Hello Everyone! Here is a video about "all" the Deleted Scenes or Unuesed Footage of the Hobbit Trilogy; An Unexpected Journey, The Desolation of Smaug and The Battle of the Five Armies.
By the Unexpected Journey I only found the unused scenes we could see in the trailers of the first Hobbit movie.
In The Desolation of Smaug, I found much more deleted scenes, from the Appendices of the Extended Edition of The Desolation of Smaug. We have scenes like the Deleted Cameo of Peter Jackson, more scenes in Lake Town, more scenes of Erebor, more barrel shots and much more!
In The Battle of the Five Armies I also found some cool scenes. We have more scenes of Smaug attacking Lake Town, more action scenes with Beorn, killing orcs, and a TROLL!!! Then we have more action scenes with Thranduil, more battle scenes, and much more!

They should have never, never, never deleted the scenes of Beorn fighting as a bear. That would have been soooo sweet to see!
GrowLLLTigeRRR Instead we got it for like two minutes.
To this day, I still believe someone in the studio was in debt with alfrid's actor... that's the only reason why he would get SO much screen time.. Too much for a side character that is not even likable.. Feels like they had to do it to justify his pay..
They put Alfrid's useless scenes instead. Dumbs
would still have been a shit movie
they did it because the actor got caught buying drugs
If they would have added these extra 15 mins of scenes the trilogy would have been sooo much better! The elves talking, Thranduil finally getting his gems from Bilbo like in the book, Gandalf's speech, Gandalf finding the Palantir, Bilbo planting the acorn, ALL Beorn scenes especially fighting the troll, more Smaug destroying Laketown and the bridge, and showing Saruman actually becoming evil. They were really inconsistent with some of the side plots through both the theatrical and extended versions... annoying but no matter what LOTR and Hobbit fan for life!!!
I too didn't, where is it?
At least they could put all these deleted and unfinshed scenes in the Extended cut.
I would have loved to see Thranduil getting his gems from Bilbo.
100% agree. While I love all things Tolkien, and that includes the Hobbit movies of course, some of the choices regarding what got cut still irk me.
I just don't like the one with the acorn... Because he told Throne that he would plant them in the shire
Deleting any scenes with Legolas or Thranduil was criminal.
Anyone still watching LOTR and Hobbit trilogy regularly like me? 2018
Always. Love these movies, the purists can have their books, I’ll take the books AND the movies and have twice as much to love :D
psy-kylo-gy I love both as well. I have a nice collection going but my movies have worn out and been replaces multiple times cus they play many days a week in my place.. we just rotate a LOT lol
YUP
2019.
Get on my level try 2019
Honestly, Bilbo's mini-panic attack is actually amazing
i just come to see more of Thranduil because why not
Same fcjjffj
I think Thorin, Kili, and Fili's funeral would've made the film a little better
It was included in the Extended Edition of Battle of Five Armies, and to this day that's the only version of that film I will watch.
@@mr.president8862 version, once you've seen the extended you wouldn't watch the other, but even on the extended they could of added more on the funeral part.. but it was good 👍
@@user-pr9kx2um8x Have them all in extended versions. Both in blu-ray and in 4k so I’m good. Just pointing out that the movies are tremendous.
@@user-pr9kx2um8x You should have seen Lord of the Rings in 4k, that’s an improvement right there. You should buy them👍
Yes
I don’t understand why they didn’t include Thranduil’s action sequences. They would have been spectacular.
IMO, You simply can't have "too much" Thranduil. All of that fake looking CGI with Legolas fighting "Pinhead" on Ravenhill could have been cut. And sooo wish they'd have filmed the funeral episode by the book, where Thranduil forgave all, and placed Orchist on Thorin's grave. And of course, got the green gems from Bard and the gems of Lasgalen from Bilbo after. Would have tied everything together nicely.
*Because he's a king, not a freaking ninja warrior.*
@@kazikmajster5650 have you seen Legolas fight? So his dad would have skills probably better than that of a ninja warrior..
