Look at this happy fella with cars in his garage and using a power washer inside (because he can!). Melissa looks happier too!! You guys did it! Just awesome!
I think this garage is good for you because as you get frustrated with one vehicle you can switch to another. I do that with craft projects. Love sharing the adventures!!
I watch many sewing videos and one I watch always makes sure to have projects in different stages. One that needs drafting, one that needs cutting, some that needs draping, or hand stitching etc. So depending on if you can handle something fiddly or some big long cuts or brain work etc, you never stop working when you hit a wall with a project.
Well, you hit the mark twice for me here! I was 7 when My Mother the Car premiered - and I loved it! I was a big Jerry van Dyke fan even back then. And then you followed it up with the car of my youth- the Nash Metropolitan! We actually moved from Montreal to Toronto - Mom (6 months pregnant), Dad, three kids under 6 and Daisy Beagle- in 1961. We had the salmon coloured one. And my father was 6'3", so it was a tight squeeze! Thanks for the memory jog!
The thumbnail was perfect. That's the cutest little car and the blue and white colors appear to match your house. Hope you keep this little gem for awhile.
That garage is looking pretty darned lived in..you are looking absolutely relaxed and happy Alexander.. can't wait to see what the next adventure brings..
Good Morning Alex…you can always change the name of your channel to Curiosity & Cars..:) We have always had old cars, 1964 Ford Econoline, 1969 VW bug, and 1963 Ford Falcon…Cars were built so solid back then. Have a wonderful day!
Hey I watched My Mother The Car back in the '60s when it was on the air! And in this age of $2/L gasoline that Metropolitan is a much better choice than the Plymouth wagon! *LOL*
Thanks for the memory. My Mother had a Nash Metropolitan, not sure of the year. My Father was a car painter so the car was two tone green, light green top and darker green bottom. Both of them loved driving 'Speedy'. At the time my Father had a 1959 black Chevrolet (first one with the wings, don't remeber the model). I got my license in 1962 and drove both cars, but my fav was 'Speedy'. Dad was a bit like you and we had lots of cars around all the time, mostly from the 30's, 40's and 50's.
That’s interesting about why you guys call it a “trunk” at the back of a car, it makes sense! But now I can’t help wondering if here in the uk, they used to actually have a boot strapped to the back end hahaha. (Hood and Bonnet are not so different, both being types of hats for the engine but I always wondered about trunk and boot)
The word "boot"(which is commonly used by the English), goes back to 18th century horse-drawn carriages where the coachman sat on a chest, which was used to store, among other things, his boots. This storage space came to be termed as the "boot locker", which soon became the "boot".
Oh, I love them!! They are so adorable 😄❤️ We also have a car meet here in my town this weekend. It used to be the biggest meet in Europe, but they splitted the meet to two ones. The other is more down south in Sweden. It's the best time of the summer 😊 I just love classic cars, especially the American ones. We call them jänkare (yankees) here in Sweden. My last classic car was a Rambler American 220 1967 with a 196 straight six cylinders motor. I know you know, but for them who don't- Nash became AMC Rambler (Hudson as well). So the little Metropolitan is an "ancestor" to the car I had 😄
I have a lifelong obsession with cute weird little cars. I drove VW Karmann Ghias exclusively until I was 33 (had a baby). That adorable Metropolitan has stolen my heart.
When I was a kid, a neighbor had a Metropolitan; it was big enough for her, her child and the groceries. That's why her husband bought it for her, so she could get around and it was economical. I remember it was pink and white -- cutest little car ever!
When I was a child in the 1960's there was a tall skinny man who used to drive a little bitty pink and white Nash just like your new blue Nash. The man stopped at a house near the bus stop to pick up a bigger lady and we kids got such a kick out of watching them fold themselves into the little car and drive away. Made for a fun school year. I have only seen this particular car model a couple of times over the years and never knew what it was until today. Thanks for sharing!!!
Beautiful little car. I'm happy you got rid of the vws and wagon. I can remember being a little boy riding in my neighbors Nash and they purchased 50 cents of gas..lol
I was born in '53. I saw one of those Nash Metro's on the road when I was about 4, and I remember seeing it to this day-It was so unlike anything else on the road at that time, so it must have made an indelible impression on me then.
Created in 1954, small and hopefully still cute, needs a bit of a polish but basically runs fine. Yup that's me !! Thanks Alexander , a flashback to my dad , uncles and grandad, who were all into old cars , grew up with them all over the back yards. Great feel good summer video. Thanks for every you do !!
My best friend had two of these when we were in high school. One was yellow and one was blue. They weren’t considered “cool” back in 1969. But we loved it and took it all over the state of Florida. East coast surfer girls and a good solid school ride her dad bought for us.🫢😃Good Memories.
That little car is really cute! I am cringing a little seeing you hosing off the engine in that beautiful garage though. I know you probably know this, but please be careful not to put oil/gasoline/grease down the septic system. Same with kitchen waste. It could cost a lot of money if you have to have the tank pumped and cleaned. A gallon of spoiled butter milk down the drain once a month will keep the little critters healthy. I had to learn septic system care 14 yes ago when I moved to rural Arizona. 😂
Love the Metro, my Mom had when hen I was growing up.. lots of memories flooding in.. I remember one time Mom got stuck in a ditch, a couple of the neighbor men came out and lifted it out and back on the road... Thank you for helping me to recall some great memories.
I’m drooling right now! Gorgeous Cars! I love Provenance! It makes a tiny piece of paper worth millions when you know the authentic story behind it! Thank you!
So happy for you, Alex! So happy you and Melissa were able to make your dreams come true with the new house, the large garage for your cars, and your going full time on UA-cam. May God continue to bless you and your family. Love your channel, and have been watching since before the Potter’s house.

The fuel pump problem could be mechanical linkage to the engine shaft. Forming the paddle only a wee bit closer to the shaft will sometimes fix that. Run your fingers over it to see if that will work on your engine.
My dad bought that exact same car in about 1959 when I was in high school ; I learned how to drive a stick shift in it. I loved that little Deedle Bop as we called it!
What a little beauty. I don't mind if you sell that Daimler on, especially if you've lost interest. Just more space for other cool things, right? ;-) Can't wait to see a grass and garden update either. Even if small differences. It is just satisfying to see the grass and trees do well :)
My bf has a big rust bucket he wants to work on when he retires. It’s his dad’s old truck. But he has to build our dream home first. I’m going to show him your house and your cars. I think he’ll like it‼️👍
Back in the day there was a really neat song that came out about a Little Nash Rambler chasing a Cadillac and he keeps honking his horn :beep beep" check you tube. As a child I loved that song. Those cars were so cool. The first of the compacts that started a craze. That's a gorgeous little car!
I couldn’t agree w/you more! My grandfather bought and rebuilt one in the 80’s. I loved the car so much but he gave it my cousin and she wrecked it!😢 He got it back from them and fixed it, then GAVE IT BACK to her!! I was so mad that he didn’t give it to me! I helped my Dad rebuild and restore a Nash Metropolitan in the 80's. I was two tone yellow & white. We drove it to a Fourth of July parade in Kansas from Colorado Springs, with my brother & I in the back seat and both my parents in the front. My Dad was also 6'2" tall. Oh and no air conditioning!
Oh my. Memories. My girlfriend who later became my sister-in-law had a Nash metropolitan and we used to drive it to work which was fun because the brakes didn’t work and driving up hills was almost impossible lol. Fun times

My next door neighbor in 1962, a petite nurse, drove one to work everyday for about a decade.
I remember that show! Jerry van dyke!
I was about ten and enjoyed “my mother the car”.
