A bearing failure after 70 km? That is absolutely unacceptable. This wheel costs $4000 (sic!). I realize that the EUC market is fairly new, but we cannot allow manufacturers to make such oversights. If they can't afford proper quality control, then they shouldn't release the product at all!

    • @maciejburchardt7927
      @maciejburchardt7927 2 роки тому +5

I would not go that fare by calling them a manufacturer. The way it looks is nothing more like a garage student project.
      4K for this mess ?
      What a joke.

    Hi Adam,
The first 40km i rode the bearing was allready grinding but i did this offroad and glad to see it was not because of that but because the bearings had rust in it brand new out of the box...
Not to mention the design of the batterypacks and cage of the wheel... It will swope all the dirt to the center of the wheels axle/bearing! Also hard to clean!
The tire had the "blue fish" in it and deformed the walls of the tire because i rode it like that the first km's...
When i disconect the wheel from motherboard/batterypacks my ODO or Total milage gets reset!
I had the wheel disassamble for 3 times to fix all this...
I got the wheel from ... at ..... with good service and that is a nice person that helped me to the extend that he could.
He even tested my wheel for the cutout isseus before sending it to me...
Problem is that Leaperkim did not do anything to solve my problem! I did all the labor myself and payed top dollars for this wheel.
It was actualy the first new wheel that i got and sold the veteran Sherman for this! I had the luxury of trouble free riding and was hoping from L..p.rk.m the same build quality but now i'm stuck with the Abrams!
They advertise the wheel on many sites telling it is the offroad king or that it has IPS 65 rating and sealed bearings!
I got new bearings from a good (Japanese) brand and extra seals (German) brand on top of that with Grease inside of it... To keep all water out and dirt!
The tire i replaced with the tubeless Mitas B7 White wall :)
The whole batterypacks/cage and Motherboard with headlight/taillight is only holding its total weight by the 3 screws on the pedalhanger with the flat bar that swipes all dirt to the center of the wheel.
When u gently drop the wheel a few times in the dirt it will deform the cage and when u try to dissamble/reassemble the wheel after that it's gonna be much harder to line up all the screws of the batterypacks!
When i open the motor i saw moisture inside and the motorcable/axle design is bigger and strong but not properly sealed! I fixed it afterwards!
Dont get me wrong i still love the wheel by the way it rides for me because i'm a tall guy and love big wheels but not for this money and all the trouble i had to endure!
If i could get a monster pro to replace it i would do it instanly with a batch 2 :)
Adam i hope the community will get informed by u and spread the word about the problems and maby we hear a solution of the company's!
    We are not test dummies...
If u need more info about the fix of the bearings with extra photo's and video's i'm glad to help u out.
    Greets Robin from EUC Limburg

Sad to hear this report. It is such an expensive piece of gear. The least I'd expect is a decent customer service and not being shrugged of doing all the labor yourself.

Try using a soldering iron to heat up the screws secured with loctite. You don't need much and it saves you from torqueing the screw heads off.
I would like to see if that mother board compartment has water ingress after a hard ride in rain. As that compartment heats up the expanding air wants to go somewhere and it will find the weakest point around that gasket to escape. Then, once the MOBO cools off that air wants to get back in and can bring with it water. If they raised the inner casting to create a physical dam in addition to the use of gaskets it would be much better. For things to be effectively water proofed you want several methods of prevention.

Yess This wheel belonges to Robin
We drove together the second ride (from this wheel 40-75km) and it was chirping like a young bird!!
I would never buy it after I seen the Rusty bearings and the crazy crazy minimal distance between motor and the mount for the battery-packs
It just pick-up mud and leaves like a bulldozer!!

Much better connector choice on the headlight/taillight this time. It won't short the outputs from the motherboard if it gets disconnected while the wheel is powered on like can happen on the Sherman, not to mention it has better retention capability. Also glad to see them using Loctite on all the machine screws.

That box that holds the motor disconnects- if ANY water got in there you're screwed and with no inner shell I can see the Abrams having tons of water issues. And the bearings are shot in less than 100kms, that's ridiculous.

The water ingress engineering looks reasonable for the most part. It is sometimes hard for the end user to know which parts are ok to get wet and which parts are not but it looks like the important parts are well sealed.

I think the difference in the pedal "rod" (i call them axles?) is because the abrams "rod" was covered in salt. They use a good amount of salt here in Warsaw.

It seems to me that all these new wheels are being rushed to market with quality issues or shall we call them design flaws without proper testing and shake downs before being released to the customer and when you're relying on a single wheel safety is paramount.

Blue loctite is made to be heated to release. Room temperature blue loctite can damage aluminium threads when loosening. However, blue is stronger than red.
Bicycle and motorcycle (and car for that matter) manufactures have long ago figured out all weather wheel bearings that last for thousands of miles. This is not new engineering, just being cheap. (maybe read cheating the customer) Of course the manufacture will probably say "not intended to be used in the rain or snow" but as soon as they put the words "off road", the customer has a right to complain, despite the fine print.... that is the fine print does not overturn the big print.

The bearings are supposed to be sealed 🤨! The slim bar at the bottom picking up leaves and dirt, that i didn't saw coming. BTW, the controller housing IS the heat sink. eeVee's did a steep hill AND a pendulum test and the Abrams ran the cooler. Check it out : ua-cam.com/video/Iv1Or0Nd0zE/v-deo.html

1, This modular design is big mystery and only time tell if be enouch strong for clasic crashes or something bend inside becasue structural power is weakened by modularity on abrams compare to "clasic" sherman.
    2. Cage is joke here compared to sherman
3.And every side edge hit be directly into baery holding cover one piece 🤦🏻‍♀️.
    4. I know batery is in separate box but still conected to side panel just imagine this abrams spining/rotating off incline/hill how many direct damage bateary take.
    5. i can recomended to isolate this cables using liquid plastic/tape isolant by using brush what is used on boats to isolate electric systems agains salt water and chemical contamination my MSP HT is fully sealed too.
    6. this tire size naturaly absorb some low end torque im hungry to see more content about abrams.
7.frontlight real word show but i think sheman still king with custom position angle posibilities.
    8. I was sceptical about sherman too after they release V2(biger rim ,higher pedals ,waterprofed panel, extra fuse on baterys) shermyboi i instabuy and not regret.
    9. I want just sherman max or HT version and they make ABRAMS 🥶❓.
    10. Is great you have comander to compare abrams and sherman im muscle memory.
    11. hardest question is if have sherman is worth buy comander or abrams or keep sherman and why or wait to EX2 new inmotion or kingsong?.
    12. Anyway im happy there is new models on market but for me just make new revisions existing EUC is fine every season improve to more quality weatherproofing and firmware instead make new models ,
13.snow and salt european mix is like cryptonite to superman for EUC buy some quality bearings becasue abrams by modular desing is weak in bearing protection dirt can go direct to bearings no cover.
