Bet you didn't see this coming :D
No, but it doesn't surprise me. Why not go even smaller. How about Micro Armour? That's about a 30-second video right there. LOL
Why not lol :D
Its so small I can't see it without my glasses on ;)
LOL! At least you can use glasses, I need optivisors! 😉
@@SmallSoldier Actually I use both! 2X (or number 4 lenses) optivisor with my reading glasses LOL

Big oof
I've built a few of these models there kinda fun to practice on. Dare you to super micro chip it.
15:00 how did I do? :D
@@NightShiftScaleModels magnifier glasses needed! :P
If there was a bowing at the model gods feet emoji I would click it 10 times!
I was going to build Zvezda's 1/100 Maus, this gave me some more inspiration haha
Now I want to build that one too!
@@NightShiftScaleModels It's a big boi for a 1/100 model, about the size of a 1/72 BTR-80 or Cromwell
@@notbasilcount1059 Yup a 1/35th scale Maus can fit like 4 Pz I tanks inside :)
Make a starter kit with only 3 extra paints or weathering tools. Also no air brush.
1/100? wow, amazing! :D
I love these 1/100 Zvezda models.
I love it... those little paint drips are so cool.
You make my skills better, along with practice. I thank you! This simple video will now be a standard for me to follow.
I have three 1/100 scale T-34s on my desk right now and I've been asking myself "Can I chip the armour on these? Can I use rust washes at this tiny scale?" and now this video has answered all my questions.
Good eyes and a steady hand Mr Kovac, always helps with something of this scale. Nice "little" model 👍🏻
Could you please do a 1:72 British FV214 Conqueror Tank or a centurion? I’d also love to see a helicopter in 1:72 scale sometime!
Keep up the good work, every video is worth a watch and helps me with my own model painting techniques.
If he needs just two people i agree with you we need some teatanks
And so do I
I have a half-built 1/35th Conqueror from Dragon. One of the most inaccurate and time consuming kits I've ever attempted. I just hope I'll finish it one day.
I practice painting , detailing, weathering etc on this scale as the models are normally quick and easy to build and then give or sell my models to wargamers after😊
Great video as ever , thanks
"sell my models to wargamers"
You're giving me some business ideas :D
Night Shift most wargamers aren’t modelers ( sorry for generalizing!) and often just do a basic ( by modelers standards) paint job to get their army on the table. Aim to build a platoon size set as they like to buy in sub units. Often now , War gamers come to my to build a specific model for a specific event or game. Some of the Bolt Action game armour models are beautiful and rare in the traditional modelling scales. I’ve also done a lot of work . Team Yankee is also popular.
I got started by taking my small Cood War armour to play a Bokt Action game and when they say my armour they were asking me to do theirs. ( my standard is not that high!) I also try to encourage them by explaining and showing techniques, recommending your videos etc.
I know there some war gamers who take great pride in building and painting too! We all have our own thing! I used to wargame but it got too complicated for me ! Lol
@@NightShiftScaleModels you can probably sell 1/72, 1/100, and 1/144 scale vehicles in platoon sets.
You can also do interesting small dioramas as objective stands.
thank you so much for this! i play a tabletop game called flames of war and it uses lots of models in this scale, and i had no idea how to make them look good. but now i do, so thanks!
IT LOOKS SO FREAKING AWESOME! I LOVE IT!!!
Great tutorial. As a 1/72 scale fan, I found it very useful. Thank You! ;)
Very interesting. And perfect timing! I have just finished a wargaming model and in process I referred to your videos about thousand times :)
I've just begun an Emhar 1/72 WWI MkIV, so this has come at the perfect time, Martin, cheers mate. And well done on another fantastic paint job. I can't wait until part 2.
A great video, so informative. You are a true artist and so inspiring. Thanks and respect.
Excellent idea of painting a small scale vehicle. Thanks!
My favorite tank is the IS-2 I have just bought a 1/72 scale revell model, this video was quite useful for me....
Nice one. I have the BMP1 and M2 Bradley from this series. I picked them up to have something simple to work on when I was in between big projects. You have motivated me to pull them out of the stash and make them look real nice!
When the vapors of the paint start to kick it...
Looking forward to the finished product, looks great so far!
Great stuff again, thanks for putting this together. Liking the change of pace also, this makes me want to go grab one or two 1/100 armor kits to bash around with some practice... excellent!!
Great vid Night Shift! I have a bunch of 1/100s from Zvezda I've built, I'm tempted to come back and try your tips on them.
Looking good! Can't wait to see how you treat the tracks.
OMG I love you 😂! Thats more my scale! Not because I try to build a Tiger 1 in 1/700 right now, but normally its 1/72 or 1/87. Now I need you to upload every friday.
I'm thrilled you adopted Ambient Occlusion. And it makes a lot of sense in this context. Nice video.
As always very interesting and informative. And the result looks awesome.
This is great! I personally like to built these mini scale models ( mostly because space is very limited in my appartment...), and this video taught me alot! Thanks!
