Royal definitely took it to the next level with these crew areas. Happy crew means happy guests. A special shout out to the crew bar, every bit as nice as any guest bar. Outstanding!

It's good that RCL has upgraded the crew neighborhood just as they are doing for the passengers. It is more important for the crew because of how long your contracts are.

I recently sailed on Icon and the staff they have on this ship is incredible! Every single one of them we interacted with was top notch!
Wow! Chris, you have hit the Crew Member Jackpot!!! That crew neighborhood is nicer than most of the neighborhoods back in the crew's homeland -- you guys work so hard and definitely deserve a nice area to chill out when off duty!
This shows how much the crew is valued by RCCL. I love how much thought went into taking care of the crew.
Well, this is cheaper for RC than paying them more.

They should be proud of this. It's wonderful to see crew get treated as well as the passengers. They're busting hump for minimal pay, and let's be honest, the ship could be wonderful or a dog...but it's the crew that will make or break it.
Wow! The crew Windjammer food looks just like what they serve passengers. Glad to see it, because you all deserve it.
I have a feeling that was a special event. I doubt they do ice sculptures for the crew everybody day.

this is a beautiful ship and also with the things they have for the crew is really something i feel more ships should do because the crew would really appreciate it and have a place to blow off steam on a hard day
Hopefully this will inspire RCL to refurbish crew areas on the rest of the fleet. They deserve it!

Chris, I am delighted to see that Royal Caribbean is giving its Icon staff the best treatment in the entire cruise industry. The Crew Neighbourhood is effectively a ship within the megaship! It is as big as, or even bigger than, many ships, given that Icon has about 2,300 employees and the majority of ships are carrying fewer passengers than that, right?
Royal have done such a good job with this ship. Love that they not only raised the bar for passenger accommodation but for crew too. The bar at the end is nicer than some of the guest bars on other ships!!! Love the portholes.

this is the best crew area , we were lucky to have crew cafeteria/tiny/small buffet the crew gym never used and crew bar was cheap drinks $1.00 2003 when I was on princess, worked as musician. I like color schemes and crew areas were so beautifully designed. Royal knows how to take care of their crew for sure they just work them 12-16hrs day excluding musicians in lounges or showroom theatres.
Congrats Chris on another great stream. The Icon's crew area looks better than most US University student unions and cafeterias.

Wow at the Crew Appreciation Dinner! I realize this isn't a typical night, but the fact that they went all-out with ice sculptures, elaborate decorations, beautifully displayed food speaks volumes. Same with the crew areas being fitted with nice fittings and furniture that are more than worthy of guest areas. RC didn't have to do this, but that they took the extra effort and expense is impressive. All of this makes me want to give RC business over other cruise lines.

Wow!!!!! Love.how RCL treats the crew. We cruised RCL SONG OF.NORWAY in 1974. It was top notch then. Such a classy operation. Far above a Carnival cruise.

This was so amazing to see. The concept of 'neighbourhoods' blew my mind when I was on Symphony last year, but this is NEXT LEVEL. The fact the crew have another hidden neighbourhood 'behind the scenes' is fascinating - thanks for showing us this!

I loved the layout and seeing all the food the crew is offered. It’s amazing. Makes you really think about the amount of food the ship has to have for both the crew and passengers.

Spent 6 years on ships first with Princess then Disney. Seeing this set up, I hope it sets an example for other cruise lines to follow.
Chris, towards the end of this video, I was happy to see the crew's Fitness Centre and also that you exercise and do not smoke tobacco. However, working in a smoke-filled casino every day is just as bad as actually smoking. Do you wear a mask while you are working? Are you advocating for smoke-free casinos?
I would imagine it will become competitive between the crew members wanting to be assigned to the ICON.

that is highly commendable and should be THE STANDARD for other cruise lines as well. I saw a video about another company where the passengers could tell the CREW were not happy at all and appeared Stressed to the Max.

Thank you so much for doing these videos. I don't know about anyone else but I tend to forget that they crew also has a life on the ship. I mean absolutely no disrespect at all. I am grateful for all that the crew does for all of us. Definitely eye opening and great to see. Wish you would be there when I get there but one day I will be on the same ship as you :D
