I thank God so much that these people in the 1800s had the courage to stand for their convictions. Yes, Jesus did go into the Most Holy Place in heaven to begin his final atonement on October 22, 1844.
May we have such courage against a scoffing world today.

I will NEVER understand how Miller and Adventists today can imply ignore What Gabriel told Daniel:
Daniel 8:21 The shaggy goat represents the kingdom of Greece, and the large horn that is between his eyes is the first king. 22 The broken horn and the four horns that arose in its place represent four kingdoms which will arise from his nation, although not with his power.
23 “In the latter period of their rule,
When the transgressors have run their course,
    A king will arise,
    Insolent and skilled in intrigue.
This little horn arose during the latter period of divided Greece which was before the Roman Empire rose to power. Daniel 8 had absolutely nothing to do with 1844.

Our sin killed us, we were dead, completely powerless, it was only by His grace that we were made alive. So as Christ was raised from the dead by the Father's glory, His Holy Spirit, we now walk by the Spirit, to a life opposite of breaking His law, a life of of keeping His commandments. John 14:15 We died to sin, we cannot live anymore in it.

There were a great many who were not "disappointed", for they interpreted that He came where Jeremiah stated: The Lord did indeed set His throne in Elam, or Persia, in 1844. 1260 AH. He was called the Bab (Gate), was killed in 1850, along with 20,000 followers who fell by the edge of the sword. He was the Herald of One greater, Baha'u'llah (Glory 0f God) in 1863 (1280 AH, also 1290 from the announcement of the Revelation of Muhammad, dismissed in the West out of ignorance and prejudice.)

Daniel 7:9 cannot be out of context, because if you read Daniel chapter 7 you can see a chronological order from the beginning of the chapter to the end. If you read Daniel 1-9 and Revelation totally harmonize. If you read a little later, the world has not ended yet Daniel 7:9 and over you can clearly see that. Hebrews 4:14 "Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

Daniel's great vision appeared in Elam, SW Persia.
Jeremiah 49:36 said "The Lord shall set His throne in Elam, again SW Persia. This was all to occur in 1844, and did, when the Bab appeared, in Elam, in 1844, or 1260 AH. Countless other prophecies verify themselves in perfect concert with these time and place prophecies. Read Some Answered Questions, by Abdul Baha for sufficient explanation. Thank you.

@radiomanguy Daniel 7:9 "I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool:his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire." Daniel 7:10 "A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: THE JUDGMENT was set, and the books were opened.

Regarding 1844. You may not be aware of it, but SDAs use *the same exact starting point for two entirely different prophecies* , each separated from each other by 14 years (the 2300 days prophecy of Daniel 8 and the Seventy-Sevens prophecy of Daniel 9)
We should ask ourselves *"What is the rationale here?"*

  • @medicello9
    @medicello9 13 років тому

@radiomanguy Hebrews 4:14 can clearly show us that the God head operates in harmony with the Sanctuary. It is true that we are not saved by works, But you need to see that God wants us to do our part also. He is now ministering as our High Priest, He did not just die, he rose and entered the holy place, and later to the most holy place in which he is Ministering in our behalf.

  • @freddietz96
    @freddietz96 10 років тому +4

Well, their church split into 3 sects, with a great many former believers suddenly joining the Shakers (which would itself peter-out as a belief system in the early 20th century). After the split the former Millerites developed a mess of theories and doctrines, each meant to give legitimacy to the 1844 Second Coming (even though there wasn’t any). They were like flat-earth people, or followers of geocentricism: each had an “idee fixe” they leaned on like a crutch to give themselves sanity-not unlike anorexia nervosa, kleptomania or pyromania. However, unlike these disorders, the Millerite “monomania” wasn’t exclusive to the individual, but rather, something which could be communally shared by a group (not unlike racism or nepotism). Furthermore, former Millerites were now apt to envy/fear/hate people outside the group all the more intently, seeing as persons outside wouldn’t have need for such a “crutch” to help them get through each day.
That may sound as though I don’t support Christianity, whereas I do. However, with the “idee fixe” you’re not really talking about Christianity. You’re talking about emotionalism. And with the sharing of the idee-fixe you’re not talking about a real Christian fellowship of pastoring and inner growth, but rather, a social communion that insists upon denying challenging new concepts instead of wrestling with them.
I have read the works of the great Christian metaphysical philosophers Georg WF Hegel, George Berkeley and Warren Felt Evans, and their works are profound-faithful, yet totally devoid of any emotionalism whatsoever. There is no need for them to raise their voices-NOTHING ADDED BY PUNCTUATING EVERY OTHER SENTENCE WITH “ALL CAPS”. Yet that’s the opposite of the Millerites and all other charismatics like them.
But that craziness is still around, too. “May 21, 2011”-that was the date given by 88-year-old Harold Camping back in 2009, host of California’s syndicated “Family Radio”. I can well remember driving around York, Pennsylvania in 2010 and seeing vans with that 5/21/2011 printed on their vehicle wrap advertising. Camping died in December of 2013 as a result of a fall he suffered in his home while recovering from a stroke-but not without first having a serious change of heart. From Wiki:
“Camping was reported to have retired from his position at Family Radio on October 16, 2011, only days before his last predicted date for the end of the world. However, his daughter later clarified that he had not retired outright, but was maintaining a role at Family Radio while working from home. Camping admitted in a private interview that he no longer believed that anybody could know the time of the Rapture or the end of the world, in stark contrast to his previously staunch position on the subject. In March 2012, he stated that his attempt to predict a date was ‘sinful’, and that his critics had been right in emphasizing the words of Matthew 24:36: ‘of that day and hour knoweth no man’. He added that he was now searching the Bible ‘even more fervently...not to find dates, but to be more faithful in [his] understanding.’ Since the failure of Camping's prophecies, Family Radio has suffered from a significant loss of assets, staff and revenue.”
Or-here-let’s leave out all the psychobabble terms for this condition and call it for what it is: childishness.
It’s the exact opposite of the sincerely devoted Presbyterian minister Fred Rogers doing his “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood”, a show specifically for children, and one in which he mentioned no religious dogma whatsoever. Rather, in a manner that was nothing short of “nurturing”, Rogers taught basic decency-warm-heartedness, kindness, patience, a willingness to find joy even in sorrowful times-mature virtues recognizable in any religion (and even amongst those of no faith whatsoever). This is the exact opposite of the charismatics who wish to be nurtured themselves-this, even as they posit themselves into a role to declare who God will proclaim as “saved” or “damned”. And how old was Harold Camping when he was doing this stuff? He was 88. Isn’t that pathetic?
    [It certainly isn’t “Jesus-like”.]
I say this because I had the misfortune of growing around some people like Camping. I think they owe me an apology for their contemptuous, loveless and even hateful behavior.
And if I never get one?
Doesn’t matter. I’ll remember what was good in them, forgetting what was bad. Let’s say I just “roll that way”.
See, what I’ve come to interpret as “beauty” in this lifetime has very little to do with self-conceited scholars making damning pronouncements in the name of their creator, or with their young followers betraying the love of their friends to follow these things. I’ve since seen people do better than that. That’s what I bear witness to-the fact people can do better, many believing in God and Christ, even. So much done in these eight-odd decades of existence can simply be done without.

