We have just bought a new swift Kon-tiki 794 from Abacus and collect it in the next two weeks. We used them because their service department did some work on our auto trail Tracker under warranty without any fuss, we did not buy the van from them. These dealers need to realize that their whole offering makes a difference. Great video and great to hear you have a good story to tell, Well done Abacus.
Hi, we totally agree that having the whole offering that Abacus do is what all dealers need to offer. Everything under one roof. Glad you have had a good experience and i'm sure they we look after all your needs in the future. Happy travels 😊
Great to see all your snag/faults what ever you call them done l feal your pain l got a brand new bailey autograph 816 last year everytime i take it on a trip something falls off or breaks its now got to go back to the bailey factory to have part of the ceiling replaced shocking build quality they build them like they do not move i would never had got a motorhome if i knew the way they put them together waited 17 months for my van and waited over a year for bailey to fix their manufactoring faults well done bailey
Thank you it is good most jobs are now complete however that’s not to say more will show up fingers crossed they don’t. I feel for you having waited so long for a Motorhome with so many faults and still waiting for more to be fixed. I’ve no experience with Bailey Motorhomes as like the Swifts but they all seem to have problems. Sometimes it’s luck of the draw which it shouldn’t be. Hope you get all your faults rectified and you can enjoy the Motorhome as it should be used. 👍😊
Always something to keep on top of in the MH. Re the central locking not working all the time. We have a Carthasgo with the same type of door contracts. On many occasions I get failure of the central locking.. I have found that there may be a contact issue. I thave a small piece of wire wool( or anything slight abrasive) and rub the flat terminals each end. This seems to solve the issue. It maybe just a build of of oxide on the ends that just stops the flow of 12v power. Good luck on that part
Hi, you are right there is always something to keep on top off with the maintenance on the MH. Thank you for the tip with the door and if it happens again i'll try the wire wool. Strangely it's playing ball at the moment however i'm sure the issue will come back again. Thanks again and happy travels 😊
Hopefully you will get it soon and we are looking to seeing it on your vlogs. Let’s hope you don't have any problems with your new motorhome however all in all we and more than happy with the quality of workmanship. 😊
Hate to say this we had problems with our autotrail on quite a few occasions . And the dealership had it booked into the factory with a free hotel, on the resent problem six year old there was damp found no problems replaced the whole backend and rear floor 😀
We have an Escape 674 the PSU is on the door side just in front of the door. I had a problem with the van and I took out the PSU and I noticed there were some trapped wires. I pointed these out to the dealer and they did relocate the wires to the correct location. I didn’t have a problem with the central door locking but it will be worth checking. I believe your 694 the PSU is on the other side but the wires will be in the same location. I’ll send you a picture on Messenger.
We have the Escape 694 2023, similar issue with the door, waiting for a replacement. Experienced a similar issue with the central door lock I traced it to a weak connection in a cable joint. If you look behind the internal door seal next to the hinge there are connectors where the main loom connects in, might be worth looking at.
Axcactly i don't care how much you pay for a van they always have faults (nature of the beast i suppose) lets be fair there is so much stuff on motorhomes something is going to go!!! We have the 884 and had the same issue with the hab door but they sealed it and is perfect, our roof window blind is very stiff i don't think we have thise plastic clips though so when i go to storage yard next i will look at that, thanks for that. As you say swift are a well built van and we've been very happy with the quality of our past 2, there are alit of bits in these vans that swift (and other make have no control over) like windows (dometic) fridges (dometic) heating (alde) microwave etc etc. Great video Lee thanks for showing, she stills looks good and clean. X
Thank you, It's so true to many complain however with everything fitted into our van we are happy it's only a few faults as it's inevitable it's going to happen. Happy your door is sorted as i'm sure ours will be eventually but it's no real issue. Try some dry silicone in the blind runners it really helps with the stiffness. 😊
Thanks for the heads up we are in the process of looking for our 1st MH and Ave been looking at Swift kon tiki sports and the new voyagers we are off for a factory tour next month so looking forward to that I will certainly be more vigilant on the motorhome that we do buy thanks to your video.👍what is the ceramic coating not heard about that thank you.
