They both have such positive women. They're the kind of people you'd love to have tea with every week (and Ruby, too).
The woman who had the two kids and an absolutely disgusting house had no right to have a go at James like that. She called for HIS help to clean HER OWN house, and as soon as he said the plain truth and risks she had a go at him for her own faults. She has a point that he doesn't know what it's like to have children, but was bang out of order when she said he needed counselling. Bang out of order. On the other hand, James was a little harsh on how he talked to her, but he shouldn't be scolded or told he needs counselling for her mistakes.
I feel so sad for Kay and her hoarding situation, and I hope that she's healing or in the process of it as those situations and things that have happened to her are awful. I hope she takes time to heal and to do so in a healthy way.
You don't need chemicals to clean the stove top. Just a wipe down everyday after cooking with plain dishwasher liquid. Takes 5mins
Dishwasher liquid is also…chemicals…your point is probably about bleach, which is WORSE, i agree, but all cleaning solutions have chemicals

Kate and Kristy are just sweet and understanding with each other. So wholesome. In comparison, Judy is just a lazy git who blames everyone else and when she runs out of excuses, throws a selfpity party. What an ungrateful, judgemental hypocrit.
My mom raised three kids, worked, made food, had an immaculate home and took us to all our sport practices, dance competitions, you name it. She did it. Blaming your kids is just an excuse for being lazy and living in filth.

I can sympathise with people suffering from depression, or with a disability that prevents them from living like a normal human being. That lady with the two kids is just lazy. I am supremely confident that in a months time, things will be back to normal in terms of dirt and living like a pig. It's one thing to be selfish and lazy that it affects oneself, but she's exposing those kids to all sorts of hazardous material. The pig in my uncles farm live cleaner than she does. As for the husband, what about getting off your ass and doing something about that FILTH??? There are any number of people with kids who DO NOT live in a pigsty. Shameful. She should be hiding under a rock.
She is a stay at home mom… surely she can be more active? The man is active by working outside… should he come home to a dirty house and then be expected to do it all???

Jody might be one of the people I’ve liked least out of any show I’ve ever watched. He was hostile and rude to James because he wouldn’t give into her tantrums. Poor James, he just wanted to go help someone. No good deed goes unpunished.

Why is there no mention of the husband doing his share to help clean the house. Just because he works outsude the home there are plenty of hours to wipe sown a stove, vacuum, pull out a couch and organize etc. Yes SAHM should do more but he can lead the effort since she is obviously unmotivated.
i was thinking the same. but i was also putting myself in his shoes, he gets up early everyday to go to work all day because he wants to provide for his family, then he comes home tired and there she is surrounded by all that filth and garbage. even if she didnt keep a clean house she could make sure food spilled all over the kitchen gets wiped away once every 6 months?
I was thinking the same thing but honestly, her not working kind of suggests that she shoukd be in charge of keeping house. It's gross that he has been living in that filth along with her and not lifted a finger to get things clean once it got to that horrid state, but I do think it is on her to actually handle the cleanliness of the home. Or at the very least, arrange with him to get someone to deep clean once a week or once a month if it's too much for the both of them.

Ah, the classic excuse of ‘having kids’ I have 2 kids and I work and my house is still clean and tidy. She’s lazy, pure and simple. You don’t have to live in a show home, but if you keep on top of the cleaning it isn’t hard to keep a house tidy

She’s lazy and keeps making excuses and being a mother isn’t an excuse to allow your home to get that dirty, even mothers have some time to do a little at a time. If the mess bothers him which he says it does then he would clean it but him not doing it either shows it doesn’t actually bother him because if it did then he wouldn’t be able to relax until it’s done.
Well, there are millions of mother who can still clean and take care of their children. Her being a mother is an excuse for her not to maintain cleanliness in their house, disgusting.

I had 6 young children including one with Down syndrome who I home educated and my house was messy but never dirty , unacceptable, we had pets too.

I don’t understand how these people, even the compulsive cleaners, wear their outside shoes inside on the carpet and floors. Goodness knows what they’ve stepped in then track filth and germs inside. If they go barefoot, it goes in their beds at night. Gross🤢🤮

People are not allowed to come in my house with their shoes, it s disgusting. They have to wash their hands when coming. And before touching my cats. I m not perfect at all, aging, but I often say to men/friends to bring pants to sit on my couch, it s more clean and relax. But now I need someone to help me because of severe arthritis. I like this show.

They had SIX kids, ran a takeaway AND managed to keep the house AND business clean and tidy enough to pass EVERY SINGLE health inspection. They worked hard (6 days a week from morning till 2am) & sacrificed everything to put us ALL through private school AND kept us all fed, clean, clothed. Not only that, but they were immigrants who lived through the second world war, surviving extreme poverty and didn't even have any secondary school education qualifications and only spoke broken English. So tell me, what's that woman's excuse?

I have a full time job, I drive 2 hours to and from work plus time spend looking for parking in NYC. I cook everyday, my house is clean,there are no excuses to have a dirty home, it was the same when my children were little

You're not doing your children any favors by not teaching them life skills of basic tidying and cleanliness. You haven't taught your children the importance of flushing the toilet. She's just lazy and full of pitiful excuses. Her husband is sick of it, as well he should be.

Sometimes I think that these people are being a little harsh but then I hear this mom talk about how she’s too busy with 2 kids even though one is at school and her saying it’s a full time job to raise them. Girl you’re not even doing the full time job if you’re not cleaning up after the kids at least. Being too busy as a parent is an excuse but it’s only an excuse to an extent. You still have to be trying to take care of them and the home

Yes she asked for help. But then she makes excuses. She has 1 toddler, the older child is at school. It's simple, toddler has 1 hour 'quiet time' after lunch, with their fave cartoon or film: & you clean!

I'm not saying that person is lazy to clean her house because she has children. My sister cleans no problem and she has a 2 year old and a 4 year old who are really little like her kids. She might be telling the truth when she says those chemicals for cleaning really hurt my lungs and my breathing an my eyes. I get that because I have asthma and I have allergies. There is such thing eco-friendly cleaners. She can use boiling hot water and vinegar. I use some cleaning chemicals which don't have a strong smell but I also use vinegar and hot water to clean things. You can use apple cider vinegar or distilled vinegar and it cleans things very well. I cleaned the toilet once when we got a brand new toilet. For some reason after two days the water turned like a clear brown color so I put four tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in the back of the toilet tank. After about another 2 days with the apple cider vinegar, the toilet water turned clear and it cleaned it right up. There are eco-friendly cleaners that don't have toxic smells if that's what she's wondering. If she can't even use toxic free earth friendly house cleaners then she has a lazy problem.
if you work and pay the bills then your partner should spend at least half of your work day cleaning.. they could easily do it in 2 hours a day or less.. non working partners should pull their weight