okay sit down school is at hand..
      lets start here
      A True Prophet of God
To find out if Ellen White was a true prophet of God, we first need to find out from the Bible what a true prophet was like. There are certain characteristics of a Bible prophet. So let's take a look through them and then find out if Ellen White fulfilled these "marks of a prophet".
"When the word of the prophet shall come to pass, then shall the prophet be known." (Jeremiah 28:9)
"He shall not speak of himself, but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak." (John 16:13)
"But truly I am full of power by the Spirit of the LORD .. to declare to Israel his sin." (Micah 3:8)
"And I will utter my judgments against them touching all their wickedness, who have forsaken me." (Jeremiah 1:16)
"Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God." (1 John 4:2)
"Ye shall know them by their fruits." (Matthew 7:16)
"He shall speak unto them all that I command him." (Deuteronomy 18:18)
So we have a list of charateristics that help us know if a prophet is truly a prophet of God. So the prophecies of a true prophet will of course come to pass. A true prophet will not speak of themselves, but will bring glory to God. A true prophet will point out sin. A true prophet will speak of coming judgments. A true prophet will proclaim that Jesus came in the flesh as fully human, capable of sin. A true prophet will have a good Christian character. And a true prophet will be obedient to the will of God.
So does Ellen White fulfill these marks of a true prophet? Well, before we go on, the first thing I would like to confirm is that a woman CAN be a prophet of God. The reason I want to confirm this is because there are some people who reject Ellen White straight away because she is a woman, and they believe that God only uses men as prophets. Well, this thinking is in direct opposition to God's Word, because there were a number of prophetesses in the Old Testament, including Miriam, Deborah, Huldah, and Noadiah. So God DOES use women as His prophets also.
      Any Prophets After Jesus?
Another point that some people raise against Ellen White is that there were to be no more prophets after the time of Christ Jesus. This we can deal with swiftly from the Bible.
Acts 11:27-28 ...'And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch. And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the Spirit that there should be great dearth throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar.'
Ephesians 4:11-12 ...'And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.'
1 Corinthians 12:28 ...'And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.'
Joel 2:28 ...'And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions.'
So would God use prophets after the time of Christ Jesus? Most definately yes.
Did Ellen White Fulfill the Marks of a Prophet?
So, was Ellen White a prophet, and did she fulfill the marks of a true prophet from the Bible? Yes, in every way. The main point that many people focus on is the one to do with visions from God and prophecies, so we will focus on that point the most. But let me confirm before we go into her visions and predictions, that Ellen White fulfilled all other points. If you read her writings, rather than take a text here and there out of context like many opposers do, you will see that Ellen White brought Glory to God and pointed the people to study the Bible first and foremost.
"The Lord desires you to study your Bibles. He has not given any additional light to take the place of His Word. This light [her own ministry] is to bring confused minds to His Word, which, if eaten and digested, is as the lifeblood of the soul." (E.G.White, Selected Messages, book 3, p. 29)
"We must gather about the cross. Christ and Him crucified should be the theme of contemplation, of conversation, and of our most joyful emotion." (E.G.White, Steps to Christ, P.103 - 104)
"Make Christ first and last and best in everything. Constantly behold Him, and your love for Him will daily become deeper and stronger as it is submitted to the test of trial." (E.G.White, Testimonies, Vol.7, P.46)
"The object of all ministry is to keep self out of sight, and to let Christ appear. The exaltation of Christ is the great truth that all who labor in word and doctrine are to reveal." (E.G.White, Manuscript Releases, Vol.16, P.295)
As you can see, Ellen White's main focus was Christ Jesus and to bring glory to God. She also devoted much writing to point out sin and proclaim God's eternal law found in the ten commandments. She spoke much about the judgments that would come upon the world. And she truly declared that Jesus Christ was fully human on earth. And what about her character? Did she live a good Christian life, in line with the Word of God? Take a look at the following comments:
"She was absolutely honest in her belief in her revelations. Her life was worthy of them. She showed no spiritual pride and she sought no filthy lucre. She lived the life and did the work of a worthy prophetess." (New York "Independent", 1915).
"Mrs. White's life far transcends the life of anyone I have ever known or with whom I have been associated. She was uniformly pleasant, cheerful and courageous. She was never careless, flippant, or in any way cheap in conversation or manner of life. She was the personification of serious earnestness regarding the things of the kingdom. I never once heard her boast of the gracious gift God had bestowed upon her, or of the marvelous results of her endeavors." (A. G. Daniells, A Co-Worker for 23 Years)
Ellen White was generous, kind, and honest. She exemplified the Christian virtues she wrote about. For instance, despite the potential of living extravagantly off the royalties of her written work, she passed much of it on to spread the gospel and further the kingdom of God. Financially supporting church projects, and helping students attend Christian schools.
And what about the effect of her writings upon those who read them with an open mind? Well, in reviewing the chief findings of the 1980 research done by the Institute of Church Ministry at Andrews University, it is noted that Seventh-day Adventists "who regularly study the writings of Ellen White are also more likely to be stronger Christians in their personal spiritual life and in their witness to their communities than those church members who don't." (Ministry, October 1982, p. 10)
Did Ellen White fulfill the marks of a true prophet? She certainly did. But we still need to take a look at her visions and predictions.
Predictions and Visions of Ellen White
