I think he had a change of plans/❤️ for his percussion teaching and wanted to shower his BADASS writing skills all OVER scv's LEGENDARY status. He got tired with Phantom Regiment's drumline I take it.
Things like wood (or the phone book - like I was advised to practice on way back when people used phone books every so often ... say circa 1992) have none of the rebound that the Remo Flam heads or even practice pads do. You have to actually stroke the hell out of each note, not just rely on the rebound from the drum head. It is more difficult to play fast tempo accurately on objects with little to no rebound. Why do they play on random objects? Because they CAN.
@tommy2122108 any luck on the write out? so far ive got 1 + 2 paradiddle diddle, paradiddle diddle, paradiddle diddle, into 2 eights (3 + maybe) into triplets 4 e a 1 e a with the a and 1 accented. two eights (2 + maybe) into 16ths diddles on 3 e + a (9stroke) straight eights) 4 +, trips with accents into 16ths with diddles etc.... i dont have it all worked out yet i dont think...hott lick tho...

unfortunately there is very little thats being played clean here, particularly the first minute and a half
@StringsofMartyr I know a few guys who go out and buy a bunch of rubber and put it on their tables and have a snare sectional...its pretty sweet
