Went to the San diego show and everyone was lame af during vince. Everyone was lit for tyler rightfully so and the women vibed heavy to kali uchis (I just couldnt) but vince had me on a wavy vibe. His performance was great
I have not liked any of his old albums and have always felt very underwhelmed and this album is a 10 to me I’m 4 listens deep already and it’s my front runner for AOTY
For me it's more like a 7.5/10 which is good but I liked his self titled album better. I think he did really well with Kenny beats and what he did with the production
for me because of the lack of passion i felt in the songs and the and the songs that felt more like party songs that are played in the background for people to bob their heads to just made me feel like i was missing something more there were lyrical songs and there are great vibes but overall it left me wanting more than what i got it’s a 6/10 for me
I feel exactly the same way. The beats on self titled were so colorful and interesting, and Vince did a great job working with those beats. On this album the production just feels too minimalistic, and the beats with more momentum can sometimes get dragged down by Vince's sleepy delivery. There are songs on this project that I love such as When Sparks Fly, Papercuts and Rose Street, but for the most part it all just blends together.
@@ktrl.1782 There's a difference between cohesive and repetitive. Songs like Slide, Mama's Boy and Bang That don't do anything that stands out, and because of that I don't think they're necessary. On self titled every song either has a memorable hook, verse or beat that sets it apart from the rest, while still maintaining the same soundscape. I think his self titled definitely had some of the best beats I ever heard but I think with this album Vince sounded more west coast if that makes sense but I feel like the reason for that was due to the fact that it's more based on his home rather than the self titled project which is more of him and his artistic ability , hence why it's called Vince Staples. That's what I think but still think this could be an album of the year and I love the laid back contribution he has on the tracks

@@griffinhorne1972 I disagree. The self titled album had back to back bangers, and the flow was immaculate. With this album it just feels so choppy and different in my opinion. Like the vibes change after every song and the flow is just not there for me
I can respect Shawn's opinion lol. I think I need to have more listens before establishing a solid consensus. So far, I do think more could've been done with his voice & those who were on the tracks with him. The vibe is a bit monotonous, perhaps that's what they were going for. But oddly enough (at least in comparison to Shawn's opinion) I feel like this album has a warmer feeling than previous ones. Maybe it's the production idk...
From first listening you get pulled in by the beauty laid back vibes you hear a Beach wave through out the whole album. Vince flows are very calm and melancholy like listening to a ocean vibe playlist. On the surface the album sound beautiful it looks beautiful long beach looks beautiful on the surface but when you go below and the surface and see whats going on your realize like Vince said "Ain't nothing sweet ask suga free". The writing is very dark very menacing. You get story and warning of the life in Romana park and how it broke his heart. Thats at least my interpretation of it.
I like that someone explaining (quite well I might add) the problems of the album is a problem now & you have to compare him to someone else who illustrates their own personal preference.
Thank you Shawn Cee for reviewing music, from an unbiased opinion it’s either you like it or not No label biases nobody in your pocket getting you to say good things about an artist Also your Ascetic in your room is very peaceful Much love to you
I think a lot of people are forgetting Vince’s albums are all about perception and the meaning of them. From summertime to present every album has meant something and followed a theme. I see a lot of comments reflecting on his “lack of effort” the whole album is called Ramona park broke my heart, the vibe isn’t meant to be fully uplifting and although there’s a hand pick of uplifting songs, Vince is clearly trying to show you the demoralizing end of an era that he succeeded in. It’s an album that once you listen from start to back over n over again you pick up on the small things, the overall sound. Congrats to Vince on making 2 incredible albums within 12 months
I'm listening to this, The House is Burning & Blue Lips. Each im happy I picked up in early March. Each I enjoyed on the first time around. I just let them repeat from beginning to end a few times to digest it all.
You gotta understand Vince is loc and everyday is a experience with him you gotta understand that his point of the way he makes his music is different. Those stories he's telling is real and that's why you hear a relaxed version of him. It's a good thing because he grew into something other than we see him right now. He giving us heat next year It's vibe I'm getting from him.
I feel like I see vince more human now because he put his pain out there. I really only see him as a gangster rapper but now he put his pain out. Overall it was a really good album
I really loved this album off the first listen and I already claimed it to be AOTY contender. Vince has done it again. I think it’s as good as the self titled last year.
I really disagree with Shawn’s on his relationship lyrics. After listening to self-Titled, he got pretty real about his love game saying he hits it once and then he is stuck. Now he’s saying he has been hurt by being in love, he speaks about a girl that got away, and tells someone that he loves he will watch over them from heaven if he dies. I don’t think Vince is trying to be entertaining, the lyrics are him being open about his personal struggle with love. It’s Vince Staples’ love experience thus far and it feels very genuine and relatable to me. If you care about this man and his journey then you can let those emotions speak for themselves.
I think the reason why Vince made his vocals so laid back this album is because if Ramona park broke his heart, then he might not try to sound like he's full of energy right after a heartbreak or talking about something that has left a mark on him
I might be wrong but i think throughout the album he represents Ramona Park as a lover. That’s why out of context it might sound like regular relationship problems you hear in most r&b songs. But I do agree he could’ve been more personal on this album and standout more instead of sounding like background music. but other than that I thought it was a good album.
Vince Staples is undoubtedly the most underrated artist with one of the best discographies and progression of any artist out. He constantly delivers.

