    Ah yes back in the good old days when everybody told you how to take it apart but didn't tell you how to put it back together. Loved it when youtube guides skipped like the other half of the video

      @ELMASCARILLA Рік тому +12

      I mean all you have to do is follow the same guide but backwards lol. The real danger is when you are trying to take apart a device but don't know where could a tiny ribbon cable be and snap it on accident x_x there's no coming back from that

    Thanks, this was useful for changing my old 3ds top screen. But, god damn those ribbon cables at the corner, passing them in that tiny round hole was a nightmare.

    Becareful removing the SD card reader on the side.
    Mine has some strong adhesive holding it to the plate that resulted in me breaking one of the connections to resolder.
    Use IPA 90% (min) to weaken it before prying the ready off to save yourself the extra work!

    Would I be able to access the headphone jack once I disassemble most of the 3DS? My little brother managed to get a small ball bearing stuck inside the headphone jack and no amount of shaking or banging would get the metal ball out. Would I be able to push it out once disassembled?

      Elijah Pardinas No. I'd suggest a thin pencil with a bit of blue tac or a magnet on the end to try and remove it.

      For the screwdrivers, I'm just using ones from an eyeglass repair kit, they're the same size. The wedges to pop off the plastic screen protector can be replaced with thumb tacks, or any small wedge-able item.

    I don't know about anyone else, but I've been trying to do this recently and the back screws next to the battery appear to be impossible to remove, even with a precision screwdriver.

      I couldn’t open a 3ds that I was shell swapping and then I just got a slightly better precision screw set and the problem is gone. They do require a good little bit of torque the first time to remove them so I stripped two other precision bits before that so best of luck

      I know this comment is old, but for the future person, use the rubber band trick. Put a rubber band between the screw and the screwdriver and turn it little by little doing a moderate pressure. This worked for me at least

    Is there any way to get a water damaged 3ds working?

    • @kc4415
      @kc4415 5 років тому +2

      best bet would be an ulltrasonic cleaner, if you don't happen to have one of those lying around, grab a soft toothbrush and some rubbing alcohol (100% isopropyl ) that can be bought cheap from a hardware store. Around the board for any areas where a lot of corrosion is present and clean if gently with the brush.
      Using these methods you can fix the logic board however, the screens may be malfunctioning due to water, buttons may have gotten misaligned and solder joints weakend. A 3ds can be picked up for around £40 easily, I would personally recommend just replacing it, of course, unless there is data you desperately want to save.

    Wish this would’ve mentioned that when you take apart the piece that houses the sad card it’s actually glued with a black adhesive with some kind of aluminum that’s pressed to the as cartridge I tore through it and now don’t know ether it’s going to effect the functionality of the whole thing, thumbs down 👎 😑
