I'm pretty sure that I could enjoy some cold immersion therapy in that pool. But I don't know if I could enjoy it anywhere else. I'm really going to need that gorgeous view around me to motivate me. You are an amazing woman Julie! You are truly inspiring. @@KuchiKopi179 I think the point would be that you wouldn't need to clean it manually at all :) Natural aquatic plants and structure, plus the feeding from the spring I'd bet, make it self-cleaning like a true natural pond.

A few tweaks to the grounds to get the right plants around it, they'll do all the cleaning. I would love to have a natural spring! Except, in Michigan, it'd be somewhat nipply.

My mom grew up with access to a 19th century pool on an 18th century estate in Virginia. She said it was 100,000 gallons, spring fed and overlooked the Shenandoah River. It was super deep on one end and kinda deep on the shallow end. She said there was a rumor that Hessian soldiers were made to dig the hole. She doesn’t believe it. She said it was super cold in the summer. It was drained and cleaned yearly. But there weren’t power washers then just scrubbing with brooms.

:) You are so cute doing the spray power wash. You always take on such interesting stances. Thanks for the smiles. Glad the pool is back in working order. The cove in back makes me think of Viscaya’s pool and cove. There was running water that ran near the cove and since I had a season pass, I would go there to write, read, or sketch/ paint. It was my refuge from my military time. I wonder if yours ever had running water trickling to cool your little grotto/cove. Growing up in New England, the sea, river and lakes are always freezing. I used to trick myself as a kid and tell myself, “Think warm thoughts”, as you run and dive in. Going in on a ladder is a sure sign of a brave soul. Be well and keep these videos coming. Hugs and light.

I love how you made this look fun. Cold water therapy is such ancient wisdom and the Nordic folks have definitely done it forever. The Finns invented the sauna, I believe and it was paired with an ice bath. From a technical perspective, this is called * Vasodilation- which is the widening of the blood vessels which decreases blood pressure and * Vasoconstriction- which is the narrowing of the blood vessels which increases blood pressure. 🤓 Thıs ancıent therapy practıce ıs ınvaluable for the internal organs- and since blood=life this practice supports the nervous system (which lives up and down the spine) to support the total well being of the body. It’s 100% preventative medicine for sure. I have always enjoyed Russian baths/Korean baths/Turkish baths/Swedish/Finnish baths since they all share this ancient therapy with cold plunge and hot baths. I always raise my body temp first in a hot bath - then cold plunge after. I usually do 2-3 rounds each plunged in both for 2-5 minutes. Thank you for your wonderful video to show this amazing healthy therapy. Happy Sunday Julie 💕

That is so amazing. Makes me wonder about the types of swim suits people wore back then to swim in that pool. If this is a daily activity I hope you've checked/updated the pool piping to make sure it's not lead but copper or plastic. If it is lead, I believe there is testing to see if it is leaching into the water which can be dangerous. Sometimes over time old lead pipes develop this huge oxidized layer/film of some kind so the water doesn't touch the lead, so often old lead piping can be safe. -Cheers

I do this every year on my birthday December 8th. And I live in Montana USA near the Canadian boarder. Then in Spring I start doing it once a week in April even if there is snow. But I don’t have an 18th century pool to do it in, I do my dips in a river!😬☃️❄️🌬

A lot of people are using salt water for their pools instead of chlorine, just a thought. I wish I could do this it looks so invigorating!❤️

@@EmiliaJay There is a big difference with salt electrolysis system; the water just tastes salty and you do not smell of chlorine after.

That looks amazing, I didn't know there where such a thig as an 18'th century swimming pool, I mean was concrete invited back in the 17 hundreds? and did they also just use it as an unfiltered pool/pond?
I wonder if the water going through is like a natural underwater stream, or some filter system you have put in. A lot of people these days are making natural swimming pools with great filtration, you could easily incorporate a planted zone with filtration which would allow you to have totally clear water and not all that algae growth. The wildlife loves it as well, as it keep all the build up of nitrate and nasty things in the water down.

I think there must've been some type of concrete, the entire mansion was built back then and I believe they had paved roads too. I'm definitely not an expert though haha

This is my favorite video of yours but so many questions. ,! First off, I’m terrified of murky water. I like frogs , but not swimming with them 🤣 and does it smell bad ? Weird question , but I feel like it would ! Also what about snakes ??

I couldn’t swim in a pool that wasn’t clear. Or that had frogs in it. Cheers to you.