Ellen White had so many visions, of which you can read about in her volumes of writings, we could not go through them here. So we will share with you some of the most extraordinary predictions and visions from this humble woman of God. But first let me clear up a common misunderstanding about Ellen White. Many people seem to believe that it was Ellen White who prophesied about Jesus returning in 1844. This is incorrect, as it was a man named William Miller who came up with this prediction from what He understood of Bible prophecy in the book of Daniel. This was concerning the 2300 day prophecy, which reveals the beginning of God's end time remnant church.
So now that is cleared up, let us take a look at Ellen White's visions and predictions. To start with, where there any clear indicators concerning Ellen White's visions that tell us they were of Divine origin? Yes there were. If you take a look at Daniel, chapter 10, you will see Daniel in vision and he says ... "neither is there breath left in me." So we could say that Daniel did not breathe while in vision. Take a look at what happened with Ellen White while in vision ...
Dr. Drummond, a local physician who had once declared her visions were the product of mesmerism, jumped at the opportunity to examine her while in vision. After giving her a thorough examination, he turned very pale and remarked, "She doesn't breathe." Skeptics would pinch both her nostrils and mouth, and even hold a mirror before her mouth while she was in vision. Both techniques proved that she simply didn't breathe while in a vision, not even when she spoke!
In another incident, a physician named Dr. Brown claimed that her visions were the product of spiritualism, and that he could control them. When the opportunity arose, Dr. Brown examined her, but before it was complete, he turned deathly pale and began to shake. "She does not breathe," he shuddered, making his way to the door. The people at the door said, "Go back, and do as you said you would; bring that woman out of vision." But the doctor, sufficiently spooked, grabbed the doorknob. "Doctor, what is it?" the people at the door persisted. "God only knows," he replied.
Let us get this one fact straight. These are eye witness accounts of what happened while Ellen White was in vision, which happened many times. And Satan DOES NOT have the power to stop someone breathing for such a long time (sometimes it was for HOURS!!) and keep them alive. This could ONLY be from God Himself.
So let's take a look at her visions and predictions.
VISION: - For a number of years, Ellen White received warnings of impending judgment upon San Francisco. But she had her final and most detailed vision regarding its destruction on April 16, 1906. She saw houses "shaken like a reed in the wind" and buildings falling to the ground. "Pleasure resorts, theaters, hotels, and homes of the wealthy were shaken and shattered. Many lives were blotted out of existence, and the air was filled with the shrieks of the injured and the terrified. The awfulness of the scenes that passed before me I cannot find words to describe." (E.G.White, Selected Messages, Book 3, P.40-41). Historical accounts reveal that two days later there was no sign of impending doom until 5:12 a.m. At that time the San Andreas fault slipped over nearly 300 miles, crumbling the very foundations of the city. In its wake, the quake left 490 city blocks in a state of total devastation and more than 227,000 homeless people, along with over 3000 dead.
VISION: - Another vison Ellen White had was concerning the civil war in America. The time she had the vision was 3 months before the civil war began, and she stated ...
"There is not a person in this house who has even dreamed of the trouble that is coming upon this land. People are making sport of the secession ordinance of South Carolina, but I have just been shown that a large number of States are going to join that State, and there will be a most terrible war. In this vision I have seen large armies of both sides gathered on the field of battle. I heard the booming of the cannon, and saw the dead and dying on every hand. Then I saw them rushing up engaged in hand-to-hand fighting [bayoneting one another]. Then I saw the field after the battle, all covered with the dead and dying. Then I was carried to prison, and saw the suffering of those in want, who were wasting away. Then I was taken to the homes of those who had lost husbands, sons, or brothers in the war. I saw there distress and anguish." ... Then she looked around the room to those who were with her and said ... "There are those in this house who will lose sons in that war." (E.G.White, Remarks at Parkville, Michigan, January 31, 1893) - General Conference Daily Bulletin., 2002, S. 37)
When Ellen White revealed this vision, the common view was that war was unlikely. And even if it came, it would be brief and result in few casualties. Yet what Ellen White said was fulfilled and extremely accurate.
VISION: - In another vision, Ellen white even foretold the two great world wars, when she said ...
"I was shown the inhabitants of the earth in the utmost confusion. There was war, bloodshed, want, privation, famine and pestilence, in the land ... My attention was then called from the scene. There seemed to be a little time of peace. Then the inhabitants of the earth were again presented before me, and everything was in the utmost confusion again. Strife, war and bloodshed, with famine and pestilence, raged everywhere. Other nations were engaged in this confusion and war. War caused famine. Want and bloodshed caused pestilence. And then men's hearts will fail them for fear, "and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth." (E.G.White, Review and Herald, August 27, 1861.)
This vision was given to Ellen white some 50 years before world war I began in 1914. And look at the striking points of her vision. First, war would rage between the "inhabitants of the earth". Then there would be a "little time of peace". Then war would rage again, with "other nations" joining the war. And that these wars would cause great bloodshed and famine.
      1. World War I (1914-1918)
      2. Little Time of Peace (1918-1939)
      3. World War II (1939-1945)
As we know, the whole world was involved in World War I and II, with a "little time of peace" in between. And the loss of life through the fighting and resultant famine was immense. With numbers up in the region of 70 million being killed by these wars. Another vision fulfilled.
      Ellen White Health Claims
Ellen White was also an inspired health advocate, and gave many predictions concerning health and the future consumption of certain foods and substances. Below we will list a few.
