Beautiful I love this content. Big up, African women in STEM. I work as an automation engineer in South Africa. The company that you are working for is it a Cameroonian company or a multinational company? Why don't you guys bring laptops to the field and view the same data that is viewed by the people in the office from your dashboards.
Hi CodyBanks! Oh yes, it’s a multinational company. Regarding your last question, that is a bit of a thinker. Your suggestion makes so much sense and some of the field engineers do that, in fact they can even login and open the dashboards on their phones for a high-level view but I’ve thought about it and here’s what I’ll say 1. It will make the time spent on each site twice as long if they did the verification on both ends themselves. Some of these sites are found in remote locations, mountains, villages and the field team sometimes have more than 4 hours to travel each way for one site visit. Cutting that time down is not only more efficient but safer for those on the field. 2. Having a NOC team in the office to check, confirm and report what has been done for each site is an extra layer of control on the work done on each site, quality control if you will. Without that extra layer of accountability on both sides, I can’t tell you how much temptation there is to half-ass it and leave. It’s true that measures can be put in place to reprimand people who may not have done a thorough job but it’s better to have a working system that we get paid for than have to run after people after the fact to punish them for a system that our client can’t use. Sometimes, things are overlooked and it’s not because the individual is lazy or incompetent, and a second set of eyes from a different perspective can catch errors that aren’t as apparent to somebody who just spent the last 20 minutes working on it. 3. Most importantly, the field team and the NOC team in the office have 2 very different job descriptions and skill sets because it’s not just about checking if the data on the dashboard is the same as that physically measured but it’s also about troubleshooting, depending on if a discrepancy measured is a logical/software issue or a physical/hardware issue. It’s literally the difference between employing one person who has general knowledge on the whole system and can do a bit of everything, and employing two people each of who is an expert on one of the two different parts of the system to work on that part. Thanks for this comment - it made me really think about my role and really assess the need for my entire team. Loved the stimulation ✨👌🏽 PS: the term ‘site’ refers to one cell tower location.
Yes it is always best to ensure control area is reading the same as field site. Sometimes lines add distortions or signal loss or both. After maintenance a full loop check is necessary.

My supervisors for my masters program would tell me they are available for questions and I would never take them up on their offer because I had boxed myself into this idea that research is supposed to be independent study and if I’m worth my salt, I WILL FIGURE IT OUT. It came to the point where I had to tell myself ‘Life doesn’t have to be a struggle every single moment of my existence’. What you see now is a work in progress. I’m still trying to unlearn and climb down the pedestal I put myself on, and that every one around me put me on. No, I want to be down here where the ground is solid and where community functions. This was my mental state just a few months ago ua-cam.com/video/JlsXQWpe_mc/v-deo.html I want to encourage you again to ask for help and ask for clarification when you need it because 1. Time is too valuable. More valuable than money or even a reputation for being independent 2. We were are all part of the same body, the same machine, so we all need to help each other 3. Girl, you need to work on being consistent. You leave your subscribers craving for more content, you come back, make an apology and promise to get better but you never do get better, I don’t like that about you . How many times can one forgive a sister lol??? Anyways you have a lot of potential in this UA-cam content creating pls keep it up, I know multitasking is not easy but to make it in life today you must learn to multitask. That was me scolding at you to wake your behind up and creat more content consistently, it’s all love baby girl. Looking forward to another great one from you.
Wehh this one really touched me. You have a very good point! I will organise myself and do better. Thanks Andin!