Hi when we did this video it was important for us that we shared our experience to help others who are new to motorhoming or when purchasing any van. We definitely do not want to put anyone off and like you said we wanted to highlight the fact people should be vigilant when purchasing. A good dealer will allow you to point out any snags and fix them for you on purchase. We did a vlog on the ceramic coating that will explain it better. Look for the one called 'Smashed Window and Ceramic Coating'. 😊 Enjoy your factory visit, good luck with your new van when you choose one and happy travels 😊
Great vlog Lee, slowly but surely its coming together even though you or others shouldn't have to go through the issues ... we've been waiting 5 months with very little feedback even though we are continually chasing "Lowdhams" for updates
@lifes4touring it's more frustrating when promises are made but never kept from the dealership, simple things such as logo's, the dealership saying that they are in but when calling no one is available... arrhhh bloody frustrating
Hi thank you, unfortunately i'm not able to help because they came with the motorhome when we purchased it. I've seen similar on Amazon but can't confirm what ones. 👍
Hi. Thanks for such an informative vlog. We have a 794 on order, due in October. We chose that model after seeing yours :) nothing you have said here has put us off, just made us aware of what to look out for. A random question, what size tv do you have? We will have one in the lounge area and bedroom. Thanks in advance and keep up your good work :)
Hi thank you and glad we could help you choose your motorhome. The 794 is a great van. You may be getting the longer model now the with more space in the bedroom. We love our van and glad the video has not put you off. We just wanted to share our experience to help people look out for potential issues as soon as they pick up their van. 😊 The TV is 24 inch and we have one in the bedroom too. Good luck with your new van and happy travels 😊
Hi, so within your kit in the garage, there will be something that has a hook on one end and a handle on the other. Something that will look like the pole to take in and out your awning but smaller. On the driver-side part of the garage to the rear, you will see something to hook this on just under the bed and a pull-out locking pin. Undo the pin and turn, one way will raise the bed and the other will lower it. This is hard to explain so hope it makes sense, if not Email us and I'll send some pictures which may help explain it better. Happy travels 😊
I really wonder how motorhome brands get away with such poor quality control. We have an Autotrail Apache which is 12 years old and I would expect some issues due to the age. We full time in our van and MOT is always interesting!Lovely looking van btw.
Hi and thank you, quality control should have a list to tick off as they go through and probably do so I always wonder how can things get missed 🤷♂️ Hope your enjoying full time van life 😊 stay safe and happy travels 😊
I think a lot of businesses these days work on averages re faults. Not the likelihood of faults occurring but rather the likelihood of customers complaining/reporting them. As customers, the camper/caravan community need to complain about every fault they can under warranty. Once this starts to cost the manufacturer too much only then will they up their game at the build stage.
Hi great video, we have just bought a swift as caring 372 very pleased with just done first weekend last week at Highlands End great sight and location, did you buy from Abacus or were they recommended for warranty work just wondering for us if the time comes as pretty local for us. Many thanks.
Hi thank you. Glad you are enjoying your new van. We are currently enjoying the view at Highlands end and it looks like it's going to be a nice day not too windy. 😊 We bought our van from Lowe and Rhodes however it is quite far from us and were lucky to find Abacus as it is local for us too. Have a great weekend and happy travels 😊
Hi yes we agree with that however a good dealer should allow you to report any snags on purchase and fix them for you. We are lucky to have some warranty on our van and a good local garage for any repairs. Happy Travels 😊

I appreciate that thank you 😊 Happy travels 😊

I think a lot depends on who in the factory does the build as I haven’t had those issues with my 784. My dealer is fabulous and sorted my niggles.

One reason we bought the pre2005 vehicle mafe to last
I can understand the build quality maybe better not to sure with appliances or vehicle though, just my personal thoughts 😊 Happy travels 😊
When you take your van in on warranty it always take twice as long for them to fix it.
I'm sure it does which is a shame really
how much was ya van pal??

That's so bad considering the price of these vans. Poor quality control.
