  • More info on Wingsuit BASE jumping at base-book.com/ Here is some wingsuit BASE video from Alps that I shot with my friends. My web site www.SuperTopo.c... Movie stars Jt Holmes, Yuri, Jim Mitchell, Chris McNamara and more. Voice overs by JT Holmes (Beevis voice).
About me: I am a BASE jumper and climber who spends most of his time running the web site www.SuperTopo.c... My main interest now (other than climbing and falling) is creating gear reviews for the best climbing and outdoor gear and developing a price finder so people can find the best prices on outdoor gear. That great music sets the mood for the exilerating danger. The guys seem goofy, but the sport is deadly and the thrill is the pay off, and I can feel it.

I wish you could remaster this! You inspired my love for base jumping, as well as my love for this song. Way back in the day, it took me years to find that track before shazaam and all these other services were available. I hope you consider it!

Wow that is amazing. I didn't think those suits were for real but they clearly are! It looks so scary when you're going face first into a rock then suddenly the effect of the suit kicks in but it also looks like so much fun!

eiger is one of the best places on earth to bassjump i would recomend bassjumping later in the day when the warm air starts to rise creating currents which will uplift you and keep you in the air for longer. Ive jumped off eiger and skydived on mt. blanc :)

On an average human body, about 3 square feet of material will create enough drag (air resistance) to slow a falling body by over 50%. The suits have much more surface area due to the wing webbing and leg webbing.
Also the structure of the human body with the suit on makes a perfect wing, with a rounded thicker front and wing behind it. With practice one can actually create lift with the suit on, allowing you to gain small amounts of altitude after falling and gaining airspeed.

I know that glide performance in the best wing suit is above 3:1. My question is at what rate of descent is that number achieved? What are the forward speeds? What is the minimum descent speed achievable trading speed for a flat glide? With these questions I'm really leading to this final question: Has anybody attempted a wing-suit landing in/on the water without deploying their chute?

It can take a while but you need to learn to freefall first and learn to skydive, AFF courses are the best for learning skydiving then they reccomend you do 250+ skydive jumps first before trying BASE jumps then you can learn to use the wingsuit and mix it in with your BASE jumps

Geez, base jumping is awesome but so dangerous. My cousin did base-jumping about three years ago in Sweden and, unfortunately, came too close to a rocky outcropping. He clipped it, broke his shoulder and collarbone, and ended up doing a shitty landing. I think he shattered his knee-cap or his hip, but anyways, now he needs crutches everywhere he goes. Poor guy; I guess he's lucky he diddn't die, though.

hey richyboy i'm curious as to where you got your statistics because i've been rock climbing for most of my life and never had an injury. I'm confused first you said "base jumping has the same safety rate as rock climbing" then said "When compared with other 'extreme' sports BASEjumping's safety record is better than rock climbing"...I' guess somone who has no experience knows best.

That's a joke, right? I lived in Minnesota for 13 years, I cannot think of a single cliff tall enough to risk a BASE jump, never mind a wing-suit flight. On the other hand, there are TONS of very tall radio towers which might be the ticket...but I have no direct information.
As to buildings, what about the Sears Tower, or any private residences in the top floors of the John Hancock tower in Chicago.