CLAIM: - "Tobacco is a slow, insidious, but most malignant poison. In whatever form it is used, it tells upon the constitution; it is all the more dangerous because its effects are slow and at first hardly perceptible. It excites and then paralyzes the nerves. It weakens and clouds the brain. Often it affects the nerves in a more powerful manner than does intoxicating drink. It is more subtle, and its effects are difficult to eradicate from the system. Its use excites a thirst for strong drink and in many cases lays the foundation for the liquor habit." (E.G.White, Ministry of Healing, P.327)
Now you may look at this and think, "BIG DEAL!!, we all know smoking is bad for you!". But you need to take into account that Ellen White made this inspired claim in the 1860's, when cigar smoking was in fact prescribed to people for "HEALTH BENEFITS", and it wasn't until 1957 that the American Cancer Society concluded that smoking was a CONTRIBUTOR in causing lung cancer.
Please remember as you read through this that Ellen White did not receive a "formal education" and was forced to leave school before she was a teenager."
CLAIM: - Ellen White claimed that cancer was a "germ" and that it was due to poor diet, eating things like animal flesh that was becoming more and more diseased ... "If meat eating was ever healthful, it is not safe now. Cancers, tumors, and pulmonary diseases are largely caused by meat eating." (E.G.White, Counsels on Health, P.133). Now it wasn't until 1956 that the "germ" theory had been proven by Dr. Wendell Stanley, a Virologist at the University of California. And today, any health expert who truly cares about what people eat will tell you that the majority of animals are now either diseased or so full of steroids and drugs, that the meat is not safe to eat anymore.
"Worldly physicians cannot account for the rapid increase of disease among the human family. But we know that much of this suffering is caused by the eating of dead flesh." (E.G.White, Counsels on Diets and Foods, P.386)
CLAIM: - "The light given me is that it will not be very long before we shall have to give up any animal food. Even milk will have to be discarded. Disease is accumulating rapidly. The curse of God is upon the earth, because man has cursed it." (E.G.White, Counsels on Diet and Foods, P.357, (1899)
And we can now thank a Physician by the name of Robert Cohen, amongst others, for giving us the facts about milk (Not Milk). Confirming the claim that Ellen White made all those years ago. Take a look at what Robert Cohen says about Ellen White. And just to confirm, Robert Cohen is not a Seventh Day Adventist.
"I have the advantage of citing scientific studies from peer-reviewed studies to work into my daily columns. Ellen G. White just "knew" milk did not do the body any good. Her visions were divinely inspired." (Robert Cohen, notmilk.com)
"Through a 70-year writing and speaking career, Ellen White spoke about clarity. How beautifully we can combine her religious insights with today's scientific evidence. We know that milk protein, casein, triggers the production of histamines. After eating cheese or ice cream, one manufactures mucus, and plenty of it. The kidneys, pancreas, lungs, thymus--all fill with viscous mucus. Collectively, the human body and organs become congested with 3-4 quarts of mucus which result in an "internal fog." (Robert Cohen, notmilk.com)
CLAIM: - "Grains, fruits, nuts, and vegetables constitute the diet chosen for us by our Creator. These foods, prepared in as simple and natural a manner as possible, are the most healthful and nourishing. They impart a strength, a power of endurance, and a vigor of intellect, that are not afforded by a more complex and stimulating diet." (E.G.White, Counsels on Diet and Foods, P.81)
Again, this claim does not seem that impressive today. But it is only recently that the world has discovered the benefits of eating natural foods like fruit, vegetables and grains etc. And secular studies have proven that people who live on a vegetarian or vegan diet tend to live at least 10 years longer than those who eat meat and dairy products. And notice that Ellen White also says that we should prepare these foods in as NATURAL a way as possible. Meaning do not destroy the goodness in them by cooking and processing them to death. Again, health experts today who are worth their salt will tell you that the more natural the state of the product (uncooked and unprocessed), the better it is for you.
      Conclusion
There can be no doubt to any mind that is open to see the truth that Ellen White was a messenger of God and a true prophet. Contrary to all modern "prophets" who give their "best predictions" every January, or the perennial Nostradamuses who state their predictions so vaguely that they can be reinterpreted and made to fit as time passes. Ellen White's visions, claims and previews of closing events have never been contradicted by events. Today's economic insecurity, political strife, social unrest, decline in moral values, New Age revival of spiritualism, and the worldwide interest in religious unity, are an astonishing fulfillment of her predictions.
Her health claims given over 100 years ago are on par with those given by experts today who have access to huge amounts of research. And her predictions that have not yet been fulfilled, we can now see are beginning to happen. The Sunday Law being one of them. Was Ellen White a prophet of God? The proof is in, and there can be no doubt. Ellen White was a true prophet.
Please note, you will come across websites that attack Ellen White. There you will find quotes that have been taken completely out of context and twisted to suit their preconceived attacks. Please do not be deceived by these websites. Please see the below 3 websites which deal with in great detail the attacks and misconceptions about Ellen White:
Ellen White Defend Ellen White Info Ellen White Issues
"The weight of evidence points decisively to the trustworthiness of Ellen White's twin witness - her life and ministry. The integrity of her character was recognized by contemporaries, whether Adventists or not. The intense focus of her ministry in revealing the charm, reality, and power of Jesus was recognized by those within and without her church. Any attempt to accept either her life without her ministry, or her ministry without her life, seems irrational. As Edward Heppenstall put it: "It is impossible to place a high value upon her life and character and a low value upon her writings." (WhiteEstate.org)

