Steam Incorporated's 50th Anniversary - 2x Double Headers!

Paekakariki, Wellington based Steam Incorporated are celebrating 50 years of operation this year, and to celebrate, they are hauling a series of excursions throughout the year - with this being the main event.
Two trains were on offer to pundits on Sunday 12 June 2022, both of these departing from Wellington and heading to Woodville.
Ja1271 & Ab 608 (in light steam for the most part) hauled the steam train that went via the Kapiti Coast & Manawatu Gorge, while Da's 1431 & 1410 travelled up the rarely-used Wairarapa line. The Two trains met in Woodville where passengers had the option of exchanging trains to complete a 'Round the Block' trip.
The event was in the middle of a storm that set itself across New Zealand, but this stayed away for most of the day, until the evening where severe thunderstorms lit the sky up, as seen towards the end of this film.
Steam Inc have a number of trips coming up to celebrate their 50th, including ones in conjunction with the Glenbrook Vintage Railway. A busy year ahead!

Great Video TNZ, JA 1271 has got to be one of the most amazing loco's in NZ history, written off after an accident shortly after being commissioned, she is now the best example of kiwi steam, thanks for sharing

Well that is outstanding film and production work. Also outstanding is the fireman's work to have the safety valves lift with the engine under full load across the bridge or either the rear engine is doing most of the work? Great action. TASMANIA NEEDS TO HAVE A GOOD HARD LOOK AT WHAT IS BEING ACHIEVED IN NZ...setting an example..again..congratulations.
