Just wanted to say that I told my best friend just now - going through books, we were - about the Dane Preben Torp Jacobsen who via his book, Dry-fly fishing - taught me how to tie in the mid 70s - no YT then, mind you. I said to her: the same with the blessed Davie McPhail: there are thousands and thousands of tiers out there but hardly many like Davie any more - it's about mindset. When one understands this, then it's clear. Wanted to say this Davie! Best, Hakan, Sweden
Thank you kindly for the heart. I started in my teens from Dame Juliana Berner (admittedly crazy for a 17 yr-old Swede from the deep forrest), hand-twisting Frank Sawyer, then George Edward MacKenzie Skues, Ollie Kite etc - but no one like you Davie, and Preben of course 😁
Nora all I need do is be able to stand, walk, and catch some fish! Thanks for you expertise and sharing your skills!
Thank You Davie. This pattern appears to have the versatility of the Dynamite Harry series of flies you presented. Really enjoy tying the D.H. flies and they have caught a lot of fish !!!
Hello Davey. I’m catching up on videos I’ve missed while fishing the West branch of the Delaware tail water in NY. Very difficult fish to fool and catch but we did pretty well. The patterns and techniques you demonstrate help keep me passionate and coming back for more! Many thanks.
You provide inspiration for my experiment patterns Davie. Oh and the quality of the tying is to aspire to. Many thanks.
Excellent instruction and explained to perfection. Well done again, and many thanks, Davie.

Very nice! 👍
❤❤😊
hi davie, sometimes you lay the thread base down a few turns and break off, other times you take it farther down the hook shank. How do you decide how far down to go?
You changed the way you tied the CDC in, compared to the way you tied this same fly in 2016. Is this a better method?
👍💪
Harelaw 👌