okay here is a pop quiz
      William Miller
In the early 1800s, a young Baptist farmer named William Miller (1782-1849) published a series of articles in the Baptist weekly Vermont Telegraph about the prophecies of Daniel. He used a simple set of rules to unravel the great themes of prophecy:

      William Miller.
      ...

The New Testament is the expositor of the Old Testament
Scripture must be its own expositor
The symbolism of type and anti type
Every word must be taken into consideration
      Prophecy compliments prophecy
Miller's study of Daniel 8 led him to believe that the cleansing of the sanctuary, which was to take place at the end of the 2300-year period (Daniel 8:14), referred to the cleansing of the earth from sin. He concluded that this meant Christ would return at that time.
Miller was just beginning to understand the sanctuary message, and misunderstood its connection to the 2300-day prophecy. He believed that the cleansing of the sanctuary meant the cleansing of the earthly sanctuary-the cleansing of the Church at the return of Christ. However, the sanctuary referred to here is instead the heavenly sanctuary.
Using the day-year principle, he at first calculated that Christ would return in 1843. He believed the “spiritual sanctuary,” the Church, would be cleansed at that time.
Miller rejected the popular interpretations of the day such as futurism, preterism, and dispensationalism. He stressed the pre-millennial return of Christ, and reintroduced the old Protestant, Christ-centered interpretation, which saw the followers of Jesus at the heart of the end-time prophecies. And even though Scripture tells us that we cannot know the hour of Christ's return (see Matthew 24:36 and Luke 12:40), Miller eventually set a definite date for this event: October 22, 1844.i
      The Great Disappointment
Miller, together with some 100,000 others were expelled from their churches for their beliefs. These believers in the soon advent of Christ came from all denominations, and included at least 200 ministers from prominent Protestant churches.
Drawing from the parable of the ten virgins, Miller's message became known as the “midnight cry," the return of the bridegroom. There was a return to primitive godliness, as the various groups of believers awaited the return of the Lord.
As we know, Jesus did not return to this earth in 1844. Those that eagerly awaited His return were devastated, and the day became known as the Great Disappointment. Many were disillusioned and left the movement. Those that remained were ridiculed and became objects of scorn.
      Rediscovering the Truth
Centuries before the Great Disappointment, the Church experienced a similar disappointment. The followers of Christ had awaited His coronation as the Messiah in Jerusalem. They had hailed Him as their King and thrown palm branches before His feet (John 12:12-13). But instead of a coronation, they had to witness a crucifixion. Their disappointment was real, and many lost their faith. Even the disciples were filled with fear and hid themselves “for fear of the Jews” (John 20:19).
Two followers of Jesus were contemplating His death when Jesus Himself joined them and, "beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself" (Luke 24:27 NKJV).
Similarly, the Great Disappointment of 1844 led to ardent study of the Scriptures and the truths uncovered by the Reformation. Those who remained in the Advent movement after 1844 considered themselves “the remnant.” The prophecies of Daniel were reexamined and a number of believers discovered that the books of Hebrews and Revelation are full of references to a sanctuary in heaven-the very topic of Daniel's sealed prophecy in Daniel 8.
They rediscovered the great doctrine of the sanctuary. The role of Jesus as our sacrificial lamb and high priest in heaven were understood in the correct context. The typology of the Jewish feasts and their meaning and fulfillment were also uncovered.
Along with this breakthrough in understanding came the realization of what the ancient Day of Atonement symbolized, and what its relevance was in terms of the cleansing of the heavenly sanctuary or the judgment in heaven. The standard of judgment-the law-and its significance was also understood in its relationship to the plan of salvation. The truths that had served as a guard against evil were being rebuilt, as Isaiah had prophesied.
The law and the Sabbath were rediscovered, as was the correct relationship between the law and grace. The commandments of God and faith in Jesus Christ became pillars on which the faith of the remnant rested, fulfilling Revelation 12:17's description of the last generation of believers before the return of Christ:
And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
      The Birth of Adventism
Out of the ashes of the Millerite movement grew the Seventh-day Adventist Church. They adopted, coordinated, and continued reforms that had been lost since the Reformation. These doctrines were grounded on Scriptural teaching about the following concepts:
      The Second Coming of Christ
The binding claims of the Seventh-day Sabbath
The Third Angel’s Message in relation to the First and Second Angels' Messages
The ministry of Christ in the heavenly sanctuary
      The non-immortality of the soul

