I just finished watching this. I'm around the same age as Soleil. This film was so nostalgic and profound. She did the right thing with creating this documentary. All the many years of filming, journaling, etc. were meant for this exact moment. I've been seeing it advertised as some "celebrities partying and doing drugs in the 90's." If that's your overall take on it, then you missed the entire point and profound message. And that's truly so sad.
@@pigwheel15 funny story but Peter (Pete) bici was my neighbor in (Queens) corona Ny. I use to see him when I was really young with a bunch of guys that use to skate in the area by flushing meadow park. This was in the early 90’s when I was still in elementary school. Years later I started realizing how his group of friends became such a huge part of the skate culture scene in NYC. So to see Harold and Pete cross paths with Soleil was extremely shocking but amazing because it showed how open she was to different people and cultures. She never judged or discriminated against anyone. She really loved and respected everyone. As for the Justin footage, literally the best part of all of this. Despite this being Hollywood’s teens of the 90’s, the skateboarders will appreciate this footage.
@@ulovetashi I grew up skateboarding in Michigan and KIDS is one of my favorite films. I saw it when I was probably 15. I wanted friends like that crew so bad. I had a couple of Harold Hunters boards and the ZOO YORK Mixtape skate video was one of my favorites.
I feel like we were the first gen to have friends of all sorts. Religion, color, coolness didn't matter as long as you were cool. The time spent just sitting around and laughing, the music, the crushes, the feeling of being grown (note, I said feeling😋), the fearlessness, the carelessness. It was such a vibe- a resurgence of 60's love. I remember wanting so bad to just sneak out and go to Woodstock. Y'all remember Lilith Fair, Anthony Keidis had long hair, Black Hole Sun was the craziest video ever next to Tool's Sober, MtV was it, pogs, One Saturday Morning, sleepovers, and just smiling from a place of innocence of what this world really was. 😢 I pray you all are well and thriving. May peace, love, and happiness be more than what we wrote everywhere but inside of each of you. Yo, somebody firing up a time machine would be the bomb diggity. Peace out!
I'm so happy for things like this seeing ima 90s kid born in 91 I wanted to know how these former child stars felt off camera or what made them feel the way they did during taping
I was young back then, and never thought about how they were going through the same things, but worse because Hollywood eats up teen actors and spits them out. What happens when you are not that young looking and can't go to regular parts as an adult?
I’m sooo tripping that when she moved to NYC, she makes friends with the skater kids. She only claims that they were just skater kids but they were the cast of a movie called KIDS (1995). Look it up. The one she liked was called Casper in the movie.
I have watched this documentary. Basically Its about a group of privilege rich White ex-teen stars of Beverly Hills reminisces about their peak popular stardom in early 90s. They drove nice cars, wore clean new clothes, they were hanging out outside while kids of their age were in school and their cliques were fellow good looking teen stars as well. Not many of us 90s kids had that privileges.. But its good to see the 90s environments in the show, Still the best era to live.
I was skeptical about this upon hearing about it. Frye was like many successful child actors whose talents did not transition, despite efforts, into a successful adult actress. Her lifestyle was very Bohemian and her funds modestly spent in how she and her single mother lived. Their house was full of people and lots of minors all being allowed to eat, drink, smoke and party in the pool. Her mother created an environment that was the backdrop for what Frye lived. Her video doc of her party years in LA and NYC and reunions with old boyfriends and friends were very intense. Her recognition of friends who committed suicide and or died was incredible. Her written musings in the 1990’s were very poignant. In short this was a great documentary that certainly made me cry and think of my old friends and what it was like growing up in the 1990’s. A very powerful piece from an actress I think many of us forgot about. Not anymore. Watch it.
I just finished it a few hours ago and I really loved it. I thought it captured the times and portrayed them perfectly especially for someone as myself that grew up in the 90s as a teenager that enduldged in the exact same activities as she did with all her friends that I grew up watching from the tv screen to the silver screen. I found myself choking back tears and fighting the same feelings of remembering friends come and gone sprinkled with moments of nostalgia remenicing all the times we shared. I also wanted to write a book about my life and make a movie about it so I admire her for carrying around a camera and sharing it with the whole world. It's exactly what I needed. Although I watched it with my girlfriend and she only being 4 years younger than me still in her thrities was very judgmental of it with very nasty things to say and really couldn't understand what it was like growing up then because she missed all of it. So I felt essentially attacked about my own life and what I did as a teenager. Made me feel really sad that I couldn't explain what it was like in a time that she missed that I loved so much and made me who I am today. It's really all about the choices we make in life and if we are paying attention and listening when those who we love are talking can we actually hear them.