Brilliant, can't wait to see the next vid.
NightShift!:) Thank you very much for your creativity, thanks to your videos I discovered the world of modeling! I watch your videos from the first, and always look forward to new ones! Thank you for all the techniques you showed in your videos! Sorry for the bad English.
You sir have got a new fan!!
(Very) Fine work! Thanks for posting!!
Thank you , Martin .
Looking Awsome!
Nice model! But now... I require a 1/35 KV2 turret in a 1/75 KV2 hull...
Awesome! Very cool.
The little tank is so awesome
Awesome work mate for a little kit turned out great till next time have a good one
Keep the amazing videos coming my friend. Loving all the knowledge. You should do a basic armor modeling supplies video. I have a collection of table top mini style paints. But would love to know how to get my foot in the door to weather them like this!
Militarily awesome videos my man!
Love it. Extra points for the AO pass :D I'm a 3d artist so i had quite some fun when you mentioned it :D
Martin, you´re the man! beaty tank man...
awesome man!!! waiting for 2nd video!
Awesome as always. Varnish question was very important to me, wanted to ask you that many times.
It's the most frequently asked question on this channel so I felt a very strong urge to talk about it :D
I know this isn't something super detailed, or the same quality as you are used to with the larger scales, but if done well like this, a whole table of these micro-beauties looks amazing! No need to look down on Wargaming miniatures, they get just a lot of love from their owners, just like any model!
I love 1/100 zvezda so much!
Thanks mate for this video, I recently bought one and could not for the life of me find a good way to paint it.
Did a M4A3 "Tiger Face" Sherman 1/100, these little ones are fun
Amazing video! I love these models as they are usually fast weekend builds. I think that there are some non-toyish kits of this scale out there. As you can tell from my profile picture, I have built an IS-2 of this scale, and I think it came out ok... I love the videos, it might be cool to build one of these kits in a future video. Keep going with the models as they are really inspiring! 😀
Nice
Very cool
there's more to the concept of ambient occlusion than what's being done here which is basically a drop shadow.
Wikipedia has a nice paragraph that explains what is done.
"Ambient occlusion is most often calculated by casting rays in every direction from the surface. Rays which reach the background or “sky” increase the brightness of the surface, whereas a ray which hits any other object contributes no illumination. As a result, points surrounded by a large amount of geometry are rendered dark, whereas points with little geometry on the visible hemisphere appear light."
Simply amazing ... has whole USSR military ;). Fantastic job Martin!
We love you uncle!
Another week completed! It's bad when I know it's Friday when night shift has a new video out.
What an awesome surprise this was :)
I guess it's quite a change after that Chi-Ri :)
Great video as always. The 4BO you used on the sharotank looks cooler than the 4BO from Mig, IMHO. Looking forward to your next video. 👍🏻
Yup Mig's way too desaturated so it needs to be adjusted with filters. On the other hand, he also has a "real" 4BO color which is pretty good but a little bit on the dark side.
Yeah! Those are the best relaxing things ever
Superb!
Friday nights best nights coz new Uncle Night Shift vid.
I’d love me some Tamiya IS-2, both 1/48 and 1/35 😁
Exactly the process I have applied on my recent 1/72 models. Thanx to you. Except I just can’t do brush chipping. Sponge to the rescue
I agree with the ambient inclusion term 100% you can see ambiance inclusion... at work in my tech demo of soft suspension on my channel. i got sick of 3d modelling so jumped ship 3 years ago 😂... but resin as 3d printers are now good i started modelling again two worlds collide 👍
Uncle Night shift from the future sent me here.
Invest in facemasks and hand sanitizer Uncle!!!
Awesome!!!!! I still want to see you do something fantasy, like a robot or futuristic armor. Basically, anything armored and mechanized - but not anything real. I think it would be great to see how you interpret something with no factual reference. I really want this! I know that most of your fans / subs are historical, but I think it's the mark of a professional. I think your exploration would bring the same discussion into a different light - this will (I believe) not only bring you new subscribers, but separate the technique from the medium. In other words, make an abstract of the talent and acquired skills. It will bring learning to us all.
In any case, I loved this video! Thank you so much for making it!!!
I definitely HAVE to try something like that!
@@NightShiftScaleModels Yeeesss!!!
didn't really noticed the size until you pinched it with your fingers lol
really nice job on such a small model
even at 1/100th scale your amazing!!! i actually have a 1/100th scale mk4 male ww1 english tank.
It may be simplyfied but for the scale the detail still impressive
Those tracks are coming straight from hell^^
THX Very much for your tutorial, and the tank Is Amazing! Any 1/56 Tiger tank tutorial next time? Pls 😊
Once again, night shift, AMAZING job. I've never built anything smaller than 72, so I wonder how much easier or harder this would be.
roughly the same, just faster!
Ammo 1 shot is just Stynylrez re-packaged. I love Stynylrez primers. They're the best acrylic primer on the market and it's almost impossible to screw it up.
