While most of your suspension parts are off, this is the best time to replace bushings and joints that are worn out. Might as well do it now then later...
I had the same problem with the bolt breaking and having to cut it off. It was such a pain and made my installation twice the time for ,me to run around and look for bolt, someone to help me cut it off, etc...
yea it's really easy. it took me 4 hours by myself with the filming...all i needed was something to cut some bolts off and some extra nuts and bolts to put on (rear camber kit)
the rear is cambered inward a little. thats with them screwed all the way together. but there's more than enough clearance if they weren't cambered at all. and the front is barely off-center from what they came...i have 17"x8" wheels..
Looks almost like the exact same suspension as a 90 integra, though the front upper control arms have better mounting than my car. yours won't bend as much when you hit a curb like mine did.
if u take the screw out of the control arm that the shock is connected thru just have someone stand on the brake drum to push it down far enough for the top of the shock to come out of the hole
How did you get the spring off in the back in the first place. When ever I get that bolt off the spring is to bad to pull off from the controll arm. Do I have to take out a screw from the controll arm to get the spring off?
u can use aftermarket springs with stock struts but u cant adjust anything on the stock ones...u just have to buy springs that u would want your ride height at. that's why i bought this set, i can adjust anyway i want it
i didnt have to. the car rolled straight just fine...but when i put my stock suspension back on for most of winter it was all jacked up...but i recently put the suspension back on and it's fine again
so you can still turn the shock body with the bottom bolted on to the fork assemblies on the car? By just turning the gold part of the coilovers (threads)?
I have to install the same coilovers and camber kit to my 2000 civic but i have a question for you. Did you adjust the front and rear camber or u used them as they came?
i had no problem...as long as you take the bolt all the way out that holds the fork to the coilover it should just slide in. maybe just spread it open a bit with a screw driver
im turning 17 on the 28th and i plan to get my first car i PLAN to get a 92-94 eg hatch and do a swap i was thinking of a k20 or k24 others have told me to save a lil bit more money and get a H2B is it worth it???? Pros/Cons???
You most likely need adjustabke camber arms or maybe just lower it more. Mine use to do the same and when I lowered it some more the problem was solved
I have an 03 rsx and i ordered skunk 2 coilovers(the cheap ones) w/o knowing that the stock struts wont hold up and itll ride like crap so now im researching will koni yellow or kyb agx be better to match them with..any sugg? Also is your camber kit for front and rear or just rear?
I don't know much about Hondas- 2000 Honda civic VX sedan I had to do an emergency manuver as a vehicle was turning left into me as approching the off ramp interchange. I was able to avoid the BMW but the car was incredible soft (suspension wise). As I steered hard left and braked all my weight shifted forward: like a seesaw- the hard part was the counter steer- when I counter steered the car "reversed fishtailed" and the only way to allow the car the stop reverse fishing tailing was to let go of the steering wheel and let the car balance out. I'm not happy with such a weak suspension. I want to go with a stock ride height to avoid unwanted attention. What is the best option under $1000? (I'm more experience with rear - wheel drives. This is a commuter gas saver for about 3000 miles of drive a month.)
I have coilovers on my Honda no stock struts or shocks just adjustable coilovers. My car is really bumpy! Im thinking on getting a spring strut combo kit can i still keep on my coilovers or take them off and will i need a camber kit?
i want the fun and experience of doing something like this myself. i'd like a subaru...but i want to do a couple of motor builds first....turbo then all motor, before i just go and buy a fast car
thanks for the comment. i figure i'd do a video since i don't really see any on youtube on any coilovers for a honda. more videos to come, as soon as i get some more motor parts :)
well your coilover is kinda the same thing as a spring on a strut...so if u get a spring strut combo then yea you'll need to take your coilovers off to put those on. and camber kits are always good to have
haha!! did you notice i didn't show putting that on in the video? that's because i put it on after i turned the camera off and before i put the wheel on.
