Shoutouts to my childhood home that got bulldozed and paved over for, ironically, a funeral home parking lot. Words can't describe how great it was to grow up in the 2000's with your grandparents living across the street, and being within walking distance of a McDonald's and a park. ❤
I heard this song when I learnt about environmental issues and we read the words and the really spoke to my class……..❤ And the words r really true……. 1:121:171:20
I remember this song when Janet Jackson sampled it, but didn’t really resonate with it. I love CCs version much better. Didn’t know it was a Joni Mitchell original. Props to JM💜
Gonna have to hard disagree with that one. Sure many covers are soul-less overproduced flimsy shells of the original, but this is not one of those imo. The additions keep in spirit, like the vocal harmonies, the sound of the taxi car door shutting during the bridge, no change to the lyrics (despite DDT not having been a thing for 30 years when this was released). This feels like the homage it was intended to be, a little extra accentuation with some harmony and very light use of orchestral elements without shellacking the original meaning.

Amen. Fix one thing and we break another. Facts of life. So what paradise will it be?
Only Joni could write a gem such as this.
They did a great job covering that song. Even a little better than the original
My son asked me to play this song the original cuz they play it at school and I said no that's not right, this is the one I grew up with .. ❤❤
They paved paradise put up a fucking light.
Great! Unfortunately so few views!
Amo amo amo esta música, quisiera pronunciar bien esta joya❤
When I was a kid I actually thought the lyrics were
“They paved paradise and put up a F**k in life”
“OOOOH, F**k F**k F**k”
Lol…I literally always thought it was “Pay paradise and put up a parking lot” but I like yours
Quite close to what i thaught the first line was: they paved paradise and put up a f#cking lie. I used to sing that out loud on the work floor 😳🤓
Best ever
And cheesy enough, Ive always imagined dancing with the love of my life to this song. Lol.

Joni’s is the legitimate version-this sucks.
This is even more better
back off !!!
Without this version a lot of people would die without knowing the song. You should be happy about it.
