In N.L. Vacation, you will notice there were two Family Truckster wagons at the dealership. So, after the first one was pretty much totaled, Clark went and bought another one!
Even with the damage done, that thing was far from totaled (it was a brand new car, and would have been worth fixing). My theory is that he just left it in california after the original movie (probably traded it in to get what he could for it). The original ending had them flying home instead of driving, so that makes sense. After moving out to California, he finds the car again and has it restored.
@@jestertech3790 word has it in the original script of the 1983 Vacation, Clark does in fact TOTAL the Truckster at Roy Walley’s house by crashing through the front gate, shooting out the radio, driving through Walley’s backyard and sending the Truckster to its deathbed by landing it on Walley’s porch, and Clark confronting Walley on why the park was closed. However the test audience did not like this ending and thus the ending was rewritten to what we famously see when Clark takes security guard Russ Laskey hostage and he and the family ride rides throughout Walley World and when Roy Walley arrives, Clark convinces Walley not to arrest them

The family trickster used in this movie was built by a family in Georgia I believe, and was built for the express purpose of taking road trips. Green light collectables in Indianapolis, Indiana used this car to design their scale models of the National lampoon's vacation car.

That truckster was/is actually researched, built and owned by a family of fans whose name is honestly Griswold!! Built before this movie was started out of their own pocket! They did a great job, and actually drove cross country with it! Hats off.

I'm sorry, but I just cannot watch this movie without Anthony Michael Hall and Dana Barron playing Rusty and Audrey. It just doesn't work at all for me. The other movies had different actors playing Rusty and Audrey as KIDS, and that somehow worked and they were great, but you just have to have one of the pairs of the old R&A actors (I realize Dana Hill has passed on though), preferably the original, coming back as adults with a family of their own to do it justice.

The last movie sucked bricks. The only thing that didnt suck was the Truckster. If the movie had of had Heavy Old Chevy in it a bit more than a few minutes, it might have done better. He generates laughs easily! Even fat and older.