@FatTonyAU Its funny you say that, because when I read the sermon on the mount, I don't find Jesus telling every one that they are saved by Grace alone. Instead I find him saying "Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commands and teaches men so shall be called least in the kingdom...and therefore whoever does and teaches men so shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven." Could it be that Christians today have erected a false standard from twisting Paul's words?

B = 2 A = 1 H = 5 A = 1 and 1 + 2 + 5 + 1 = 9 . The word "Baha" means Glory. The year 1260 equals the year of Glory (of God), which in the Christian calendar equals 1844

May 23, 1844, in Elam, the Bab declared Himself to be the Promised One. Jeremiah 49:38 said "The Lord shall set His throne in Elam." This is where Daniel's visions took place. The Bab (Gate) was killed July 9, 1850 by a firing squad of 750 Muslim soldiers. He spoke of "Him Whom God shall make manifest." This is Baha'u'llah (Glory of God), imprisoned and exiled for 40 years, from Persia to Iraq, Constantinople, Adrainople, to Akka, in Israel. His followers still imprisoned, killed in Iran.

William millers calculation was right, the only thing wrong was they were waiting for him to come from the clouds which was wrong , people need to remember how he first came, through the mothers womb not from the sky and he even said himself in the bible he is going to come back in a different name .1844 baha'u'llah was born , the Baha'i faith teaches human oneness, human equality and world peace ,Jesus was getting the world ready for baha'u'llah the second coming.. If you are wise and open minded do some research this will answer all your questions.

The lowest common denominations are all blind faith driven subjective thinkers. They'll look for anything they can to help them see what they want to see, despite something that proves them wrong. Most of the population of the world wants to believe what makes them feel best. The feeling is the fact to them, and that is often decided by how they were raised, or some personal encounter they once experienced. So the brain will always see what it wants to see when subjective thinking is the ruling force behind their decisions and conclusions. Any "group" that draws conclusions on blind faith is a cult. And most of them will try to kill you if you ever start talking about facts and evidence. Every lowest common denomination wants to live in a world of feelings and emotions and they want to believe so badly in whatever cult they choose, that they are willing to abondon logic and reason to uphold it. And they will believe without knowing and know without believing. They will see what they want to see even though there is little to no evidence for what they choose to believe in. Their lives, their emotions, their behavior and everything they build on, adds to the power of the delusion and it is practically impossible for them to get out of the delusion once they have gone into it. God gives them over to a strong delusion because if their subjective mind state. He gives us free choice and if we live our lives subject to our feelings and emotions instead of facts and evidence, out faith is blind and it isn't faith at all. It is fake and counterfeit, it is of the Antichrist.

These prophecies were "sealed" to Daniel until the time of the end. Jesus said, "No man knoweth the hour, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son"
The prophecies of Revelation, too, were sealed from John.
The end of the 7 times of Leviticus 2520 years ended in 1844.
The end of the 3 1/2 times of Daniel, 1260 years, ended in 1844.
    The 42 months (x 30) = 1260, or 1844.
The Muslim calendar year of 1260 AH equals 1844 AD.
All of the times prophecies are agreed to have ended in 1844...

Less than 1% of the entire planet had heard of William Miller's predictions by the time the failed event failed to happen. (And you are right, mostly white people heard it.)
How could the early SDAs really think that everyone else was lost (via their Shut Door doctrine), when 99% of the world had never even heard their false message?
These people were completely deluded, so sure that their calculations were correct.
Now, SDAs can safely hide behind the Investigative judgement, since this event is impossible to prove or disprove, for it supposedly occurred in the invisible heavenly realm.