Bro I feel u I was at Tyler first concert and the crowd was dead asf when Vince performance I was so disappointed.
I thoroughly enjoyed this album, the comments makin me sad
That y i almost never read comment sections anymore ,people just be ruining stuff
I went to Tylers Atlanta show and the crowd was dead for Vince staples there too. They were more there for Kali and Tyler. They went crazy for them
niiiiiiiiiiice wallpaper and neck tat bro
even better when u realise that it starts and ends with beach sounds, shits blisss
The transitions laced throughout the album are too smooveee
From first listening you get pulled in by the beauty laid back vibes you hear a Beach wave through out the whole album. Vince flows are very calm and melancholy like listening to a ocean vibe playlist.
On the surface the album sound beautiful it looks beautiful long beach looks beautiful on the surface but when you go below and the surface and see whats going on your realize like Vince said "Ain't nothing sweet ask suga free".
The writing is very dark very menacing. You get story and warning of the life in Romana park and how it broke his heart. Thats at least my interpretation of it.
Shawn Cee turning into Fantano with these reviews
I like that someone explaining (quite well I might add) the problems of the album is a problem now & you have to compare him to someone else who illustrates their own personal preference.
Watch fantano give this a 7
this is vince best album since summertime 06 easily
Thank you Shawn Cee for reviewing music, from an unbiased opinion it’s either you like it or not
No label biases nobody in your pocket getting you to say good things about an artist
Also your Ascetic in your room is very peaceful
Much love to you
In 2022 im just appreciative of Artist still releasing music because the pandemic could’ve crushed many artist desires to continue to do what they do
when sparks fly 🔥 gaddamn
In my opinion, East Point Prayer is my favorite of the album 🔥🔥🔥
Shawn sleep🤦🏽♂️
It’s definitely dope!
I'm listening to this, The House is Burning & Blue Lips. Each im happy I picked up in early March. Each I enjoyed on the first time around. I just let them repeat from beginning to end a few times to digest it all.
This album was a fucking vibe
This dude just always has some negative energy towards magic.

If you from California you gon love this sound. Sum smooth to ride to
This might be my favorite project from Vince.
Totally agree with the thoughts on the crowd at Tyler’s Concert, I was going crazy and not enough people were marching the same energy for Vince
I saw him live at a Tyler show. He was fantastic. Magic live is incredible
Yeah...same. Hopefully it'll grow on me with more listens. Thanks for the video.
I really loved this album off the first listen and I already claimed it to be AOTY contender. Vince has done it again. I think it’s as good as the self titled last year.
been my favorite rapper since his big fish album
Track 2 is perfect Cali summer vibes
My favourite Vince album in years tbh, since big fish theory. It gets better the more you listen imo, he killed this album
There goes Shawn threatening the FKA Twigs vinyl again
I think the reason why Vince made his vocals so laid back this album is because if Ramona park broke his heart, then he might not try to sound like he's full of energy right after a heartbreak or talking about something that has left a mark on him
at the tyler concert i was like the only one in my row turning up to vinces set
Favorite Vince staples album
The self titled album hit immediately, this one you definitely gotta sit with for a few listens.
Although I enjoyed his self titled more I think this album is good, could’ve done without some tracks but it grew on me more after the first listen.
The crowd loved Vince at the Atlanta show during the tour with Tyler
WHEN SPARKS FLY is the best song the album
Vince probably made these songs to be in the background of movies and tv shows on purpose for the checks and residuals 🤣
He said that in an interview, his goal is syncing.
Shawn yelling Anxiety at Twigs was enough for me. Top lad
0:34 “This might be Vince Staples best project”
13:01 “This is my least favorite Vince Staples record.”
BURSTED out laughing.