i got blox street series. their good but for some reason the left rear sound loose when i go thru bumps even if i move the car up and down fast just body weight i could hear it sounds like knocking noise i triple check everything. can it be a bad coilover?
no, u can adjust them while they're on. i adjusted my back ones a month ago after just taking my wheel off and undoing the lock collar and turning the whole shock
if i ever do sell the car then yes i will keep the parts...but it will probably be a while before i do that....since i'm about to have a motor built to put in it
+Geovanni Dominguez well i like the skunk2's a lot! but really just depends on how much you want to spend and what kind of things you're going for like just being low or like a racing coilover
its probably about 4 inches lower i'd say...i didnt measure but that's how much lower it looks than when it was stock. i do have a short outcome video on my channel, check it out
@fidelortiz6641 all 96-00 should all fit the same. The only one that wouldn't fit is if you bought ones for the civic si because their front control arms are different.
Thanks for the tutorial. This is going to be very helpful tomorrow when I install my f2 type 1s after I pick them up.
Having dirty old parts next to the new shiny parts make the new parts look soo much better
How do you know where to adjust the camber to, depending on how much you lower it. Does the camber kit have markings on it?
OMG im in love with your tools!
lol they're alright.
Great job with the video, where did u buy those performance parts at
goood vid i just got me diamond racing so now i gotta camber n lower ma car this vid is great .. make another vid of outcome how low did u go?
i like this video bro! can you make one video showing how to adjust the coilovers?
yea it's really easy. it took me 4 hours by myself with the filming...all i needed was something to cut some bolts off and some extra nuts and bolts to put on (rear camber kit)
idk wether or not it will be much smoother if u get the camber kit to. but they are adjustable if u need the wheels the way u want them
the rear is cambered inward a little. thats with them screwed all the way together. but there's more than enough clearance if they weren't cambered at all. and the front is barely off-center from what they came...i have 17"x8" wheels..
Looks almost like the exact same suspension as a 90 integra, though the front upper control arms have better mounting than my car. yours won't bend as much when you hit a curb like mine did.
thanks for the heads up....got more than enough money tho lol. I'll be boosting my single cam too when i'm done with this one
mines droped a little over 3 inches i'd say...and i've never tried tein flex. and i think u can by shorter springs for skunk2 to make them even lower.
yes u can get springs for stock shocks that lower your car.
if u take the screw out of the control arm that the shock is connected thru just have someone stand on the brake drum to push it down far enough for the top of the shock to come out of the hole
How did you get the spring off in the back in the first place. When ever I get that bolt off the spring is to bad to pull off from the controll arm. Do I have to take out a screw from the controll arm to get the spring off?
hey CHAD. where is a good website to buy lower control arms or anything like that? tow hooks, strut bars, camber kits, short shifters...so on.???
When buying these is it better..as in will it ride smoother with the camber Kit installed also?..
u can use aftermarket springs with stock struts but u cant adjust anything on the stock ones...u just have to buy springs that u would want your ride height at. that's why i bought this set, i can adjust anyway i want it
i had an ace hardware not to far away so i got all my bolts from there, thank god
i didnt have to. the car rolled straight just fine...but when i put my stock suspension back on for most of winter it was all jacked up...but i recently put the suspension back on and it's fine again
Hey man what size rims & tires are you running on those? They look good
on honda's front 96-00 and some integra's i think...but exhaust wont fit on hatches
so you can still turn the shock body with the bottom bolted on to the fork assemblies on the car? By just turning the gold part of the coilovers (threads)?
Serious question . Do you need lower control arms to lowers a car or can you just lower it with the coils ?
I have to install the same coilovers and camber kit to my 2000 civic but i have a question for you. Did you adjust the front and rear camber or u used them as they came?
i had no problem...as long as you take the bolt all the way out that holds the fork to the coilover it should just slide in. maybe just spread it open a bit with a screw driver
Greart video. It really does make shit simple. Thanks
im turning 17 on the 28th and i plan to get my first car i PLAN to get a 92-94 eg hatch and do a swap i was thinking of a k20 or k24 others have told me to save a lil bit more money and get a H2B is it worth it???? Pros/Cons???
