This is a fantastic channel and with this fact I'm a little ashamed to admit that I do not own a JHS pedal of my own. When I've got some cash to throw around, my next pedal purchase is going to you guys for sure. I hope this channel keeps going strong for years to come.

Dude Audioslave self titled was so awesome. It was the marriage of two incredible bands making sweet sweet music. They blew my mind and kept getting better every album.
This pedal is not only rad but a major bargain. It’s a phaser, a Leslie, a fuzz, an OC-2, and a POG all in one. Really. And I don’t know if Josh mentioned this, but with the expression pedal not only can you *switch between two settings but you can actually *fade between settings, so if (for example) heel down = slight modulation + quiet sub octave, and toe down = heavy modulation + louder sub + loud octave up… You can fade into the toe setting, gradually introducing the heavier flavor, then ease back into your more subtle setting. (FYI: The fuzz is more of an all or nothing thing; it doesn’t really fade in. But still, you can adjust the volume of it, thereby basically adjusting the amount of fuzz in relation to the rest of your sound.)
I love MXR so much. The Sugar Drive is so good. My Whammy DT takes up so much space. I could sell it and get this and the Drop pedal instead and free up some space and add a fuzz to my board.

You have shown your bassist in the jams before, but last time it happened it wasn't Addison! 3. I love that both "he has the box" and the theme song are in C Major; it really made that combo extra nice.

MXR are fantastic pedals especially for their price, I have the Sugar Drive and is my favourite drive pedal at present, I love the dynamic range of it with your pick attack and was only £99 new in the uk. The Poly Blue Octave sounds great in your video and is a really versatile pedal, it looks cool and I think is fairly priced at £199 uk for the range of effects you get and the build quality will have the MXR excellence. Good video JHS, thanks
This episode has my new favorite jams. “Lazer Duel at High Noon” was SICK. Is there hope for an extended version in the future? “Star Jelly Sandwich” too?
If I didn't have a POG2 already I think this pedal would be right up my alley. Thanks for the demos! I do have the Bass Octave Deluxe from MXR though. That's not polyphonic.

The Boss OC-5 has two outs, so you can choose what effects for your octaved or otherwise dry signal, and/or run them to different amps. I love mine. It has bass and guitar mode, and the tracking is way better than the POGs. Tracking is similar to the excellent new versions of the Digitech Whammy/Bass Whammy.
Hey. I just wanted to say I love your intro music. I vibe to it every single time no matter how many JHS videos I've watched back to back. It reminds me of Feel it All Around by Washed Out, which is another thing I look forward to every time I watch Portlandia.
I’m really considering getting this to use on bass. I wouldn’t have much use for the 2 octave down on bass, but all the other useful sounds you can get out of this pedal would make it worth it. Just my 2 cents..
There are only a few bass-based demos/reviews of this pedal, but I can tell you from personal experience (having bought it about a week ago) that it’s very versatile, really fun-and a little goes a long way. For the sounds most of us would really use, you probably want to dial in just a bit of effect; but if you want to do something wild, it’s entirely capable. And yeah, -2 is basically too low to be audible.
Bought this pedal for £199 based on your review. Great pedal, you can get some real wacky sounds from it. Holding down the fuzz button let's you set the fuzz level as the blue light flashes. Pressing it again accepts that setting. Turning all the octaves down and its actually a very usable fuzz pedal. Especially on mono mode.
I think Josh is more than a pedal builder and a company owner. He's a fan of this companies, their circuitry technology and innovation. So if you're thinking why he's showing other companies product on his pedal channel, you need to look carefully those pedal collections at the back to see what he believes in :). Great stuff thank you man