They were all right the end will come on day, but Jesus left us a little indicator as to those who will be shown saving grace at that time, Matt 5: only those who have chosen to be mercifull will be the ones shown mercy at that time.
We each must search our hearts for extent we willing to extend that mercy. and I believe Ellen White was right, we should be mercifull toward animals as well.
Please pray this day for all the chickens in battery cages and pigs in hell holes.

Greetings , i would be very much
interested in your opinion, and the opinion of others regarding the
two central theological ideas in the Adventist movement, that is
interpretation of Daniel 8:13-14, and Leviticus 16:5 Day of
    Atonement.
Is it possible that the typology of
Leviticus 16:5 represents Esau, Jacob, and Isaac? and by further
extension represents Christians and Jews, and Jesus.
Esau is the goat for the Lord, Jacob is
the scapegoat, and Isaac the ram, and all three represent Jesus in
the triune atoning sacrifice for our sins.
This idea is based on the Hebrew word
"saw-eer" used in Lev 16:5, this word is first used in
Genesis ch 27, where Esau is "saw-eer", and Jacob becomes
"saw-eer azazel", when Rebekah places the skin of the goat
on him and he is told to escape to Laban.
    The Hebrew word "azazel" also
means strong one against God, or God fighter, as does the name Israel
    given to Jacob.
Day of Atonement is also the Day of
Reconciliation, pointing to the prophetic reconciliation between
members of the Biblical family, Christians, Jews, and Jesus. Malachi
4:4-6. Ellen White in her unusual statement on the scapegoat confirms
    this typology.
For this to make sense in the context
of Seventh Day Adventist theology we have to re-assign to the three
key words in Daniel 13-14 the following translation: "Unto 2300
years and the perpetual Sabbath will return to the Law of the
    Sanctuary the Christian Church.
The word " KODESH is first used in
Gen 2:3 for the Sabbath, so it means seventh day Sabbath.
    TAWMEED means perpetual, Joseph Bates
wrote a book called Perpetual Sabbath.
TSADAQ means to restore to the the Law,
so the meaning is that New Testament Sanctuary the Christian Church
will be cleansed by restoration of the Biblical Decalogue.
Hiriam Edson's vision in the cornfield
was about the Sabbath, see Mathew ch 12 where Jesus in the cornfield
is master of the Sabbath, this was confirmed by Ellen White's vision
of the 10 Commandments with the Sabbath underlined. Uniqueness of
S.D.A. Sabbath theology is the synthesis of Daniel 13-14 and
Leviticus ch 16:5. This synthesis enables fulfilment of Malachi
4:4-6, the reconciliation in the Biblical family. Seventh Day
Adventist movement was prophetically called to participate in this
mission of reconciliation. What do you think? Please comment, thank
    you.

"What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?
Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?
Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life." Rom 6:1-4

This is the outcome of those who don't understanding the bible. "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father." - Matthew 24:36 NLT
Yet from that day until this, people have been sorely disappointed as they set a specific year, month, and day to Christ's return.
While we may know the "season", no where in scripture does it get anymore specific.
Stay close to Jesus toady, for today you may die, and then your probation will end.

Though they will in all likelihood edit the history to give EGW a positive seer status but nevertheless it will be interesting. We can only hope they will put in the historical facts such as the suicides, the people who starved themselves and their children because they sold everything and gave their money to the date setting movement. I don't think of myself as an 'Adventist' as a denominational label... I think of myself as a SINNER who is SEEKING Jesus daily... and I believe that the Seventh-day Adventist church is correct in their keeping of the fourth commandment of the Bible--that doesn't mean that I am legalistic or judgmental towards others...

2300 - 456 =1844 AD = 1260 AH = 42 months x 30 = 1260 = Time (360) + Times (720) + 1/2 Time (180) = 1260. Interestingly, Jeremiah says: "The Lord shall set His throne in Elam", or SW Iran, where Daniel had his great vision. In fact, a Holy One appeared in Elam in 1844 and was executed in 1850. He was called the Bab, or Gate, and foretold the coming of Baha'u'llah, Glory of God, in 1863 AD = 1280 AH, which is also = to 1290 from inception of the visitation of Gabriel to Muhammad...

