The story has just begun. I at first, I had a heavy feeling in my heart because I thought, automatically, that it would have a sad ending. The journal, as it is opening is beyond any words I have. I was mesmerized by the explanation of how the fabric was created. And then the beginning of the story about where the journal originated from completely drew me in. The artistry of your words, Jibid, and the journal itself in all it's glory is a work of art that takes us on a journey through the ages. I've never seen anything like it outside museums. It's priceless. I wish that I could sit down with you, listening to the birds sing, and hear the rest of the story and all the other stories you have written. You are a gifted craftswoman and storyteller. In my culture, that is how our history was passed on. So I have a very high regard for people who have the gift of the spoken and written word, as well as artists and craftspeople. They are the keepers of history. Thank you for sharing your gifts with us Jibid.
Kateri Cochran oh my goodness, kateri thankyou darling for taking the time to be so gracious and kind, this means a lot to me. I am so glad you enjoyed this video, thankyou for your kindness xx
Just so amazingly beautiful. Love all the fabric & color combinations. What I have seen so far is simply gorgeous. You did a wonderful job on this JJ. Thx for sharing.
Every single thing you show moves me so deeply. It is akin to my early childhood sitting on the porch of my great grandmother in the evening with the heady fragrance of her lovely flowers, listening to stories of her childhood. Her life seemed so magical and mine so dull. Now I am a grandmother and as my grandchildren grow my life seems so magical. Maybe magic is perspective. How I love your stories and your art.
I am so in awe of your talents and am so glad you share them with us! I watch your work and am in love with it all. I love the story of The Silk Road. You are truly a romantic at heart and that you put it down in these beautiful journals is a gift you share with us all.
The background music of the birds is a perfect accomplishment to your stories and the beauty of your art. I remember my mother telling me stories, they were magical for me and she changed them as she wanted...it is a lovely memory as I am getting older. We settled back into our memories as the world we live in becomes smaller, quieter.
Jibid...your work always causes me to pause in the middle of your YT videos just to gush my admiration! Amazing work, as always...your creativity has no limits, and I cannot wait to see more of what you bring out of your brilliant mind and onto paper, ink, and textiles!
Thanks for the lovely storytelling, it was so enjoyable. Your journal is a masterpiece, a treasure to have & hold. Beautiful beyond words, I'm lost to find the right word to describe this one! MAGIC....enchantment.....ethereal...... I feel as if I've just traveled across the world!
I saw this pop up this morning and Jibid...JIBID!!! this is incredible my dear friend, Im blown away...it makes my heart sick for places unknown. Very well done! xXx -nik
Having eaten his last ancient KitKat only moments before, he simply observed the cricket ... STUNNING! Your art continues to astound, and as always you make me chuckle.
Wow! So you also draw beautifully! Such a talent! The fabrics are stunning! The whole journal is stunning! I have no words to describe how gorgeous it is! You are the best journal artist I know!
OMG OMG!!! I am currently at the dangle (in the video I mean) and already I'm totally blown away by your imagination and creativity! Jibid you are definitely a wizard! I will have to watch more and write more, but this journal is just FABULOUS!!!
Love the bright colours and can only imagine the smells of those spices!! Wow so so talented ❤❤❤ love the little birds in the background so peaceful xx
I have been seeing more artists telling a story behind their journals and I love that idea. Your story has made this journal come alive, mean more than just coffee dyed paper, bits & pieces and fabrics. The journal is stunning, Jibid, but having a tale behind it takes it to the next level. Off to see part 2! Debbie :)
Jibid! What an incredible work of art! This is something that belongs in a museum I am blown away! I absolutely loved the textiles you used and the details of the calligraphy is AMAZING! I am so heartbroken I was not able to purchase this creation from you as it is the style that I love , truly the most beautiful journal I have seen!
I have to go off to work but I saw a bit of part two. Can't wait to savior your full creation. I'll make sure to watch on a bigger screen too to enjoy all of your amazing fine art. Love your comment about getting around copyright by using your own work :) Simply amazing as always!
Hearing the story is lovely too. Maybe with all of the collected images, you can make a journal out of the book you wrote Jibid. You have so many amazing skills! This journal is incredible!
