Yes, the older strong were thinner and I am going back to them. More twang and tone. The tighter tension of the new thicker strings has reduced tone. They're just too thick.
@@PetesGuitarUniverse actually in the video I feel new one sounds sharper and more zing to the sound but you're the better judge hearing it live. BTW what string would you suggest ?
Hi Pete and thank you for the vid. I recently got the same guitar in black but it's a pain keeping its body clean from dust, fingerprints and other residue. I already use a cotton cloth to clean it but it's not enough, so I wanted to ask you what you use to clean it. Also I'm not a big fan of the original strings, they sound a bit dull when strumming without a pick, compared to other guitars. Picking sounds good, but I'm thinking of changing them.
@@andrugeorge I think because mine has woodgrain, it's not so noticeable when there's paw prints. But yes, keeping a cloth is the only way really. Or wet and dry sand it all down to a matte finish. That would look cool. But very energy intensive. Any new set of string will give you more zing. Just get light strings as you really don't want to have to fight thick ones
@@andrugeorge are you intending to leave it bare with no pickguard? If not, just work slowly from the middle and you'll be able to tell if the 99% IPA is doing any damage. Chances are you'll be fine. If you're adding a new guard, it will be invisible anyways. You can always slightly dilute the IPA with distilled water
Nice one. I'm amazed at the tone coming from it. I swapped strings to another brand and don't like it as much, so just shows there's a lot in the strings too
@@PetesGuitarUniverse I have bought a Fender Cd 60sce recently. After a few days I see that my bridge is uneven in thickness. Really worried. I can show you the photo. Where to send?
Thanks Bro!
You're welcome
Thanks for the video. very helpful. but am I crazy for liking the old string sound a bit more??!

@@mamad504 newer strings have a metallic zing, which wears off quickly. But the overall tone is less rich on the 12's. Fit some 11's (std).
Also how is this guitar compared to something like Ibanez AW5 or Yamaha FG800? I really like the sound of this Fender in your videos.
You'd have to sit and play them all back to back to know which suited you best. The CD60 is my fave acoustic in 20+ years
Hey Pete what's your opinion of using other oils, like teak oil meant for furniture, on a rosewood or laurel fretboard?
@@71Fenderv22 I would think it would be ok. Just so long as any colour tint doesn't rub off on your fingertips forever when playing.

@@PetesGuitarUniverse thanks for the tips :)
I decided to take off the old pickguard from my CD60 but I have 99.9% isopropyl alcohol. Will it damage the guitar?

@@PetesGuitarUniverse totally! I was thinking of trying new bridge pins as well, just to see if there's an improvement
anyways I'm really happy with its sound
Is the bridge thickness uneven? Is it natural?
The bridge is actually perfect. Even for thicker strings, still souds intonated well

I bought this guitar (different color) a few days ago. Your video was interesting. Thanks man.
Sweet. What colour did you get?
I got the Natural color@@PetesGuitarUniverse
@@amir.nouroozi.composer very nice. It's a tempting classic finish.
