Let’s not forget the association between the phrase ‘roaring 20’s’ and what is happening in Brendon’s life. Roaring 20’s refers to the period of time in the 1920’s when it was much like a party era. People were free to do what they wanted. The war was over and people felt the ability to live, both men and women. Okay, I am no history teacher, but the film Midnight in Paris best explains where i am coming from.
This links very much with Brendon’s life. Having just finished his very successful Death of a Bachelor tour, he was feeling like he was living in the roaring 20’s. I feel as though it has nothing to do with Brendon’s age, but rather a subtle association with living in such an era.
Anyway, that is just my interpretation of the lyrics. 😊
Roaring 20s is my favorite song! Thank you for this :)
I like this song bc it feels like a breath of fresh air from the more confident and ambitous lyrics he's been putting out lately. It's a great message to believe in yourself of course, but it's nice to see more vulnerability from him.
is it just me or does Roaring 20s sort of have that fast tango vibe?
It gives me those dramatic dance/sing your heart out vibes
it gives me bollywood song kinda vibe
I just realized he did so much when he was in his 20’s!
When he was turning 21 he dropped “pretty.odd.”
And then” Vices & Virtuse
Of course “ kinky boots “
Then had to weird too live, too rare to die!
Then finally at then of his very 20’s
Death of a bachelor!
WOW
Vices and Virtues*
I believe we ALL want a roaring 20s music video complete with flappers, bootleg, and Al Capone
I am extremely thankful for this channel
And btw it would be great if you could explain fire flies from gorillaz because i have no idea what the lyrics could mean lol
yee is løve yesss pleaseeeee! For ecample feeling good inc. makes no sense to me. But you could explane Clint Eastwood too!
So many gorillaz songs to explain
Clint Eastwood is about staying safe online.
Nik Rich sunshine? In _my_ bag? It's more likely than you think
4:20? about a weed inspired album? woww lol
I feel like when he said “And I’m sipping bourbon, the future’s uncertain” it was kind of like a reference to when he was too busy drinking his beer to realize he’d won an award at one of the awards shows.
This was the best song on the album along with king of the clouds
Roaring 20s is my fav song .
I love your explanations! This is in my top three favorite songs from PFTW! Can you do a video on one of the drunks, it's my favorite and I feel like it has a lot to say.
Honestly this was my favorite song on the album!
Roaring 20s is my favorite song on Pray for the Wicked!
Ironically enough I listened to Roaring 20's right before I watched this.
I knew there was a reason I love that song so much!
Favorite one so far
This is really great! Thank you so much! I'm from Russia and even though I'm a fluent English speaker it's sometimes hard to catch subtle references, especially in Brendon's lyrics :)
Brb watching all the videos on P!ATD
Hey, I really liked this vid! For your next lyric interpretation, could you maybe do “Disenchanted” by My Chemical Romance? It’s a really deep song with good lyrics in my opinion. 😁
easy peasy pumpkin peasy He has explained it before
I'm sorry I missed the notification, I was taking a nap🤷♀️
was the length of this video a tribute to brendon lmao
3:28 I thought about the beginning of the Emperors New Clothes Music Video
i'm just so thankful for this channel THANK U
I must say that I love that this channel exists, and I'm very glad to find it. I know you're called the POP song professor, but are you willing to explore other genres? I'm personally mainly a metal head and rock and roll fan, but I have a love for bands like Panic! (which is what brought me here), but I feel like there are SO many songs that you can dive deep into with metal and Rock and I'd love to here your thoughts. Either way I really appreciate your videos
You said it was one of the drunks that was the deepest when you explained the whole album but whatever
Rattata_Is_Underrated 2003 deepest and vulnerable are two different meanings
The overpass and One of the drunks are my fav
I honestly thought it was about the year 1920’s but this makes it soooo much easier to understand
I would be interested in Africa by Toto explained. With Wheezer releasing a cover recently and the popularity, maybe we could look at the odd lyrics.
Came late cuz someone was live, my apologies 😫 also I agree on this one 👏🏻💕 but I still think DOAB as an album was better whoops
Cosmic Royale totally agree. Pray for the wicked was kind of a let down for me :/
Awesome vid!