@@jadevanvoss2399 *I have READ about Legolas fighting and it was nothing like that.*
@@kazikmajster5650 not talking about the books, I'm talking about the movies... I'm just pointing out that Legolas had amazing action scenes in the movies so including Thranduil's action scenes would have also been amazing..
when i see all these greenscreens i fell bad for actors, it has to be hard to stay in the role around nothin but greenness
I looked at all those green from a video and got a little bit of headache. Can't imagine what it feels like to stand there, doing takes for hours. Must be sickening.
No wonder many actors have openly expressed dislikes about CGI and green screen.
At the same time so many of these people do stage and that’s what you have on stage every night a few props and changing backgrounds
I think the greenness helps them actually, the greenness of their pockets afterwards
Ian cried on the set of the Hobbit while doing the Bad End dinner scene because he missed how it was done in the Fellowship.
@@D0omscream and then said he had to watch the Beorn actor go through the same thing but handle it better. That’s not saying it’s not hard to act opposite green screen

Gandalf: Germs is not only what your wife left you...she left you a son...what would she value more?....
Should have kept this in, now it looks like Thranduil is some mean greedy basterd. While in reality he was in search of a mémoire of his passed wife, but not realised it was infront of him (Legolas) the whole time...that last look made him realize that.
Should have left that in.
It really should have been left in :(
Working in a two film fan edit and attempting my best to reintegrate that into the film
Germs. 😂
@@DanceySteveYNWA i thought i was the only one that noticed that LOL
@@christopherbuckley5929 Ay! me too! It works well when integrated with the scene Thranduil looks over his dead soldiers, then cutting straight to Thranduil with his head down (When he's sad Legolas took tauriel's side), and then it goes to Gandalf. At least this is how i went about it.
How did you handle it?
It wouldn't have fit given the urgent deadline they had, but I like that scene of the Dwarves and Bilbo walking through Dale at 7:26. We could have seen how some of the other Dwarves felt about returning to Erebor. A similar scene inside Erebor would have been even better for them. They were all but forgotten in BOFA. Also sad at the loss of additional Beorn scenes (12:06) and the scene of Dwalin trying to save Thorin (13:33). So much emotion and epicness cut out, and what in return? Alfrid. :|
Check out weta workshop website.. The middle earth content.. They show a lot of concept art for weapons, armor, and scenery that didnt make it into the hobbit films.. The dwarf army could have been the most glorious army ever depicted in the history of movies.. These films had a huge potential to be even more epic than LOTR.. That's what everyone involved on the artistic/design side of things was aiming for.. If only the producers had taken their time, but they just rushed everything and ruined it
Only Balin and Thorin had ever been to erebor
10:22 More scenes with Thranduil fighting!!
they should edit more Thranduil fighting scene that is really cool just like the elf in the first age very powerful and good fighting
0:41 i'm glad that they have not used this one LOL
XD
Yep I had a feeling that there would be some deleted scenes in The Hobbit movies.
To be honest I wish they kept the scenes of Thrunduil and Beorn fighting in the third movie instead of focusing on the unnecessary fan service love triangle.
I think *everybody* except the studio executives wish that they kept the scenes of Thranduil and Beorn and got rid of Turiel!
Apparently the studio pushed hard against Jackson focusing on Dwarves other than Thorin and his nephews (including the love triangle that they insisted on inserting, Legolas was not meant to have any feelings for Tauriel beyond brotherly love). Jackson definitely made some mistakes of his own, but I think these scenes give a glimpse of some of the good ideas he had that may have been vetoed. The Dwarves singing in their cells with Dori putting his arm around Ori, the reactions of the Dwarves to the ruin of Dale (especially Bifur the toy-maker's obvious grief at seeing a charred doll and the fate it implies for its young owner...), the acorn, the longer funeral oration for Thorin and the sons of Dís. All moments that add to the world and characters.
