Hi Mguy, Didn't the wheel spacers cause any interference between the tire and the car body after they were installed?

Errm, the load on those wheel bolts has moved more than the manufacturer intended...
Which is why they're illegal (unless already designed for them).

No!!! Omg wheel spacers are like lifting your truck. They are for honda civics and vw's. And they aren't safe + change the suspension geometry... if you're going to do it you get flat spacer-type and longer lugs. Just get wider wheels mguy - better performance, not just looks. Anyway love th videos good luck!

Almost everyone with a GT puts on wheel spacers in order to run the stock Mas wheels and make it look better

Well done you just advised your viewers that breaking the law in most of Australia and making your car "unroadworthy" is cool. You have also just told your insurance company that your car is unroadworthy so when you prang it they can back out of paying. Don't you say you are a lawyer and an engineer?

man, u nee to put some rims on it, maserati rims dont do justice to the design of the car. spacers, new rims and lower it a little, emprove the looks by 20%

You're actually harming you car; and the law against these components is sensible.
Wheel bearings comprise two races approximately two inches apart. The wheel rim is designed to put the load right in the middle of the two races. Wheel spacers will offset the weight to the outer race. Even worse-because the tyre is flexible by nature, this allows the wheel to apply a cocking force (the load is trying to apply a "negative camber" force) upon the bearings. We all know wheel bearings are very hardy, but you are now pushing them beyond their engineering; especially when driving long-distance at high speed-they are going to get very hot. This becomes a resilience issue. Essentially, you have weakened the bearings.
You have also weakened the stub axle because the load has been extended further out.
Now, some of you might remember deep-dish steel rims. They were usually chrome and were designed so that the original hub cap would clip on. It used to look pretty cool to have originals on the front and "fats" on the rear. In fact, I had four deep-dish steel rims on my Leyland Mini. But to my knowledge, the fat rims were fatter each way equally-the load was still carried in the centre of the bearings.
And even if you were to (illegally) widen a rim outwards by 20mm, the offset is only 10mm because you have not moved the inside edge of the rim.
Offsetting the load is less of an issue with a solid rear axle assembly but still illegal.
Aside that, I've just discovered this channel and I'm working my way through the videos. I love your work.

Thanks. I always wondered about load bearings etc, when you start to change offsets.

It’s a shame wheel spacers are illegal in every state of Australia.

It’s a ludicrous rule and people ignore it anyway. I will take them off to pass inspection.

Yes, hoping a RWC on my CLK500 isn’t knocked back due to any spacers on the AMG wheels added by the previous owner. I can see an insurance company using this as an excuse not to pay a claim though. Food for thought …