Hi Jbid. :) This journal is very beautiful. I love the color infused onto the paper... The fabrics... The beads and charms dangling from the edges of the papers... (I have to tell you as you were going through the pages and came to the little bells dangling off the page I couldn't help think of my mom... She went to heaven a little over a year ago and one of her treasures left behind was a necklace made of tiny little bells... I have never seen bells made like this... So pretty and dainty. She purchased it through some sort of missions craft company which helps underdeveloped countries create and sell things they make... She would wear this necklace during the Christmas holidays... It's not quite my style... I'm kind of a minimalist when it comes to jewelry lol... But when I saw the little bell dangling off the page I thought of her... Thank you for triggering a lovely memory for me) ...The calligraphy added here and there... The sketches.... Oh my goodness..... I am drooling as inspiration is flowing through my veins. I know we probably live a million miles away but... Can I come over and play lol??? Hugs sweet girl, Michelefrapjunky
What an incredible journal! I took the time to look up the etsy shop for that delicious silk and was delighted to find she also has some kits with fun “extras”. Thank you for the journal inspiration! I loved the Dyer’s Daughter and can’t wait to see what you’re up to next!
Thank you again for mentioning where the silk for the cover came from! I ordered a couple of pieces and was delighted when they arrived. I also got one of the bits and pieces packs. I have a bit of “ruling class” India (prior to the British India Society) in my family tree so I really enjoyed hearing you talk about this journal. If you’re still checking comments from past journals...I would love to hear more about the scenting process of the journal cover.
Jibid, this is magical! I love your story, I love the sound of your voice telling the story - and your journal is gorgeous! Your papers are absolutely stunning and it all matches your story perfectly!!
Jib, I love everything about this journal. Your art work is beautiful and I love the story. It's such a treat to to watch your videos and you are always so inspiring. Thank you so much for sharing your lovely work. ✨💞✨💫
Your videos are so interesting, and of course your books are amazing. I haven't even made a journal yet but hope to. This journal has sparked an idea for me and a way to use my "magpie" hoard of sparkly things, old buttons, beads etc which I look at now and again. Thought it would be lovely to make a shiny, vintage only bling journal, using as much of my old treasures in it as possible. Now I have a vison 😁 Thank you.
Ooooh! An audio of your written book with a handmade version with your images with a book flip through. That would be so enjoyable! I feel spoiled that we have access to your voice and work from afar.
Absolutely amazing! I think the choices you have made in the creation of this book are top notch! And ps - I love the smell of coffee paper! 😊😊 Off to watch part two!
I'm absolutely speechless. You have a beautiful mind and spirit, evident in all your work. This is over the top gorgeous. It's amazing how the end result exceeds the sum of its parts. I love Indian fabrics and textures, and the little pieces you have used do not overwhelm, but leave a viewer longing for more. Shine on, Jibid!!!
Oh Jibid! Have you read my mind..... if you could know the saris etc i have looked at for making what is in my head .....some jewel-toned sari silk arrived on my doormat today!...purple has bn my favourite for nearly 30 years, closely followed by turqoise/teal tones, as was my mum's favourite. They always go so well together. Then metallics top them off. You should think about publishing your book again, maybe it's your time now. Your vision and its execution are exquisite as always. Absolutely beautiful. Love the spicy charms too. I have Sri-Lankan in my family. My two great Aunts survived a Japenese war camp, and they gave me some real parachute silk from WW2. I need to do something with that. It's so delicate and light. Take care xx
Purple Pixie hey PP :) wow that's amazing! You must show me what you come up with, there are so many sumptuous fabrics of this style, as you said, I'm sure it will be beautiful x
This is just a suggestion, if you wouldn't mind, but you might try boiling a couple cinnamon sticks with your coffee, it might make the smell more appealing. I think most of us have enough things to wash without having to wash paper. LOL :)
Omg! I did not think I'd come across another person that likes The Far Pavilions! Did you like Shadow of the Moon too? Kaye again. I have a thing for romances from the Raj... Quite the conflict because as a student of post colonial crirical theory I should kick the hangover....but I digress. New subbie in AWE of your work. xx Suchi
Scrappittarius thankyou so much suchi, and welcome to my channel! I havent read shadow of the moon (i ought to say 'yet') though the longer i am around, the longer my lists seem to get! Thankyou for you kind thoughts re my work, i hope you will continue to enjoy the videos x
Hi Jibid, I was wondering if you researched the translation of your calligraphy. I am trying to add some Japanese to a few pages but am scared of writing anything untoward. I have tried english-japanese dictionaries and the results vary a lot. Did you find a reliable translation source? Thanks xxx
