This is video that I shot to show on a laptop computer at my daughter's school Science Fair.
It's a fun science demonstration when done safely. For the science fair, there was a glass dome over the pickle, several safety switches, and a dedicated circuit breaker.

@0:25 "Pickle in the dark" sounded like the title of a certain type of movie 🤣
I was thinking it would be an Album title!
two 9 Penney nails through a 2x4, and a lamp cord. put a 60w lightbulb in series and you have yourself a 60 second hotdog cooker. gets it nice and crisp on the edges too.
Yet another Good reason NOT to put pickles in your pocket!
hahaha nice effect! Bet it stinks though!!
Smells aweful.
That's what she said!
Came here to ask this.
Why you put the pickle in the electric chair? What it ever do to you?
need a ballast
It jumped to 1462 watts for a second.
But think of the money you save on lightbulbs!
That´s not how a sodium lamp does work ;-)
Now do it with sour pickles ;-)
For variation, I think it would be very interesting to try with a dimmer, on Direct Current, and at a higher voltage.
@@BenjaminNelsonX I'd watch that...
How isthe smell?
Bad.
If your pickle does this, pls see a professional
Meh ... Big Clive does that at 240 V
So, what I'm hearing is that I should try it at 360V DC?