The magi knew when to be on the move because they saw the star in the east or rise in the east. Hmm. For those who don't know due east rises when the sun is at the point known as the vernal or autumnal equinox. East is the area of the sky that the ecliptic and celestial equator meet. That is due east exactly no matter where you view it on the face of the earth. That point in the sky is on the move and is astronomically known as the precession of the equinox, It moves ever so slowly by one degree every 70 to 72 years. It doesn't move in a straight line across the sky but oscillates at the wavelength of a Meton cycle, that is an eclipse cycle of 18 years. Push the procession of the equinox or that point that is EAST up to the only regal star on the ecliptic. That star is Regulus and is a regal star described in star lore, by most cultures on the face of the earth. Regulus is at the heart of the constellation Leo, the roaring lion. This lion in Hebrew is called Ari, the lion that shall render its prey (The serpent) to pieces. When the autumnal equinox greets the star Regulus something fascinating happens.
One might perceive the Revelation 12 sign in September 2017 was fascinating and important it was, for now, people are looking up. Well, go east in your Stellarium star finder program and wow, have look at that when it reaches Regulus. Then get your calculator and the event in the fall of 1843 to what is viewed on your screen when you go EAST. The difference is 2300 year-ending event. Ethelbert Bullinger has a chapter on the star-lore of the constellation Leo, Hydra the serpent, Corvus the crow latched onto the serpent and lastly the constellation Crater pouring out the wrath of judgement onto the serpent. His book Witness of the Stars ends the story at the roaring lion. Truth be known as the 18th-century Swiss astronomer discovered that the 2300 years is a perfect solar-lunar eclipse cycle. Truth be known as the 18th-century Swiss astronomer discovered that the 2300 years is a perfect solar-lunar eclipse cycle. Unknown to Jean-Philippe Loys de Chéseaux (His findings are translated from the French to English by Henry Gratten Guinness, an astronomer and preacher of the Word) that the event when the EAST falls right onto this majestic regal star Regulus, a star that makes up the so-called sickle asterism in the sky (Seen on most planispheres). You come to 2307 years from the last 2300 year solar-lunar eclipse cycle of 1843, which found its stopwatch count at the decree to restore Jerusalem by Artaxerxes Longimanus, the Persian king. That event in 1843 was known as the 'Great Disappointment'.
Why the seven years tucked away at the end, grief, many dispensationalists with rapture in mind speak of a seven-year event at the end. Well, what I've mentioned above, you are staring at it. Go east and you encounter something glorious, of the orbs and their dance together except for one with its massive rings in folklore and star lore saw as the devil. Ever wonder why old Christian and Jewish cemeteries have plots with an east-west direction, it is because of the belief in the resurrection of the dead to greet the Lord who will come from the EAST in glory. The other noteworthy observation, when east finds its place at the heart of the lion, that is this bright star Regulus, all the other cardinal points of the solstices and equinoxes fall in their place reflecting Taurus the BULL, Leo the LION, Aquarius the MAN and Scorpio the EAGLE (there was a time this asterism of stars was known to be an eagle in the sky, but I need a citation here). As if mirroring the four living creatures of Revelation and Ezekiel. For the believer, they are not people of the darkness, but of the light, that this should escape their understanding. Again go east as did the Magi.

@@robertcrusader5019 yes they did. They wanted to crown him king even by force. See John 6:14-15. As they approached Jerusalem "they thought the kingdom of God would appear immediately" (Luke 19:11). On Palm Sunday He entered Jerusalem and the crowds together with the disciples shouted "Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord. The king of Israel!" (John 12:12-13, Luke 19:38, Mark 11:9) Even after the resurrection the erroneous ideas of an earthly kingdom remained (see Acts 1:6). This, inspite the fact that Jesus had taught them: "The kingdom of God does not come with observation; nor will they say, 'See here!' or 'See there!' For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you." (Luke 17:20-21)
The disciple's hope was utterly crushed after the crucifixion. They thought the message preached was wrong. But it was their understanding of that message that was wrong. The prophecy had been fulfilled but they had misunderstood the meaning of the text. The same thing happened with Miller. They preached that the judgment would begin in 1844, that the antitypical Day of Atonement would take place then and the sanctuary be cleansed. They preached this with power. They also believed that this meant that Jesus would return because they had misunderstood what the sanctuary was in Daniel 8:14. Only after the disappointment did they understand what the Bible teaches about this. And this was by the way also predicted to happen in Revelation 10.

If only they looked to the East. Not only Cristians were looking, but Muslims too. How foolish people are to think that Christ would appear everywhere in a physical form. Christ has appeared many times from age to age as mankind falls back into spiritual degradation a new Christ is born. Abraham, Buddha, Moses, Krishna, Muhammad all shared the same Spirit, and mankind could only reach God through them. All the Millers needed to do was to look towards the East, across the ocean to another place where where that same Spirit was born in the person of The Bab, meaning The Gate who appeared for the sole purpose of preparing the world for the coming of Baha’u’llah which means the Glory of God in English. It began the Baha’i Faith, which today is one of the fastest growing religions and one of the most wide spread in the world. What harm is there to investigate?

your are hung up on timelines, it cannot be explained in chatrooms, the medium is textual. but death of Christ is a point in time and a benchmark for God and man alike. How you want to measure is your problem, not mine. I would presume millerites din't care much either. for I believe the work of the Father, son and holy ghost will not be wasted and will be done on time, as revealed to Daniel and John. William Miller as master chefs would say "its spot on". the calendar makes no difference to me, just periods. periods of change

    • @Zhuellor
      @Zhuellor 9 років тому

eric david You miss the point that I am pointing out to you. I am not "hung" on anything except accuracy. God is exact in His timelines and if a group such like the SDA desire to teach truth then they should be teaching accurate truth, otherwise they are no different than all other denominations that preach truth mixed with error. I too believe the works of God and I too know what is coming on the earth thanks to Gods' truth which is always accurate and is always within the timeline that He meant it to be. Maybe it does not matter to you but if you understood what many SDA preachers are teaching and how each one has a different take on end time events now you would realize that NO DENOMINATION is the true church. Only individuals that are truly faithful to God and trusting in Jesus the Lord for their salvation, those across the globe make up the the body of the true church.
