    Damn Tom; thanks, you're my favorite teacher on here!! Im stubborn and like to teach myself most things and can't justify paying someone to teach me online cuz i can just look up tabs, etc; but i've gandered your webpage and i'm happy to pay to learn from you; your knowledge and simple/to the point teaching style is valuable and i appreciate you. Finally got back on my feet from being homeless/jobless etc a couple months ago and catching up on bills, etc; but will soon. I generally always only play music i write; but really enjoy and wanna learn how and what the Masters were doing who laid the foundation. Thanks again.

    Another hit to my credit card. :) All of Tom's instructional videos are well done and really teach you the subject at hand. To have access to this kind of instruction thirty years ago would have been mind blowing. Grateful to have it now.

    Great explanations on how and where to make variations and improvise with this song just after 9 mins. A very good lesson indeed. Well done Tom.

    It is very similar to the melody of Fred Mcdowell's "You gotta move". Come on in my kitchen is in open G, Tom does an excellent lesson on that, check it out. I have recently bought his DVD Masters of Bottleneck Blues, should keep me busy in the long winter evenings!

      Yeah. Tampa Red outranked Robert Johnson, the Missippi Sheiks and them all, back in the day.

    A lot of people stole a lot of stuff from these really early blues men...You Gotta Move, Come on in my kitchen...Your Resonator sounds beautiful man. I love the Sebastopol tuning, a good mixture of major and minor, I usually tune up to open E, or Fb as I have a small parlour guitar which sounds a bit flabby in open D. Cheers for another great lesson.

    Fantastic Playing and lesson
    I just wanted to point out;
    Tampa Red wrote this in 1931, several years before
    You Gotta Move and a couple of years before Robert Johnson's Come On In My Kitchen btw

      The Mississippi Sheiks issued Sitting on Top of the World in 1931. Same melody - not sure who is covering whom.

      @@dwbstllambstl It's murky, as this melody is one of the most common blues themes. Even though the classic blues artists are granted copyrights, many of the melodies come out of traditional themes.

      Blues is not about stealing or doing like the other. Blues is an heritage, that everyone should transmit to the others. Blues is a state of mind, a way to live on the margin of the music business and all the dirty effects of it
