    First up.. Great video and a fine pistol. I have a TRP in standard government. Same finish and same grips. I absolutely love it. You nail it in comparison to any other bottom end 1911. It definitely is a thing of beauty. It's tight and solid. I didn't really care for the full length guide rod so I went GI with flat wire recoil spring bumped up a notch. Wilson Combat part's. 10-8 plug. Chews up any ammo I feed it.

    Great video. I’d like to pick one up someday. I recently picked up a Springfield Vickers Tactical Master Class and am absolutely blown away by the quality! The checkering pattern used on the front strap and mainspring housing is the most comfortable yet functional pattern I’ve ever felt on a 1911. The only thing I would change on it is to add a magwell. I’m going to order a one piece bulletproof mainspring/magwell from Wilson Combat soon. I don’t personally care for ambi safeties, so I’m happy the master class model only comes with a safety on the left side. It also came from the factory with some bulletproof parts from Wilson Combat, as well as a Vickers Tactical rear battle sight and a HD tritium front sight, which is my favorite sight configuration. Fantastic pistol, but is not cheap, at $1,495 msrp, if you can find one. I got lucky to find one in a local shop in Lake Havasu City, AZ. In my opinion, it’s absolutely worth every cent!

    I own a TRP and i Purchased it around the same time as you. I bought mine in January 2017 and the engraving on my slide and barrel is 25. Yours is 26. So we are likely gun brothers! As far as Press checking to see if you have chambered a round, I feel the same way you do. But my training in the military always included a press check, so I just do it, out of habit, immediately after chambering a round to ensure it went in there. I don't know why I was trained this way, I guess enough people screw it up to cause training to include this, but this is what I do.

    I was at my gun dealer this past weekend to complete background check on a few rifle purchase. I am also in the market for a 1911 45 acp pistol. first showed me a couple of Kimbers, too large of a handle grip, then a sig. Then she pulled this springfield 45 acp and she said the same thing as you mentioned in your video, as how "smooth" this handgun is compared to the other two with almost no recoil! she highly recommended it and it was the only one they had. Asking price $1,499. From research I have done it seems like a reasonable price. I have to go back in another week and half to pick up my rifles, and if it is still there I will go ahead and purchase it.

    I’ve now owned mine for about 4 years. (Full rail)
    Plenty of rounds thru and still yet to find any type of hang ups or anything. I’ve only added different grips (magpull all black slim grip w/ a nice WIDE low valley for thumb lay & mag relase accessibility) - as you see on the oem grips the valley for mag release is very small. Magpull will fit your full thumb in the valley.
    and a TLR-2.High Lumen -
    Weight of the light helps recoil even more ofc.
    I still need to get the Dawson guide rod.. making a tool out of a paper clip for breaking the gun down is a little annoying.
    Been on the fence for a while of wanting to send it out and go full send… but as I’ve found, I bought a really good first pistol😅 and there hasn’t been many if hardly any that had any type of work done and put on UA-cam for us others to see so .

    I bought mine in 2015. It still sits in its case. I have never fired it or removed it or any of its accessories from the case. I bought the Dawson Precision Tool-Less Guide Rod. But I have not installed it. I even bought a couple of idiot scratch protectors. I will probably never fire it. It looks so nice in its case. I have plenty of other firearms to shoot. So it’s life will be as a safe queen.

      @@GSquaredTactical Taking it apart and dealing with the guide rod was the first initial motivating factor for not shooting it. Which is why I bought the Dawson tool. But since I have not installed it, the firearm sits.
      I never intended it to be a carry gun. I was only going to use it for recreational range time. I have plenty of other firearms to shoot that are less cumbersome to clean, and I enjoy shorting. Mostly 9mm. I will grab my Colt MK IV Series 70 or my Glock 30S if I want to plink .45. But it is rare I do that. So there it sits part of a firearms collection.
      I am waiting the return of my CZ P01 from Cajun Gun Works. This is my current carry gun. So my immediate future time will be spent operating that firearm to get proficient with its new features. Otherwise, I am happy to own the TRP, if only because it is a great firearm.