Better than Mr. Hobby Surfacer? I still think that is the best primer ever :)
Mr. Hobby is Lacquer based correct? It's great stuff too but if the smell bothers someone then acrylic is the way to go. Stynylrez is awesome because you can actually sand it without it rolling and it bonds way better than any other acrylic primer I've used.
Yes, Tamiya is excellent and I still use it as well. But if you haven't tried Stynylrez yet give it a shot. I was skeptical as well but was sold when I experienced how well it sands out, being an acrylic primer.
@@SmallSoldier Yup Mr. Hobby is lacquer and the surface it creates is top notch. The smell is really obnoxious though. I didn't like the Tamiya primer though, when trying to polish it after a few hours it started peeling off. Never used it again. If this Ammo one shot is Stynylrez then I'll probably try it again in the future. I really like the convenient bottle and applicator.
Nice!
Micro Armour should be next! You could do a whole battalion in a 30-second video. Or a diorama that's small enough to fit on your "Night Shift" stand. 😉👊👊
The entire Kursk battle. 50 000 000 tanks, 10x10m diorama base.
Alright! Let's do a collaboration video. I'll do the Germans, you do the Russians. It should take about as long as the actual tank battle to produce.😀
Really Nice Martin - Purse from a pig's ear...the detail on those tracks tho - yikes - (I see lots of mud in your future). Can't wait to see the finished product.
Did you notice in the initial preview how he used paint and weathering to simulate individual tracks? I thought it looked brilliant!!
@@BrailleScale Hats off to you modellers that can work that small - even 1/48 intimidates me. I could never get it to look half as good as Martin's.
@@timothyoffenbacher6190 me either!! Amazing what he can do and how easy he makes it look
Yup the next video will be -among other things- about creating "fake" individual track links with weathering :)
super, mam pre dioramu 6 modelov 1/100 od zvezdy...diky za navod ako ich urobit fakt zaujimave
Awwww, yeah! IS from my motherland!)
*sigh* time to go to eBay again.
Love your videos!
Круто ,. "Деды" рулят !!
cool
6:23 IS-2 is happy.
Yeeeeesssss, my favourite tank! I love you, nightshift! ❤️❤️ No homo
I love your videos soooooo much:) thanks for making this:) (First)
You win the internet for today!
Night Shift 😆😆 Good joke 😀
Seeing that you primed over the old paintjob its a good time for a question i always wanted to ask. Why didnt you strip the paint? How many layers a model can take before it starts loosing detail like bolts and seams, especially like this 1/100?
Good question. For me, the point where I feel like I HAVE to strip the paint down first is when the model has some texture on it, i.e. mud, loose earth, debris etc. If it's just an airbrushed base coat, varnishes, filters, oil dots, washes, even chipping, the surface is still very (don't wanna say perfectly) smooth and there's no need to strip it down. A different situation might be if I brush-painted some camouflage patterns on top of the base coat, this might lead to some micro paint build-up, but it usually doesn't happen as I try to make every paint layer thin and smooth.
You'll actually see something similar with the next model on this channel.
Adding a cast steel texture...I can only hope you show how that 's done. I want to apply it to the Pegasus Nautilus....
It looking good, good job man! What's shipping color for a panzer 1 grey, i don't know .
Dark rust-brown like I used on the Type 5 Chi-Ri. It has to contrast nicely with the grey base coat.
The speckling looks very nice. Can it be done in larger scale, too? If not, what would you substitute for it?
Speckling is a technique that spans across all scales and dimensions. It's a timeless technique. :)
@@NightShiftScaleModels Thank you! Keep up the great work!
More small scale more i like and subscribe..
Did you ever consider doing some weathering and then adding the white markings?
Night Shift: Did you do the cast markings the same as shown in your other videos? I have some 1/100 m4a1 Shermans i have to paint that would look a lot better with that texture...
Yay, I comtributed to the channel vocabulary 😂
Check out some other computer graphics techniques, maybe you find inspiration.
Hello my good Sir, I have a challenge for you for a future project...
Now, I don't know if you remember me, but I asked some questions a little while ago now about techniques for use on wargaming miniatures. So seeing this glorious video today, I had a little thought along with a friend of mine.
I challenge you, to build, detail, paint etc etc, A games workshop model tank (Rhino, Chimera, or if you're feeling brave, something bigger) using the scale model skills you possess, to elevate into godly levels of awesome.
*Throws gauntlet on floor*
Maybe a chaos vehicle for the glory of the dark gods?
@@sol8627 oh my, let's not over face the poor chap... If he decides to accept the challenge, he'll have enough on his hands with Games workshops level of "detail" as it is 😏 *sarcasm*
please say "Get to the chopper" in your best Arnie voice
Bolt Action gamers salute you. I don't, at least not for this. I'm not a Historical Wargamer. as a scale modeler on the other hand, this I approve.
Two whole people!
You should really do a tour of your room
Wow.
