That’s what I was thinking. I was wondering what the difference between the two were. Different regions call things by different names that’s for sure.

Chelsea, I’ve been watching you for about a year. I just want to say you are so easy to watch . Your attitude is very positive and uplifting. You see the good in everything, I love the way you talk and treat your animals. Keep up the good work!!
We do exactly that. We are grid tied, but we also have a stand alone solar array. We use the solar for a majority of our needs, but it won't run hot water heating. And the biggest issue is learning to not Operate numerous high power drawing appliances at the same time. My husband wired in transfer switches and relays, and delay timers to make it seamless. I use my off cuttings to make broth. I use celery end, onion and garlic skins, carrot ends, tomatoes ends. Many other things like spinach or herb ends. I cook down with pepper and herbs. If I have pumpkin or squash seeds I use them also. It works very well.
Haha! I do the same thing. My projects are not as large and involved as yours but I still underestimate how long it will take. I am always telling viewers we will be finished in a day or two, then have to take it back.😅
I save some of my veg waste in the freezer. Then when I have a couple of gallon bags full, I make vegetable broth and can it. The rest goes to compost. Your kitchen is looking beautiful!
Hi Chelsea👋🏼 I hope you enjoyed your time away from UA-cam; I sure missed your beautifully friendly face! I love the updated cabinets. The new color and white appliances really did brighten up the kitchen. I hope you’re pleased with the results so far. Processing organic hogs for Christmas gifts is a great idea. I would love to receive meat raised right as a gift! I am also a soup in the winter person. I almost never eat soup from April thru September; same thing with heavy casseroles; those months I crave fresh veg and *berries!* OMGOODNESS the bunkie is bigger snd cuter than I thought! Hope all is well at LMR and your family is healthy. Hugs, Doc ❤
I missed you! Good to see you back on camera, the kitchen and bunkie are looking fantastic!! Soup is the best, you get the warm coziness from the smells and taste.❤
Hi! We have a bunkie too for maybe 6 years now (10x10 one) Just a note about the loft… we slept there a couple of times and even if we are under quite strong tree canopy it gets very hot in the summer(we live in Quebec) (there is only one window up there and we have no electricity) even so that I had a heat stroke one night and we never slept there again. The bunkie we have you can see down stairs (we have a fence like thing so we don’t fall) sorry for my English even tough I’m bilingual I’m too tired to think straight haha. Just wanted to let you know about that point since I see yours is not as protected by trees.
You will have to get another milk cow - skim the cream and give the milk to the pigs to offset the feed bill that way you can still give scraps to them. I give it all to the chickens and what they don't eat gets tromped down and composts in the manure pile when coop is cleaned out. Cabins look great!! Good video.
Are you going to have composting toilets? Out house reminds me of. Going to visit relatives that lived in the country when we were young. They had a three hole out house which was always smelly and not fun to go out there in the dark. What fond memories LOL
I find at this time of year, I don't peel my carrots but just scrub them well. Also, I don't see any comments about our typically Canadian pizza of ham and pineapple! LOL Galuskas are also called spaetzle. Great bunkie!
You should watch a UA-camr Shawn James The Outsider. His last video shows him taking a sheet of copper and turning small sections into panels for his cupboard door inserts. The easy process turned them into copper with turquoise highlights. Beautiful. I was thinking how they would set your kitchen off.
When making the “dumpling” dough I add more flour but don’t mix it in completely. It will thicken the soup and make it extra yummy! We always add this to beef and chicken stew.
We just finished a project in our home that we started at the end of September ..but we had other projects that became more priority..but I’m so glad we are done ..but alwsys something to do in an older home.. I have a very big list, but I know that it may take time my husband is ill and I have a wrist and a cast so things will take us a bit longer ..but as long as it gets done
Hello, you might consider buying a Spätzle press - you could put the dough through in no time and have a nice consistency. My grandma used this often. Greetings from Germany, Stefanie
I was worried too. I live in Ontario and I was thinking if you didn’t post soon I was going to take a road trip to BC, just to make sure you guys were okay. Love your kitchen.
We call those noodles rivels, its a German drop noodle and can be found in a lot of Amish recipe books. I grew up eating them and now my kids love them as well.
I am sure you know this but going to tell ya anyway, My Cows love carrots potatoes they Love veggies . they do not like onions tho, They also love bread. I love the soup I can imagine the smell of your kitchen I know it smells incredible
Hi Chelsea. I have a question which leads to a suggestion. May be possible, maybe not. My idea is, instead of utilizing the closet as small pantry, perhaps there is potential access from downstairs up to the small closet that could possibly be configured as a "silent butler." This would virtually eliminate having to carry your heavy pantry goods (which can be tiring) up and downstairs several times a day. An old fashioned manual pulley system could be used instead of electric motor. It's just a thought.... ☺
Hey, the cabinets are a lot brighter! I didn't actually think it would make a huge difference, but it kinda does. I don't know what kind of dumpling galushkas?? are, but I might try em on my ma - she's always mad that her chicken and dumplings dumplings aren't like her ma's, maybe her ma just made them with eggs! Who knows.
I like your kitchen cabinets. I'm sure it added brightness to your kitchen. Next time I make veggie soup I will be making your noodles to put in. I always save my carrot peels and ends, celery ends, and onion skins and ends in large ziplock bags. I put them in my freezer but I bet you could put it outside and it would be plenty cold. Then whenever I want to make stock (veggie or bone broth) I dump a ziplock bag into a pot of water and simmer it. :)
I'm totally going to try to make "galushkas" (sp?) with my gluten free flour. Fingers crossed it works cause that soup looked sooooo good! Oh and you may want to consider saving your onion peels (yellow and red) if you ever want to experiment with dying the yarn you get from your sheep. Our daughter makes us save all of ours for her crocheting projects.
I don't mind chewy "dumplings" but if you are making it with gluten-free flour and don't want them chewy, DO NOT use 1 to 1 flour. I would use a gluten free, yeast free bread dough recipe instead.

Best gift I ever received was when my hubby built a pantry for me to store our big pots, air fryer, crockpots, etc
I save all of the scraps from carrots, celery and onions and freeze them for when i make broth. Works great!
Such peelings etc make great veg stock, which you can reduce considerably to freeze in concentrated form thus saving freezer space.