It makes me so sad... for the dwarves and the men who were cast to play them. I never even knew Bofur was a toy maker. 😞
I feel like the elven scenes were deleted more then the other groups. Time wise maybe. Which is sad bc I love the elves, especially Mirkwood elves!
It could just be me though. I didn't actually count the time but I just feel like the elves didn't get much time as they shouldve
+Xiaann Fu Agreed.. even in Lord of the Rings especially the battle of Helms Deep.
I like mirkwood elves but I hate thranduil
Schnittwin Thanks alot man :)
I love mirkwood elves too
If you read the "Chronicles" series of books which detail the making of the film, there is a ton of concept art and reveals many sequences that were deleted.
For example, we see at 8:38 Gandalf putting his hand on the palantir. According to the Chronicles books, he was supposed to see Smaug leading legions of Orcs and Trolls in battle. Gandalf tells people that he fears such a thing happening, but the audience being able to see it would have been nice.
Also, the scene were Galadriel, Elrond and Saruman was going to be an even bigger deal at one point, with the group being joined by Celeborn and an army of elves from Lothlorien. Azog was meant to be there too, which more orcs. Presumably this was cut so that it didn't take away from the main battle and so that people didn't expect an army of Lothlorien Elves to turn up at Erebor, which is a shame because I would have loved to have seen Galadriel having a few words with Thranduil!
YES I ALWAYS WANTED TO SEE MA BOY CELEBORN

Now I feel bad that more Beorn footage was not used, he was a major player in the battle of the 5 armies in the book, he actually rescued Thorin, during the battle, althoughThorin passed away afterward due to his many wounds.
a lot of scènes look realy good and should have stayed in the movies, I would love to see the speach of Gandalf af dale
indeed that one seems to make no sense that it was not inluded at least in the extended edition :(
The acorn scene is just amazing and it's basically my favourite scene in this trilogy... So sad that's not in the film! :(
It doesnt make sence since Bilbo plantes it in Hobbiton and it becomes the party tree.
I LOVE THE ONE OF BOFUR WITH THE CANDLE!!!
It was a sin to don't use the Smaug destroying the bridge scene and the Beorn's fighting scenes, those ones were best than many other battle scenes on the cinematic version.
Right. Beorn killing the troll an then roaring in triumph looks epic
Right!!
:"(
I'm really! crying right now!
Would love to buy an extended edition with all this footage as well. Hobbit fan-bouy to the end.
👍
I only just learned that there was an extended edition of the Hobbit. Kind of a joke, since it was two movies too long.
Planting the acorn, Gandalf’s speeches, and Beorn helping in the Battle of Five Armies should’ve made it into the film. The funeral also would’ve been the perfect post-credits scene.
The music really and I mean really ruined this.
They might have had to put it in for copyright reasons.
But really.. it really.. really did.
Lots of super early footage has no audio or was talked over in behind the scenes material. This is the main reason. It would be silent
A few tracks are from the hobbit
Boy did you get that right!
Some of this deleted footage is included digitally remastered in a fan edit called M4's The Hobbit _ Book Edit. Its one 4 hour film that is as faithfull as possible to the book, cutting and trimming all the extra or made up scenes, delivering a more than great final outcome. You should check it out, especially everyone who want to see a real Hobbit film. Highly recommended!
Bilbo in the treasure room is me getting food out the fridge at night
Why didn't they just delete the horribly written love scenes, and leave these in? Would've been quite a bit better.
Seriously:
"Why does it hurt so much?"
"Because it was real."
That's literally a line in the third movie...
Yeah the "on the search of the arkenstone" scene would have been cool to sed
Just delete any fucking scene that pairs Tauriel with Kili.
Because Thranduil is a good person and the movie doesn't show that before. This scene is important for understand who is Thranduil.
@@Adigamehmet : No. Not really. They could have come up with another way to show the compassionate, understanding side of Thranduil.
@@tiaaaron3278 Just delete Tauriel.