0n my 95 civic 2dr the front is rough i have the coilover adjusted all the way up but bangs out on the smallest bump got a fix for me on that
You most likely need adjustabke camber arms or maybe just lower it more. Mine use to do the same and when I lowered it some more the problem was solved
so far how do you like the coilovers? thinking about getting them for my eg.
I have an 03 rsx and i ordered skunk 2 coilovers(the cheap ones) w/o knowing that the stock struts wont hold up and itll ride like crap so now im researching will koni yellow or kyb agx be better to match them with..any sugg? Also is your camber kit for front and rear or just rear?
hey bro i just subscribed. im thinking of getting skunk 2 pro-s II coilovers this week. how do your ride? when hitting a bump is it hard hit?
Did you use stainless steel bolts? (4:13) Stainless is very brittle, bad idea for anything suspension related...
Nice vid! Just wat I orderd yesturday, except I got pro s II coilovers :/
I don't know much about Hondas- 2000 Honda civic VX sedan I had to do an emergency manuver as a vehicle was turning left into me as approching the off ramp interchange. (I'm more experience with rear - wheel drives. This is a commuter gas saver for about 3000 miles of drive a month.)
Arther Casillas If you want stock ride height just go with a KYB strut and decent spring.
no point in buying coilovers If you don't want low..
did you have a problem sliding the strut through the fork? This is the problem i'm having with mine.
I have coilovers on my Honda no stock struts or shocks just adjustable coilovers. My car is really bumpy! Im thinking on getting a spring strut combo kit can i still keep on my coilovers or take them off and will i need a camber kit?
its a little bumpy, but the roads where i live there's like a crack every 20 feet. but i dont mind the ride
hey man got a quick question. are the control arms worth it. i was going to get some for my 00 hatch. do they make a big differance?
did you have a continuation video after this?
Oh okay so if I drop it without a camber kit it's going to camber by its self ?
the curved camber kit is for a different year civic
Is this pretty much the same install for an 88-91 civic sedan? If not do you know of any tuts for them? Thanks
have you tried the tein flex? how many inches drop does skunk2 lower your car? thanks
i want the fun and experience of doing something like this myself. i'd like a subaru...but i want to do a couple of motor builds first....turbo then all motor, before i just go and buy a fast car
what does subframe and control arm do? is it for better handling
YO I PUT MINE ONE AND FOR SOME REASON WHEN I TURN THE TIRE JERKS A BIT WHEN I TURN DID YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEMS AFTER THE INSTALL
starting at 6:25- the town burned a witch JUST right outside in the street!! crazy!! =P
did u make sure u tightened the front camber kit allen bolts?
thanks for the comment. i figure i'd do a video since i don't really see any on youtube on any coilovers for a honda. more videos to come, as soon as i get some more motor parts :)
put some anti seize on those control arm bolts it will prevent it from seizing up again , cutting suspension bolts is not fun
well your coilover is kinda the same thing as a spring on a strut...so if u get a spring strut combo then yea you'll need to take your coilovers off to put those on. and camber kits are always good to have
I know this is going to sound stupid but this would be the same install as a 96 hatchback right? I just wanna drop it no camber.
are these the same ways to put coils on in a 90 hatch ef/ed?
yea should be the same. get the camber kit to make your camber at 0 degrees once you lower it
Own a 95 civic ex and for some reason my front aftermark coilovers standard strut wont fit in, on my strut fork. Any tips?
If you have a pic of what you're talking about i could try and help. Send to chad480906@hotmail.com
haha!! did you notice i didn't show putting that on in the video? that's because i put it on after i turned the camera off and before i put the wheel on.