I really enjoy your videos :) This is one of my favorite songs from the new album!
I've been wondering, have you ever listened to Regina Spektor? And would you care to explain her song "Genius Next Door"? I understand most of her music but the exact meaning of that song has always eluded me...
Yes! Gorrilaz! There's so much material there!
(clicking on this video) *YES. YES. explain to me roll me like a blunt cuz I wanna go home.*

my favorite song from the album
I just got an advert on this video for Pray for the wicked 😂
can you pleeeaase do one of the drunks or old fashioned 💛
Please do The Overpass. I feel like the upbeatness is hiding something darker but I want to understand it.
WE'RE HERE
YAY I love your channel
I do like how you explained a song and give your opinion...
So I was thinking that would be nice if you critique Leroy Sanchez’s songs
Please do “Hey, Look Ma, I Made It” and please touch on the lyric about people wanting to steal his trophy’s and talk about the things that went down with Shane Valdez❤️
"Pray for the wicked is a really cool sounding album" Times have changed...
Yaas one of my favorite songs ever by Patd
Ahh... Thank you for this. ❤️
Broadway is black like a sinkhole
Everyone raced to the suburbs
And I'm on the rooftop with curious strangers
This is the oddest of summers
Maybe I'll medicate, maybe inebriate
Strange situations, I get anxious
Maybe I'll smile a bit, maybe the opposite
But pray that they don't call me thankless
My tell-tale heart's a hammer in my chest
Cut me a silk-tied tourniquet
This is my roaring, roaring 20's
I don't even know me
Roll me like a blunt, 'cause I wanna go home
Roll me like a blunt, 'cause I wanna go home
My roaring, roaring 20s
I don't even know me
Roll me like a blunt, 'cause I wanna go home
Roll me like a blunt, 'cause I want, I wanna go home
Oscars and Emmy's and Grammy's
Everyone here is a trophy
And I'm sipping bourbon
The future's uncertain
The past on the pavement below me
Maybe I'll elevate, maybe I'm second rate
So unaware of my status
Maybe I'm overjoyed, maybe I'm paranoid
Designer me up in straight jackets
My tell-tale heart's a hammer in my chest
Cut me a silk-tied tourniquet
This is my roaring, roaring 20's
I don't even know me
Roll me like a blunt, 'cause I wanna go home
Roll me like a blunt, 'cause I wanna go home
My roaring, roaring 20s
I don't even know me
Roll me like a blunt, 'cause I wanna go home
Roll me like a blunt, 'cause I want, I wanna go home
Hallucinations only mean that your brain is on fire
If it's Lord of the Flies in my mind tonight
I don't know if I will survive
Lighters up if you're feelin' me
Fade to black if you're not mine
'Cause I just need a sign, or a signal inside
This is my roaring, roaring 20s
I don't even know me
Roll me a blunt 'cause I wanna go home
Roll me a, roll me a blunt
This is my roaring, roaring 20s
I don't even know me
Roll me like a blunt 'cause I wanna go home
Roll me like a blunt 'cause I want, I wanna go home
I wanna go home
this song sounds more like a veteran from the world war one and the 1920s not about his life
Fuckin love this song
I stan this song
I really don’t like that “roll me like a blunt” line. It kinda hurts the song for me, but I like pretty much everything else the song has to offer. It sticks out kinda like “are you smelling that shit” in FOB’s “Stay Frosty, Royal Milk Tea”. I do like SFRMT more however.
Arcane Senzen right! Like he could have said something that would have been deep, not something weird like that
Arcane Senzen well Brendon loves smoking weed and he probably did so when feeling doen or when he needed a "pick-me-up" so in a song like this that line makes perfect sense.
Agreed. Didn't fit the tone of the song at all and made it feel like a parody of itself. There's a certain type of song where this type of line works, and Roaring 20s isn't it
And the song is amazing!!
This one is my favorite
This song makes me worried for my 20s (6 month countdown, my dudes)
hey man congrats on your 20s ✨🥀
You HAVE to do an explanation on the new wallows song!
