- This video on Eggbeater and Treading Water covers additional drills and techniques designed to help beginner water polo players, swimmers, lifeguards, or anyone interested in learning how to tread water. We go over some stretches that will make your eggbeater more efficient and more powerful. We also break down the 4 steps on land so that you can practice your eggbeater in or out of the pool. @Shaquatics
Been waiting over 7yrs for part 2, now I may rest
😂😂
Thank you for demonstrating the eggbeater out of the water ! Best vid on eggbeater by far!
Great job, ive been waiting for this. How about the sculling motion?
Yes, I need to do one on sculling, thank you for reminding me. I will get on that right away!
Thanks. Great explaination and demonstration.
Thank you very much
great!
Great vid 👍
Thank you! Part 3 has some good tips also if you're working on your eggbeater.
nice breakdown of the steps. Maybe this will help me succeed in this technique (old guy of 66)
Good luck, I hope it does!
ive been trying to practice this tread but every time i sink faster than if i weren't to move my legs at all lol. Its like I'm pushing the water up instead of down
I would recommend working on your breastroke kick exclusively for a few months then come back to the alternating eggbeater kick. Use a noodle if you need one to stay up and go slowly. Have you watched our first eggbeater video as well? If not, please watch that one as well.
Does treading mess up your knees? I play basketball that might affect it and I swim for fun.
It can mess up your knees if you do it incorrectly. If you keep your knee aligned with your leg as we teach then you shouldn't have any knee issues, in fact it should be easier on your knees than basketball. If you start to have knee pain while treading I would definitely stop.
@@Shaquatics when you point your feet out, is that driven by hips internal rotation or driven just by the feet?
@@kiddkai The hip turns out when the foot turns out, that's what keeps the knee in proper alignment. It's similar to ballet when the dancers turn out in first position, they must turn their hips out when they turn their feet out in order to keep the proper knee alignment. That's a great questions, hope that helps.
So your not really rotating your leg or going forwards or backwards with your leg?
No, it's more of an up and down and it makes the illusion that you're circling forwards and backwards. Think about it logically, if you wanted to elevate upwards then why would moving the leg forwards in front of you or backwards behind you help you, it wouldn't. The way to elevate up is to push down underneath you. We just finished a really good video that explains the pitfalls of eggbeater kick and I think it will help you. It's up at: ua-cam.com/video/Ztv72jD3c9A/v-deo.html
Do not do the first two stretches. they are very bad for your knees. you can modify both or do separate stretches entirely that target the same muscles. for example, on the second stretch, lying on your stomach, pull your ankle parallel to your upper leg. this will put significantly less strain on your knee
One day I'll get this 🤣
Check out the whole series, we have 3 parts up now. That should help because there's lots of drills you can try out. Also, the better your breastroke kick the easier it is to learn to tread so take some time to work on your breastroke kick. Good luck and you can ask me questions if you're struggling.
@@Shaquatics just wanted to say I'm about to try out all of ur steps on my kid that I'm teaching. This is my 2nd swim lesson I have ever done and I think it will help. So thanks!
Amanda Barrett You’re welcome, glad we could help!
lol, only took 6 yrs
Android Kenobi Stay tuned for part 3 in 2026!