How did you get the bolt out from rear control arm my bolts head snapped off
i used a grinder and a sawzall to cut thru the bolt. then i had to break the welds on the threaded piece and replaced it with a new bolt and nut
hey how r the coilovers holding up..thinking about getting some for my 05 rsx
quick question do you need modified Lower control arms for the Pro c's? cause i have a wagon im putting them on
How smooth is your ride now?
the bigger set is from sears, i cant remember the name of it & the smaller one is a kobalt from home depot.
can I take the skunk 2 coil overs off my 98 civic and put them on my 93??
any idea what i need for a 88 mazda b2600?? i can't find any camber kits
i got blox street series. their good but for some reason the left rear sound loose when i go thru bumps even if i move the car up and down fast just body weight i could hear it sounds like knocking noise i triple check everything. can it be a bad coilover?
i will post a video tomorrow its storming here now. if anyone can help me figure out what it is.
"integra coilover problem".
hagen the great did you tighten all of the collars really well?
chad tuggle i removed the coilover out 3 times checked everything over and over. i havent had time to record it. i will soon.
chad tuggle i uploaded the vid. integra coilover problem.
u mean did i have to replace my stock struts?
what car is this? and what do u think of this set up ride wise?
Do you have to take the shocks off to adjust them ?
no, u can adjust them while they're on. i adjusted my back ones a month ago after just taking my wheel off and undoing the lock collar and turning the whole shock
would it be the same way to do it on a acura integra 95?
Mn, where's your tuner spirit?
if i ever do sell the car then yes i will keep the parts...but it will probably be a while before i do that....since i'm about to have a motor built to put in it
How long did the process take? Minus the difficult bolts?
i could probably do it all in a couple hours if bolts came off easy
have you had to replace them?
what did you use to cut the bolts, what size where the bolts you bought?
an electric grinder that had a wheel on it for cutting steel
Alright thanks, having the same prob as you :/
Good shit...keep it up
what coilovers would you recommend on my honda civic 2004 ex coupe
+Geovanni Dominguez well i like the skunk2's a lot! but really just depends on how much you want to spend and what kind of things you're going for like just being low or like a racing coilover
i wouldnt think so, if the suspension is similar to mine then just take an extra bolt out so the whole assembly should drop
it looks beginer friendly, ive done basic bolt ons and etc......but is somthn a beginer can pull off? i basicly doubt my skill level.....lol.
when you sell your car will you keep ur mods on the car?
its probably about 4 inches lower i'd say...i didnt measure but that's how much lower it looks than when it was stock. i do have a short outcome video on my channel, check it out
Does the skunk 2 pro s II fit a 98 Honda civic ex, I’ve been having trouble installing ?
@fidelortiz6641 all 96-00 should all fit the same. The only one that wouldn't fit is if you bought ones for the civic si because their front control arms are different.
how's the ride quality after installing these?
Nice video!
how much does this whole set cost
You could just use coil overs but I think if you just use coil overs it causes your wheels to bend in
Did you need to put in new control arms?
Another Gamer no. They'll work with oem control arms
Bro what kind of lower control arms were those
ss0abe skunk2
D bro hpw much did that setup cost u easy gran
are these stiff at all when you drive? like do they take bumps well?
yea they arent too bumpy when driving. and unless it's like a big bump or pot hole it's not bad either
okay sweet! thanks bro!
+Freddie m you're welcome!
LAMB OF GOD!!!! and good vid man.... thanks.
great tutorial... but it probably would have helped to have some pb blaster on hand... lol
How low can those coilovers go??
Use wd-40!!!! Makes the whole process of removing and installing sooooo much easier!
When I did all my suspension everything was seized. I had to cut the control arm, the original struts, and my tie rods. 2002 Honda.
it can be a little bumpy at times...but i have lower profile tires to. My brother has a little bit thicker tire and his ride is a little better
so all the mods are universal then?
do you need that camber kit?
No you dont