Am I alone in saying that I think it's good that the acorn scene isn't included because the thought that he actually plants it in the shire is better
this would be better with no music :P
I admit that I cracked up a bit when Bofur fainted. 😀 And I love it when Thranduil says to one of the Dwarves, "Only the ones who annoy me." There's my sassy Elvenking. 😘
I would have liked to see the following scenes in the movies:
1. The Dwarves are brought before Thranduil;
2. The funeral for Thorin, Fili and Kili;
3. Thranduil gives Legolas two days to find Tauriel and return to Mirkwood;
4. Bilbo plants the acorn in Dale;
5. Gandalf reminds Thranduil that his wife left behind someone who is far more precious than gems: their son;
6. Beorn fighting in the form of a bear; and
7. More action scenes with Thranduil.
And you really didn't need to include the music.
Was that music really freaking necessary?
Many of these early scenes especially cgi ones are with no audio, or were just talked over in behind the scenes interviews. He did leave in ones worh audio. All others were literarily mute
@@Kacpa2 But did he have to play the music over the ones that _did_ have audio too?
for copyrights yes
i’m offended by the removal of the beorn and thranduil action sequences considering how much alfrid we got and how much of that useless crap with the elf girl..
For smaug that’s fine the scene they used to replace that deleted one was pretty cool as well..
all those thranduil scenes would have been fucking EPIC!
Right!!
I wanted more Lee Pace in these films 😅
I do too. I just found out he’s gay though. 😩
The last scene - Gandalf's speech - should have been included in the movies. He is really holding a good speech.
And I found the music nice. Some scenes there is no sound, so this is not bad actually.
Why the heck didn't we get all that Beorn and all that Thranduil!?! Instead we got Alfrid. 🤬🤬🤬 Who made those decisions!? Who authorized them!?
There should be a petition that The Silmarillion will be an independent film, if it ever does get made.
DeeGee Kay please no it wouldnt be good in a film
Silmarillion has to be a series
And now we see how that turned out
it has to be a series, not a film
@@jonouchitheforbiddenone5921 if you're referring to RoP, that ain't the Silmarillion as a whole.
These scenes with thranduil are sick
why did you publish this with the music being so loud? re-upload this pls
to avoid copyright issues and having this video removed!
@@ela_ww7 : It didn't have to be so loud, though.
Please, Why did they not use that scene with smaug burning the persons who tries to escape, and those with Beorn, I don't understand they said that the three hobbit films would last 3h each, in BOTFA it's just lasted 2h44, Imagine with 16 min more, the fantastic scenes we could have had.
Probably would of been too "scary" to kiddies who watch it
And so, the scenes with blood in EE, isn't that too scary for children ?
Well these days everyone tries to kidafy everything and try to make it suitable for children
+TheOfficialPhoenixTV Correct me if i'm wrong but i don't think the hobbit (the movie)was made for children...
+Animely0 indeed they were not considering Tolkien himself said the Hobbit was not meant to be a childrens book
More actions scenes with Thranduil !!!! >
So that is where Legolas learned his troll-slaying from. Anyhow, many of these scenes are important - more so than some scenes that were not cut - and that's a shame. It's good we at least get to see them here.
I particularly find the scene in Dale important. You can see the Dwarves are sad for what happened there, it seems to me the full extent of what could go wrong is dawning on a few of the younger members of the company.
The scene where the Dwarves get out of the barrels is also in my opinion quite a nice touch. We see them battle-worn and all out of sorts from being in them for so long. It adds some much needed physical vulnerability to them that we did not see much of in the final cut.
Obviously Thorin's funeral is something that should never have been cut. Beorn in Dale (I assume) would also have been a nice touch, even if it somewhat detracts from his character.
Too bad we can't see more badass fight from Thranduil🙁
I don't like that there's the prevailing music, can't hear the scenes' sound, and I know there was!