    The Professional is way more tightly fit and I’m almost positive it has a different finish on it than the TRP, so I can’t agree that the TRP is practically the same, but i do agree that it is a tremendous pistol, and it’s a pretty solid stand in for someone who doesn’t want to spend $3k on a Pro. I think you are correct in saying that the TRP could be the finest production pistol you can get, although Dan Wesson is a pretty solid contender to stake that claim as well.
    I also completely agree with you about the silliness of the press check. You should know the condition of your firearms. The only scenario I could see where press checks would be useful would be if you were in a gun fight and picked up someone else’s gun and needed to verify whether or not it was loaded. And since 99.99% of us are not John Wick and are incredibly unlikely to ever be in that scenario, I don’t see it as something I’ll ever need.
    I enjoyed your presentation. You are well-spoken and you seemed confident in the subject matter. Nicely done!

      First off you need to understand why. Press checking is common training these days because everyone who CC SHOULD have one in the chamber. It’s the BEST habit to always check your firearm before holstering to get into the habit of making sure it’s loaded. I get if you’re a civilian and are just fudding around at the range you won’t care about press checks. But for duty use, every morning before you go out you press check that fire arm like clockwork making sure you have one in the chamber and ready to go when needed.

    • @TheLegoJoker
      @TheLegoJoker 2 роки тому +2

      @@ScarletGuts I understand why people press check, but I stand by what I said. Any of MY guns that are sitting in my safe are loaded and ready to go. I always know the condition of MY guns, therefore a press check is not necessary. If I pick up someone else’s gun, then I see why it would be a good idea since you don’t know the condition of someone else’s gun. If press checking makes you feel more confident in your gun then press check away. I have yet to have one of my guns unload itself so I will choose not to.

    • @GSquaredTactical
      @GSquaredTactical  2 роки тому +3

      The thing is this isn’t something people have always done and if they did they done it from the rear. I don’t remember if it was Colin Noir or someone else, but some famous person started doing that maybe it was on a movie and the next thing you know everyone is doing it. I literally see people at the range who look as though they’ve never handled a firearm in their life doing it. You can just tell they are doing it for attention or to give the image they know what’s up!! Most of them end up putting there fingers over the barrel or really close when doing it. It’s simple people have always “checked” their chamber but the doing it at the front of the barrel is a new age thing and people just think they are cute. Glock extractor Protrudes off the slide when one is in the chamber and very easy to pick up on that with training to run your finger down the slide to feel it. H&K has an extractor with very visible red when there’s one in the chamber. Canik and some other manufacturers literally have a loaded chamber indicator at rear of chamber atop the slide and S&W, Taurus and a few others have a peep hole at the back of the chamber atop the slide to see if the chamber is loaded. Also IMO when you press check like that you run the risk of the gun not going fully back into battery. Heck I saw a commercial advertising a laser round dry firing system with a phone app shooting without ammo and I bet 10 times in the commercial some dude “press checks.” I guess he’s checking for a round in the chamber. Oh wait yeah it’s a laser. I’m telling you it’s just something people do trying to be cute and I’ve even saw people try to do it with no serrations at front of barrel all of which tells me they are trying to be cute. I’m waiting for one of them to blow their fingers off.

      Just to be certain I looked it up on Springfields website to answer what I already knew and it simply, clearly and literally says on Springfields website that the Springfield 1911 TRP 45 is discontinued. I can’t argue with the one who makes it

      @@GSquaredTactical If you press check with your left hand over the top with the rear serrations, the chamber is not visible. Front serrations are really convenient for some of us. If they are not for you that's fine. But consider how others wish to operate their firearm.
      And yes, after racking the slide, or not, hours or days earlier, some of us do not want to trust our memory about a round being chambered.
      It would be quite careless to trust your memory about something that important.
      And after you rack the slide, are you 100% sure that a round has been chambered? If the mag is not seated, as an example, you may not.

      I mostly was taking about all the people I see at the range doing this mostly young people. Obviously they just slapped a mag in a sent the side home so it’s loaded but they will still “press check” it. In a lot of cases it’s people you can tell aren’t gun guys nor know much about guns. They do it so much you can tell it’s more trying to be cute and follow a trend than anything else. I’m curious, if one buys a gun without front slide serrations thus not able to “press check” do they walk around with a gun not knowing if one is in the pipe? Where people blowing there faces off before front serrations was a thing because they weren’t able to “press check?” Also, I don’t put my hand over the side to check if there’s one in the pipe if someone hands me a gun. I use my left thumb and index finger and pull back slightly. Also, I done that at the range one time and it didn’t fully go back into battery and it was embarrassing and could have caused an accident with someone with less experience than I. I’m just not a fan of it and I’m sure it’s my age. It’s ok though to have a different opinion. I’m not trying to change your mind
