I'm pretty sure that I could enjoy some cold immersion therapy in that pool. But I don't know if I could enjoy it anywhere else. I'm really going to need that gorgeous view around me to motivate me. You are an amazing woman Julie! You are truly inspiring. Mapperton is one of the most beautiful places in the world in my opinion. And I hope one day I get to visit.
My uncle had a natural spring swimming pool at his childhood home and it had pebbles on the bottom to help filter the algae problem. Plus it will look amazing too. :)
@@KuchiKopi179 I think the point would be that you wouldn't need to clean it manually at all :) Natural aquatic plants and structure, plus the feeding from the spring I'd bet, make it self-cleaning like a true natural pond.
A few tweaks to the grounds to get the right plants around it, they'll do all the cleaning. I would love to have a natural spring! Except, in Michigan, it'd be somewhat nipply.
I just discovered you from a suggestion to watch the cleaning of this pool. I've now explored both channels, the website, the facebook page, and subscribed. I can't wait to catch up on all the videos!
Swimming with frogs sounds like fun. When swimming in the lake by where I grew up, sometimes the bluegills would nibble your toes out in the deep end. :) That was always fun, too. They just tickled, no big deal. :D

My mom grew up with access to a 19th century pool on an 18th century estate in Virginia. She said it was 100,000 gallons, spring fed and overlooked the Shenandoah River. It was super deep on one end and kinda deep on the shallow end. She said there was a rumor that Hessian soldiers were made to dig the hole. She doesn’t believe it. She said it was super cold in the summer. It was drained and cleaned yearly. But there weren’t power washers then just scrubbing with brooms.

I have already been using my pool for the last few weeks. We've had a lot of rain & cooler temperatures than I would really like. More like British weather than the US South! The water has been around 23 degrees centigrade (74 degrees Fahrenheit) in the water. I would love it to be a bit warmer. It's like your cold immersion therapy but it felt great after cleaning my house this morning!
Julie, please tell us, what is the history of the pool? Who installed it and when? Was it a water feature before it was a pool? How will you be maintaining it now it’s clean? Keep up the good work, I love work, could watch it for hours. ;)
You are a braver woman than I. However, you make the whole experience seem like a great idea. Maybe I'll try it next time I am in the south of France . 😆😆
Is the water free for a pool? If not, how much does it cost to fill that sized pool? Did they check for leaks first? What about chlorine? Algae will form eventually.
If you are ever in Austin, Texas, try the cold water in Barton Springs pool in Zilker Park. However, it may be even more crowded than years ago. Hamilton pool is the Hill County is closed this year due to failing rocks in the grotto.
That's right, there is a stream that runs through the valley where the gardens are set, so it enters the pool here, then drains back down to the stream below 😊
I do this every year on my birthday December 8th. And I live in Montana USA near the Canadian boarder. Then in Spring I start doing it once a week in April even if there is snow. But I don’t have an 18th century pool to do it in, I do my dips in a river!😬☃️❄️🌬
This woman just kills me. She is so darned funny and not really full of herself at all. She must be a scandal to any stick in the mud high mucky mucks? I so enjoy watching her.
That looks amazing, I didn't know there where such a thig as an 18'th century swimming pool, I mean was concrete invited back in the 17 hundreds? and did they also just use it as an unfiltered pool/pond? I wonder if the water going through is like a natural underwater stream, or some filter system you have put in. A lot of people these days are making natural swimming pools with great filtration, you could easily incorporate a planted zone with filtration which would allow you to have totally clear water and not all that algae growth. The wildlife loves it as well, as it keep all the build up of nitrate and nasty things in the water down.
I think there must've been some type of concrete, the entire mansion was built back then and I believe they had paved roads too. I'm definitely not an expert though haha
This is my favorite video of yours but so many questions. ,! First off, I’m terrified of murky water. I like frogs , but not swimming with them 🤣 and does it smell bad ? Weird question , but I feel like it would ! Also what about snakes ?? Susan Forman ~ Ohio ❤️

A lot of people are using salt water for their pools instead of chlorine, just a thought. I wish I could do this it looks so invigorating!❤️
@@EmiliaJay There is a big difference with salt electrolysis system; the water just tastes salty and you do not smell of chlorine after.
Would kill to wake up and swim in a pool like this.
This is my favorite video of yours but so many questions. ,! First off, I’m terrified of murky water. I like frogs , but not swimming with them 🤣 and does it smell bad ? Weird question , but I feel like it would ! Also what about snakes ??

And a nice cup of tea, after that!😆☕
I couldn’t swim in a pool that wasn’t clear. Or that had frogs in it. Cheers to you.
So, what happened to the frogs and tadpoles when the pool got drained?
They “croaked”.
@@teetarquin7012, bahahahahaha!
That’s the biggest pool I’ve ever seen.
😊 Can you stay more than two minutes? How long is the Maximum?
