Sandy was bad by me. But Ian really did intense damage.

Thank you for Two Guys that pulled up with their food truck to give away food who need it. I saw on another video where a guy pulled up with his grill on wheels to serve BBQ chicken to whoever needed it. He also took his boat with lots of gasoline and water over to Sanibel to be distributed to ever needs it. Everyone just pitching in with what they can give to help I'm sure means a lot to everyone. Thank you again to all those who are helping make a difference in people's lives and restoring.

I'm shocked just how mild it was in the North Tampa region. I was fully expecting major damage to my home at 6.6 feet above sea level, but it changed course and we were spared.
My heart goes out to those who weren't.

yeah I am in Pinellas park, I moved all valuables and photos into the washing machine, dishwasher, etc..... I unplugged everything and just got ready for the unknown and then it changed course. As relieved as I am that it changed course it doesn't take away the pain I feel feel everyone further south. We lost power around 4pm and started getting a bit windy with rain. Around 7pm is when things picked up and it got really creepy dark. I couldn't see inside my house from looking on the balcony inside. Listening to that wind howl in the dark was something unnerving. I've never experienced anything like that before. I moved to St pete in 2018 three weeks after Hurricane Michael. Very scary and I cannot imagine what it was like for those that stayed in Lee and Collier county.

@@ravenrpg3865 I've been in numerous hurricanes an know exactly what you are describing - some were downright scary and I completely believe you about your experience in Pinellas Park. We are in the same county so even short distances apart can experience it differently. We were on the edge of it. With me maybe 10 miles farther than you as the crow flies (guesstimate I didn't get the map out to measure). If we were just 30 miles closer I suspect it would be far worse.
Did your area lose any big limbs or trees? I don't think my neighborhood had any limbs or trees fall. Somebody found a few roof shingles on the road so we are all checking our roofs today. But no obvious damage anywhere in the neighborhood.

@@floridacoder where I live there was down trees or power lines but other areas of St Pete and Pinellas there where. Duke is pretty quick when it comes to restoring power.

I live on the Ohio River. We have experienced a few devastating floods. The difference in walking in to a place after a Midwest flood, there is no mistaking how high the water was, there would've been a silt line on the house and a few inches of mud on the floor. I remember shoveling for hours just to get a point to start cleaning.
I hope you all can get back to normal as soon as possible. God bless.

I don't think homes should be on the barrier islands unless they are fortresses. But everywhere in Florida is a "hurricane zone".
If I were building or rebuilding a home today in Florida I think metal roofs make sense. As does backfill to raise the elevation of the foundation in low-lying areas.
You will find homes that survived a direct hit by Ian, and anyone building anew should take notes about the structural aspects of those homes. Some lone survivors in Mexico Beach also.

Naples is beautiful my sister and her husband lives there. I lived there in 2005 when hurricane Wilma hit and it was a 3. It was to hit bullseye on Naples somehow it did hit the west side. We decided to go to south beach Miami on the east side. Never forget that day. It went straight across the everglades and hit Miami. Naples residents are pretty rich. Very expensive to live there. They come from the north and live at there beach house in the winter (temps around 80 low humidity and gorgeous blue skies). These home owners leave when summer starts to hit and go to there residential home in the north. Extremely hot with tropical humidity and rain in the summer. Like they said these boats are yachts. Sure they have full coverage. My brother n law is a contractor and sister a interior designer in Naples. They got spared. They will be busy with these homes. Alot of these people that live there (surrounding area about 8 people to a house) do not have this luxury. They are there to work and make money for their family so they can come to US. So sad

He causes war, famine and disease! He raises up kings and removes kings! So, if people think this is bad. Just wait when He returns from the clouds of Heaven with power and great glory to bring judgement to those who are cold and lukewarm! And I tell you the truth, their are man people in the last days who are cold and lukewarm. These people have no fear of the LORD. And they will soon get the penalty that they deserve!

Terrible. Unfortunately that's the price we pay to live down there. Hurricane damage is really man made. Take the good with the bad.

Good for the economy? Building supplies are up as much as 500% when you can even get them. The supply chain is broken. Plus layoffs are starting already across the country. The banking system is in crisis and due to totally meltdown at any minute. The stock market is crashing and they are predicting a food shortage this winter. Outside of that, it's all good news. I think it will be A LOT tougher of a rebuild than he thinks it will be. I truly feel for them. They are about to go through THE toughest time of their lives. They will find out their fight has yet to even begin as they try to rebuild. It will be FAR more than just the typical financial aspect to consider.

The new generation is pathetic at best when it comes to news. "Biblical Proportions!" I can't with this generation and those that cater to them.
