not2fast4u2c - its not really that difficult actually, i used to take totally stock mowers ( minus deck) in the swamp behind my house years ago, really didnt get stuck all that much either. for a starter id say either a murray or older craftsman, do a slight pulley change( bigger on front, smaller on rear) , get a set of aggressive tires and youre ready to roll. i have plans for my 90s gt murray ( has the hood that opens like a car) - it has stock 1" front spindles, 1" rear axles, i got a winch, air compressor, and atv tires.
Money is tight for me ..But...I'm sure if I built one I could always sell it

Im trying to decide if i should use chains on my off road lawn mower with 23in turf savers or buy 25 vampires what do you think @FearlessFront? Btw its a 96 Murrary ultra garden tractor.

Mr Troollz it's up in to you, I don't like using chains at high speed, so I would go with the tires. it cost a lot more though
Yea it's like 220$ for the vampires and new front tire's. Should i get new front tires or leave the stock 16 in tires? And also do you still have the craftsman crawler and the lifted mudding mower?
copy the design of tire chains but use some fat braided nylon rope... it does work the key is making them too small and inflating the tire inside... the last set I made lasted 3 winters but I have to make a new set this year for my offroader I'm building... I'll make a video of them when I get around to it..
FearlessFront (Todd Christopher) i have a kubota 3200 2 cylinder diesel that is fairly high already but i can walk faster than it, would it be a good mudding mower?
Mr Troollz if you are locked then you will probably want the grip on the front end for turning. and no, I got rid of the lifted and the Craftsman a while ago

I don't think my CASE would make that lol since for one its not a posi rear end and its hydraulic drive so it doesn't have the wheel speed....hey Todd do u think u could lock the rear end of my two CASES
your tractor build is so damn sick bro. I still don't understand how you get the engine to rev so smooth and shift so smooth like you're driving a car. kudos

Mill Hill Mud Mowers mst205 on todds but same thing. I run a 206, honestly 5-6 are so close it doesn't really matter which one your in anyways.
Have you tried Armor-all on the GoPro case?
Yeah those Craftsman axles suck. Need to get one from a GT6k.

I think that the Murray does better in watery mud and the sears does better in thick mud

Love watching romp footage, no such thing as too much! Hey Todd, have you considered putting Vampire tires on the Murray? Perhaps go an inch or 2 larger? I'd think the Murray would make short work of most of those mud holes then. Of course it may put a hurtin on your trans axle?

Great video! But when are you gonna convert that mower to 4 wheel drive? That would be another great build series....and make getting through those mud holes a bit easier
Dig the Murray Romp Vids. Watching you ride on the hood backwards and then seeing you back out of one of the long runs that you did eventually make, I gotta say I look forward to the day that someone makes a rear engine front wheel drive muddin' mower... Think it would be near unstoppable.

i can shift while moving with my sears but i really have to be carefull to synchronise the engine rpm. its tricky. love your vids keep em up !

I watched the atv carb swap, you were hauling ass in the back of your place, I'm wondering... htf did you get the steering so tight on the murray? my mower sways real bad if I'm cruising over 25

i have a husqvarna with hydro rearend,if i pulley swapped front,would it be a good canditate for a mud mower? it has ahuge gas tank under seat,and battery is mounted out of the way right below top of the hood.has 20hp kohler command engine.

Fearless could you at your earliest convenience extend your rear splash guards by oh let's say 2 inches so you may not cover the camera as often. If you can do this at your earliest convience that would be most appreciated
The fuel problem, maybe if you put the filter as close as you can to the gas tank so it is as straight up and down as possible, even if you have to loop the fuel line after the filter to make it work. Just a thought.
cant wait to see you take the quadractor out. have you ever thought about making tracks for a mower? that would be pretty epic.

I have the same model Murray, and hope to do some of the same stuff you have done to yours, I also have a Non Racing-Racing Mower, which means not for any contests but just for my pleasure. I never would have thought mowers could take that abuse. I have an old MTD with new 12.5, needs pully work. Is there any way around the double swinging pully?

Hi Todd, I was wondering...ever had any problems because of the clutch/brake separation ? I mean...because you change gears while it's still moving, some people say the transmission and/or belts wear out because of it...

i pulled a brigs and strat 14.5hp engin ouy of an old murray with an automatic trans, and three it into a craftsman. 6 inch pulley in the front 4 in the back and I still have the govorner. clocked mine at 25mph, started wearing a helmet after that

Would a tractor with unlocked differential be able to do anything like this?

Matthew Barnes you either need really aggressive tires or a locked differential and some moderately aggressive tires. I wouldn't run big aggressive tires and a locked differential together unless you have a good tranny and axle shafts.
