Thank you so much for sharing this awsome idea. My husband just now made me four of them for my huge urn planters. They look beautiful! Thank you again for sharing this diy.
Kimberly, this video and the wood obelisk are both fantastic! I love the look of these round ones but they are so pricey online or at the nursery. This is great!
Thank you so much for sharing. This is an awesome project and you are right you save a lot of money just making you own obelisks. My hubby made 2 wood obelisk for my DA Teasing Georgia and so thankful for him. Love love this project and can’t wait to. Thanks again.
I agree! I couldn't afford the prices so I was so glad to find a solution to make as many as I wanted and in the perfect size. I hope you will try to make one or two. :)
Almost any place that receives shipments on pallets will have strapping that they throw away. If you ask, they will usually let you salvage it from their trash
Love this idea! Sorry, I cannot find the particular items posted on your Amazon page. Can you please let me know what the metal strapping is? Want to do these over winter. Thanks so much. I am enjoying your channel. Just found it last week.

Hello, I have had my orbelisk outside for about 2 weeks and the material I bought has already rusted. Gee, I was hoping the steel strapping and cabinet pull would not do this. Any suggestions?
Love this idea. I found you after watching the Garden Answers embroidery hoop version. I’ve got the supplies from your list which I believe include 3/4” x .020 steel strapping but am frustrated bc I can’t make the holes. The nail method didn’t work and now I’m still struggling while using my electric drill. Any recommendations for me? Thanks, Laure
Thank you for replying!! I will totally try the masking tape. There has been some slipping with both methods. When I hammer the nail does nothing. Maybe a different kind of nail??? I’ve tried several. Did manage to make 3 holes with my very basic drill but it took forever and the drill got hot. I’m planning to make several of these spheres so I have lots of holes left to drill.
I did it with a little help from my husband! Apparently I needed a much larger nail and a work bench in a cold garage. When I tried to pierce the strap with the nail previously I meekly pounded the. Nail into a board in my warm carpeted bedroom at 10 pm while wearing my nightgown. The nail was not impressed! This caused me to try to drill the holes which also didn’t work. Definitely use a large nail like a boss and I’ll will be well!
@@TheRoseGeek Gosh, thank you very much. Wish I was smart like your husband! Please tell him thank you. That is such a good idea to take out some length, bend it and hold it over my planter to see if I like the size. Thank you again!
I know I am pushing it here but if possible, I have 2 more sizes. One is an 18" and the other a smaller 9" planter. Is he at all able to calculate for me those two sizes for strapping? Thank you!!
@@TheRoseGeek Oh my, thank you both so very much! As you can tell, my first attempt will be the 16" and then I'll try a few more after that. I am going to work on these for Christmas gifts and already did get my 3/4" metal strapping in that you suggested we use. Thank you for your very informative video and Happy Holidays!
@@TheRoseGeek Hello, I have cut the metal straps and am having a hard time getting the nail through the metal. Just wondering what size metal drill bit(s) you might have used (if you did!)? I think I need to try this next. This metal is pretty thick! Thanks so much

I live in Australia. The items to your Amazon store aren't in the link? Or is it USA only?.
Very clever and informative your video. Thank you.

Love this project! How sturdy are the obelisks? Do they hold their shape pretty well if we want to use it as a hanging planter?
Good job 👌👍👍👍
how thick was strapping.; I am looking at one that is 0.02" thick, not sure if thats thick enough to keep shape.

Shouldn’t these be called planter orbs?
YES! Good point! I will update the title now. Thank you.