Having said that, I can't believe they deleted Thranduil's conversation with the Dwarves and Legolas in Mirkwood, the *inclusion of the poem was so awesome!*
so many wasted shots if not only for the money, the hobbit should have been a very astounding movie.
theres more to take in than money, these were already filmed so it WOULD be a waste of money for the studio to use. another factor is time, if scenes drag on too long or if the movie goes past 2 hours and 30 minutes its more often than not bore the hell out of everyone watching. another problem is the studio and director with clashing ideas. the studio may believe that a certain scene or two is unecessary or conflicts with the story and remove it. of course the director hates the idea but the director cant do anything against the studio
Would of loved to see Beorn destroy that troll.
funny thing, im not a fan of cgi that much but smaug beorne and thranduils parts that were deleted were awesome wish theyd air it
They definitely should add in all the footage they have. I always wondered what purpose azog had when he was at the river instead of Bolg. I'd like to see that added in.
The river with the barrels? That’s Bolg there.
They had such a good material and still, director decided to give us Super Mario Legolas xd
😂
Super Mario Legolas was one of the highlights of these films.
The studios brought in the bad stuud, that people don't like, such as tje love story, the studios wanted the love story, and the director, PJ, had to reshoot the scenes. Maybe these scenes will include in the 4k remasters, maybe LOTR too! That would have been great!!!!! 😀
@fee foo I have changed a lot since I wrote that, but I still keep to that the love triangle was a studio interpretation, because there are severals proofs for that, and every fan of The World of Arda, its books and films, should know that, to be honest, but some may have missed it, and that is completely alright. Do you have any proof or worthy source(s) for your argument? I do not believe you, which means I disagree. The things the major part of the fans disliked were studio interpretations ;). Compared to the masterpiece The Lord of the Rings (which had (almost) none studio inputs that were accepted), The Hobbit had lots of inputs, because now they were several studios (because of the rights to the material - it is a long story for a another time), and some of the inputs, such as the love triangle, were forced to be "accepted" by Sir Peter Jackson, unfortunately.
I would have prefered that this rediculous scene was cut for time along with Alfreds cross dressing and instead substuted for Thorins funeral and Beorn fighting making it into the official theatrical cut ( as a whole the films arent bad I just think that some rediculous cgi and inconsistencies were added into the plot, I personally would have been happy for two movies instead of three but thats just an opinion.... I guess thats whats so great about the fan edit community, even though I can never find one that cuts out only the bad and keeps the good scenes, never was a huge fan of legolas being in this trilogy at all, especially in the barrel escape ).
Truth is there should have been several hours more of these!
The great Bowman misses - 09:38...
If the scene where dwalin fought to get to thorin made it into the actual movie, i'd fr cry
I can't believe they removed precious things!!!
Those clips were very precious!!!
I thought I remembered a missing scene from the goblin town chase. Why they cut that, and kept other silly stuff who knows
What the hell is on the table at 1:20? A kind of unreleased and unauthorized "pneumatic" weapon?
!!!
Haha! The compressed air duster canister. 😂 Nice eye!
The unrendered cgi scenes look like a N64 game
Its early proof of concept barebones animation to be refined and hand animated/mocapped later. Its pretty much first thong after story board for such cgi scene. Also n64 isnt "that bad", these tests have no lighting, almost no textures(everything is nade with solid colours) n64 has both and usualy better animations. It's closer to very first polygonal 3d games like Starfox on SNES.
I hope we will get another cut of the battle of the five armies with less battle scenes and more personal scenes like the funeral and gandalfs speech.
They were going to explain the jewelry at the start of the extended version of an unexpected journey too but for some reasons the scenes got cut
The cgi is so impressive in this trilogy! Must be saving a lot of time making the cool creatures and backgrounds! And the actors may not have much to work with, but are so talented in their character potrayals!
oh god fighting Thranduil
3:51 this looks like one of those tie-in movie games, ngl i would love to play it
Looks like PS2/WIi
that scene at 0:41 showed the directors attitude to this trilogy
Some of these scenes are in the extended versions.
