- A (VERY abbreviated) overview of the Byzantine Empire, plus an overview of the following works:
~Hagia Sophia
~San Vitale
~ Vienna Genesis
~ Virgin (Theotokos) and Child Between the Saints Theodore and George
(apologies for any distracting background noise: my roommate and his girlfriend came home in the middle of recording and then bathed his dog, hence any whining protestations)

The reasons for the iconoclasm era was not a competition between the Church and the icons. The reasons are faith based and related to obedience to the 2nd commandment.
