The worst trend rn is probably the lazy nostalgia bait sampling in songs like “Lovin on Me”.
Especially cause interpolation can actually be cool if it adds to the song musically or ties into the theme in an interesting way. I feel like interpolation is being ruined for a lot of people by a wave of lazy, cashgrab examples of it

There is a reason why musicians and other artists are happy to share their influences. Trends stem from a shared collection of people that happen to have been influenced by the same or similar ideas. It will continue along forever.
Some artists are trying to make songs that will become trends, which makes it seem forced and more like a marketing stunt than a trend started by legitimate fans of a good piece of media. Its like what happened with Saw Patrol, who were trying to copy Barbenheimer, which was coincidental.