This is absolutely FANTASTIC! It's like watching an entirely new movie! Do the dvd's contain all of this as well?
Thanks for making that
Thanks for this vid! Very interesting!
Most of these aren't deleted but just B-Roll footage or Pre-Vis.
+MaxeBaumannFilms2013 , yet still there is NO TAURIEL EXTRA SCENE at least with a proper farewell or mentioned of her in anyway.
+MaxeBaumannFilms2013 Not to mention, the Stephen Colbert cameo is actually still in the movie..... Unless you where referring to the part of the cameo with Peter Jackson.
is it just me that is thinking that in years to come they could add 10-20 minutes to a new release, maybe they could call it, the hobbit the ultimate editions
No. I would look forward to the ultimate editions.
Oh god no! It's already two whole movies longer than it needs to be!
i'd love to see that, they left out so many amazing scenes
Thank you. This was very nice to see. Some scenes i hoped , they did added it into the film ;) .
Can we get a Beorn movie please? LOVED him!!
bro this is ain't the MCU
All tge scenes where Thranduil's fighting are at least amazing!!
7:25 I would’ve LOVED to see Bilbo say that in the movie!
was that Peter Jackson in the Basket in Laketown at 0:40? O.o
No
+Eric Kanns Yes
what now? xD
Look closely its obviously Peter doing a secret role in the movie.
like in the second one :D
its really sad that they deleted these scenes
We could've seen more of Thranduil
I wish they did the entire Beron scenes as one big awesome ending for him! be sick to she him go full tank mode! :D
junglisticluxx See*
Seriously, the ones of Thranduil, Bilbo panic attack should have added in, instead we got the fricking useless annoying Alfrid’s😑
When Bilbo started panicking I felt that.....7:11
Thanks so much for this video, I have not seen most of these deleted scenes before. I did not realize how much did they remove from the trilogy in the final edit. I understand why they did not keep some of them (there was a lot of action already, that is why they probably left out epic fight scenes of Thranduil and Beorn), but I'm a little sorry that more speaking or funny scenes didn't make it into the movies.
0:31-0:34 was epic, the she-elf flying
COULD YOU PLEASE MAKE THE MUSIC A BIT QUIETER I HAVE TO SCREAM TO UNDERSTAND MY OWN WORDS
+TheParadox3000 Yes, the music is too loud. Sheesh
Can we please get the FULL Extended versions of the Hobbit? Peter Jackson and Weta Digital? PLEASE? PLEASEEEE
3:56 man, Bilbo is going full on Mortal Kombat on that spider
I want them to made one more version with all these scenes
13.00 if it was on film, Thranduil would have been a big hero than Legolas, and would have had more more fan than his son.
Those scenes should not have been removed, they are interesting, especially Thranduil fighting riding a Troll.
still bitter about the barrel scenes. also ty for uploading this.
Kein Wunder das der letzte Teil so kurz war
The Dwarfs In Dale should have been kept it. They would have to then cut the Bomber Barrol Scene and the Fish scene
wow, some of these moments are epic, especially bilbos battle with the spiders.
Good thing they did not add the scene where the dragon destroys the bridge.
If it already freaks out in computer animation then just by adding that scene, it would be turning a fantasy movie into a horror movie
It was great thanks
Most of the first half of the video, I'm glad the scenes were scrapped, but holy shit that Dwalin rescue scene would have hit so hard
You missed a lot of unexpected journey stuff, there is some in the appendices, not new scenes, mainly additional shots and stuff.
I think with these delete scene the trilogy will be more better
Bilbo vs Alfrid... whaaaaa?? Thank Eru that scene was in neither versions
MaidenofBagEnd That's kinda misleading, it isn't really a fight, more of a quarrel.
I see that many of the deleted scenes were filmed in Greenland.
smaug destroying the bridge to land actually explains everything, why keep that out of the movie?
Explains everything??
cool la vidéo continue
Oh thank you, now because of this video I can imagine how his fellow Sindar Elf (Celeborn) in his battle mode
