    0:20- left is Jesus, right is St John the baptizer. You should ve chose one of them for both icons.

    Thank you, very informative. It’s difficult to say which I like better. Both styles are appealing. I think the writing of each style prayerful practice. Humbling ego and being present. Saying in Greek Orthodox praying with icons, “ you are not the viewer, you are the one being viewed.” Both Russian and Greek icons welcome each person into the open window of the Saint portrayed.

    Thank you Basia, most interesting. Best of all, I like the Russian softness and the light that comes through from many thin layers of paint. But I also like the realistic facial features and bright, bold colors of the Greek style. Now I want to try mixing the two styles in one icon - I'm practicing with painting an icon of Michael the Archangel for a friend - and think I will like this mixing of styles.

      I love this about Russian style as well. But yeah it is nice to contain the two and explore both. I’m sure there and interesting things about both.

    Does it matter, if you own as Russian Orthodox as well Greek icons and opposite?

    So looking at my icons, I seem to like the Greek style, although this may also because I have had more access to them.

    I prefer the Russian style.