"That's like 200% octave." That's equivalent to 2 and a half cups of coffee. I am a fan of the Blue Box so this is pretty cool. Also was going to pull the trigger on a Sugar Drive once, but went with a different overdrive pedal instead.
If you don't mind me asking what drive did you get ? I got a Sugar Drive for a build I did cuz I already did one with a Tumnus >Tube Screamer ,so for that build I did the Sugar> Keeley mini Red Dirt .It worked out just fine .Sounds Amazing .
@@STRATMAN1969 I wanted something with "transparent" overdrive, and the Walrus Ages kept coming up. The Dry signal blend on that was too cool for school, and it had five types of signal options, so I found one for $120 on Reverb and got it. Really like it. Not sure if it has that Klon sound anywhere, but it's a nice second OD pedal. I also have a Plumes, which I primarily use as a clean boost (mode 2 with the gain and tone about 10 o' clock. I had my eye on a Sugar Drive at a pawn shop on Reverb that was local pickup only and someone finally bought it before I could drive 2 hours there to pick it up.
@@jezmez68 I love my board that I put a Tumnus deluxe > a Plumes( mode 3 gain 11:00 tone 1:00 ) That's the build I tried something other than Klone >T.S. ,and got a Blues Driver .I put it before the Plumes ,and hated it so much I replaced it with the Tumnus ,cuz I love how well the original paired with a mini Tube Screamer on my living room mini board. What's funny is I'm building a Shoegaze ,Ambient board ,and I'm running that BD-2 after a Big Muff .It sounds amazing .
I've been wanting to update my Arion octave on my board to a Pog2, but can't quit swing the expense. The MXR looks like it may well fit the bill quite nicely.
I hope you bought this because it is WAY better than the POG. It sounds equal to if not better than the POG, plus it has about 700 additional features that make it a tremendous value.
Nick, coming from a bass player, your drumming is one of the highlights of the jams, so musical and tasteful……but Josh is right about that snare tone. Sorry, please don’t hate me. 😂Cheers!
I picked up the sugar drive at a guitar show for no other reason that I was on an OD collecting bender and I liked the name, and it was a good price. It’s by far one of my absolute favorites, a real hidden gem. When I shootout drives on a re-amp session it always wins.
The mod knob and price are really going to knock the micro pog off it's pedestal. I get a kick that they are sticking with the blue branding. The blue box was such a farty gated down octave. It did one thing very well but really didn't track that well.
I’ve got both sitting here in front of me, and this MXR kills the POG. It equals and then surpasses it. And that’s not even taking into account that you are also getting a fuzz and a Phase 90 (and an OC-2) - all for less money!!!

That vampire riff rock was so good it should be illegal. I need so much more of this
I've been wanting to update my Arion octave on my board to a Pog2, but can't quit swing the expense.
The MXR looks like it may well fit the bill quite nicely.
I hope you bought this because it is WAY better than the POG. It sounds equal to if not better than the POG, plus it has about 700 additional features that make it a tremendous value.
You do an Amazing Job of Selling Everybody Else's Pedals to the World. You are a True Treasure Josh. Thank You!!! Love your Jams!!!!
Awesome Jams today fellas!!! Great Pedal as well. BTW, does MXR make a Klon Clone?
Sugar Drive
@@donmako Is it a clone or a variant ? Josh seems very hung up on classifications lately i.e. see last episode ; )
Hey Josh, I love that Oscillation from the Carbon Copy. Really. 🤩Ask the guys in our band. Stay tuned.
Now I wanna hear it on bass.
Nick, coming from a bass player, your drumming is one of the highlights of the jams, so musical and tasteful……but Josh is right about that snare tone. Sorry, please don’t hate me. 😂Cheers!
I love Josh keeps calling jams with 0 key changes jazz😂
It’s modal jazz. Duh.
Pedal sounds great! Sugar Drive sounds great! Nicks snare sounds extra beefy and delicious! 10/10 episode
This is secretly a sugar drive episode.
I picked up the sugar drive at a guitar show for no other reason that I was on an OD collecting bender and I liked the name, and it was a good price. It’s by far one of my absolute favorites, a real hidden gem. When I shootout drives on a re-amp session it always wins.
Demo on bass? PLEASE!!!
the back to back SICK BURNS had me crying at the office. thank you. and shout out to Addison’s ‘stache.
Would have been great to hear it on bass
I don't know about you, but when I see a JHS Pedals video, I click thumbs up.
Guys, your songs were AMAZING today! So good!
Still think we need a series 3 octave pedal
I love the fact that during the first jam, my closed captions translated your lead line as "uh, uhm... my."
MXR make some damn cool pedals. I've got the script logo Phase 90 and the Carbon Copy on my board. Solid.
PS: The snare sounds SICK!
