the most horrific part of this story is the ending, where larry says he has has something else that keeps him up at night, along with thoughts about his dad coming into his bed, and that he learned to control his screams so his dad doesn't enjoy it so much. i feel horrible for this kid, even though he isn't real.
What happened to his dad? I don't remember it being said in the story.

I wasn't expecting such an incredible story from something called "the midnight game". I was expecting another cheesy ritual pasta, but the fact it actually was a "game" and not just a bunch of ghosts being spooky made it fantastic!

I love a scary story where the rat(s) is the good guy. First I have heard of. Rats are smart animals and never work in scaring me. I'm scared of bugs, not tiny mammals or birds.
I'm officially hooked. This is, BY FAR, the best narration I have ever heard. Idk how I've been under a rock this long, but I've got some catching up to do. Binge watching/listening now.
Also I’ll come back with some serious cheese and leave it for the rats during the day. You owe them your life. Show some appreciation. I’ll also see if I could adopt the leader rat.
This was truly amazing and a total adrenaline thrill ride of chills. It had a firm grip of my attension from begining to end. It does extremely well hiding the truth why this game doesn't terrorify the main character to the point of screaming like their friends. The final reveal of a sad and horrorible past that taught them not to scream in defiance of their tormenters.
It feels like the game was a trial to guide those that have severe trama that they have lasting fears, and they must learn to face them in order to move forward.

hey @Spiderkillers, Inc, great story. admire you so much for your creativity and willingness to write a story like that- simply amazing! i personally liked the age of the kids. the innocence among the other five (being twelve year olds) was what really separated Larry from them and made him the winner of the game. also really loved the rat motif throughout the story- curious: i feel as though the rats were partially a figurative addition to the story, maybe a moral like 'the things or the ones you expect the least from and are repulsed by, are often the ones to show true compassion and guidance'? i don't know, maybe i'm just over-analysing lol. really loved the story man and huge props to Billy (MCP) for the chilling narration!
Finally listened to this five months after you uploaded it... I've got to say, if it was narrated by anyone else, I probably would've fallen asleep. You're an excellent narrator. I'd also like to say, THIS is a story I'd like to see as a movie. ✌🏼😄

From the bottom of my heart, holy sh!t. Despite the author’s own gripes about the characters ages, I think it added to the horror personally, being that the characters are smaller and much more defenseless. This story had me in a CHOKEHOLD the entire time, I was at the edge of my seat! And while the author says they were fearful the child abuse may have seemed exploitative, I think it was built up well. Maaaaybe could’ve dialed it back alittle bit at the end, but I thought it was great either way. 10/10 I’m saving this to my favorite videos playlist

This story is actually good by the title I though that it would be bad but I was wrong. One complaint was as the og author said the characters were too young
I think the rule that he broke was the talking rule ? He spoke when they’re not meant to talk for the whole hour
he didn’t speak, this is all story, if you listen again it says “ i mumbled” meaning he mumbled out loud

I think many people mixed this up with the midnight MAN.
Two separate stories about very different demons.
Well the game about summoning the Midnight Man is often called the Midnight Game.
This one seems to be based on the Midnight Game from 2010 but with some elements of other popular ritual games/pastas involved.
- Holding hands and asking to play is an element of ‘The Apex’.
-Remaining quiet isn’t necessarily a requirement of these(that I know of) but just a way to avoid getting offed in any sort of supernatural hide and seek game.
-The Dead Poet’s game involves playing the game where death has occurred.
-The 2010 version involves having to prick your finger and place the blood onto a paper with your name.
-2010 Midnight game, anyone in the area is a player. Doesn’t matter if you didn’t come to play; if you’re there, you’re part of the game and you have to avoid getting caught.
I feel really close to Larry. I learned not to scream at an early age too. For the same reason.