As a fellow 93'er and def 2000s kid, I'm waiting for the documentaries and movies of our era. I started high school just as Facebook was kicking off. All the social media stuff that we didn't grow up with and then just sort of exploded when we became teenagers. I think ours was the first generation that came of age without proper national barriers. Social trends were globalized and we were trying to be like kids from everywhere around the world, not just the kids on TV. It was weird. Add that to the pressures of trying to live up to insane standards set by a lucky few kids living incredible lives. And also Harry Potter. 😂

Rip river Phoenix , Jonathan brandis. And corey haim made in the adulthood but got ripped of childhood , Chris pettiet, brad refro ,lee Thompson young
and others that are alive and are in battle with substance abuse
Read the long article in The Atlantic about what director Bryan Singer did to some of these kids. Yikes
Was having children on tv for child entertainment or adult entertainment? That’s the real question here. Hollywood is filled with Pedos & they have connections so I doubt their intentions are good.
Save the children!! 😭

You know, back in those days, kids didn't have phones or Internet: Real life was everything they had.
Yes.. We had home life, bus life, neighborhood life, church life, school life, job life...real life with out our parents all the time because they had their own life
Actually, by the mid to late 90s AOL was already a thing. It was only the early 90s kids that were cut off from the world. And long distance calling wasn't free back then, so I had to wait until 9 my time to call a friend 1,200 miles away cus it was free nights and weekends haha.
@@lolitabubbles26 or get a phone card

Actually we did.. internet was dam slow also we could easily rack up a 2 hour phonebill landline. We are known as the mtv gen.
To think she had all this amazing footage all this time.
This documentary has Bop, Tiger beat and Big Bopper written all over it. I had multiple posters of most of these boys, now men all over my walls as a kid! My favorite of all… Jonathan Brandis. This is going to be hard to watch 😢
I was also a poster platerer. My bedroom was covered even the ceiling.
I still have posters and pin-ups. At last count just over three thousand.
My obsession has grown into an unhealthy, and expensive disorder.
Lol My sister used to subscribed to Seventeen Magazine while I was subscribing to Electronic Gaming Monthly Magazines

This was a good documentary to watch, highly recommend, nostalgic overload.

Too nostalgic for me. I just turned 47, these are my contemporaries. I'll propose cry, remembering my teens, twenties in the good ole nineties.

Those must come back and will
I loved being a kid in the 90s but I couldn’t imagine what these celebrities had to put up with growing up in the public eye. I’m excited to see this documentary!
The first thing I have felt excited to watch in a very long time!!
I just watched it. I loved it. Great job Soleil. Don't feel bad about not "seeing" the pain in your friends. You were kids, it's just not something you were suppose to be aware of.
I miss the 80s and 90s.
My Favorite show ever
Wow Harold Hunter footage, I'm blown away. This is the dopest thing I've seen in a long time. The 80's and 90's kid appreciate this.
I was really surprised to see the worlds of Harold and Justin intersect with hers.
@@pigwheel15 that’s so Rad🤙🏾
😢
I pray you all are well and thriving. May peace, love, and happiness be more than what we wrote everywhere but inside of each of you.

I'm so happy for things like this seeing ima 90s kid born in 91 I wanted to know how these former child stars felt off camera or what made them feel the way they did during taping
Balthazar Getty still looks like Charlie Sheen even after all these years. I always thought he was Martin Sheen's love child.
Ugh I wish we could rewind back to the 90s
I was young back then, and never thought about how they were going through the same things, but worse because Hollywood eats up teen actors and spits them out. What happens when you are not that young looking and can't go to regular parts as an adult?
I’m sooo tripping that when she moved to NYC, she makes friends with the skater kids. She only claims that they were just skater kids but they were the cast of a movie called KIDS (1995). Look it up. The one she liked was called Casper in the movie.
Ah, life before social media 💛
I am beyond excited to see this!
Im here because of Jonathan Brandis.
@@bleeneo101 wow, I'm sorry you couldn't share it with someone you are close to. What is there to judge? I'm sorry I cNt imagine. I grew up in the 90s and I am 4 yrs younger than my bf. He tells me about his time being young. I can't imagine judging him. Hope things get better. ✌🏼❤

Wow. I'm only a 90s baby (born in 93) but this video makes me feel so nostalgic about a time period that I really didn't grow up in. The 2000s was more my generation. But I also feel so connected to the 90s because I have quite a bit of memories.
Same and I was born in 94
It was an awesome time, oh well now there's plenty videos, docs and series about the 90's. My brother was born in the 90's and it was not until watching Stranger Things he understood what the 80's was really about and why people always talk about it.
@@mjohnson1741 yeah. I grew up learning about 80s pop culture and politics because it's my parents generation. They were young adults in the 80s and experienced it all. I love 80s culture too and sometimes I wish I were an adult back then too.

They need their heyday back
Remember a time, when you would call a friend on the phone to hangout. If he/she wasn't home, then he/she wasn't home. And you had to do something else. Now you can reach them whenever.
That's probably the only part i like about technology in the late 90's and 2000's. "Staying connected more easily with Friends". The hate and bullying online however, WE ALL could do without.
the irony is...easier yet harder to reach them. People can ignore it as they feel.
If you knew where they worked, that was a possibility.
You would run into them somewhere along the day just accumulating friend.
😢
Watching the movie, it was funny how many messages she has that people left because she wasn't home. One person (I think Jonathan Brandis (even tells her on the message that she needs to get a beeper.
