I shaved my head when my mom was undergoing MAX radiation therapy, and chemo that had to be stopped early because it almost killed her.
The happy news?... she responded excellently to the treatments, her cancer, which was inoperable, shrank from the size and shape of a very large mandarin orange, to a small piece of dead scar tissue the size of a medium sized grape.
She is gone now, but her cancer never came back... she died of simple 'old age', 14 years after her diagnosis, which docs gave her a rough timeline of MAYBE 4 years, since it couldn't just be removed.
I thank God every day for that blessing.
If you know someone with cancer, or, pray not, that you ever get it yourself... know that it's not the way it was years ago... treatments are successful much more often than in the past.
My Mom was already stage four (final stage) when she was diagnosed, and went on to live her life to its true, natural end.
I'm a Canadian, and our national Canadian Cancer Society has, for as long as I can remember, their motto has always been..... "Cancer CAN be beaten", and we (the human race), are getting closer and closer to that becoming reality... Already, some types of cancer are almost always curable if caught in time.
If your wondering who/what to make your major yearly charitable donation to... might I suggest your local, or national cancer societies, who do more than just fund research, but also build inventories of wigs to match any hair color and style, fund or even host support groups, help caregivers, etc, etc. your money won't be wasted if you donate to a real, valid, cancer society.

And, the happy ending to this song/story, is that her biggest dream, dancing with her true love without any cares came true.

because it is real......it actually happens....it happened to us.....she is ( thank you merciful God ) 22 now .....5 of her "besties" from the tenth floor @ Dallas Childrens hospital ? are not....they are gone........and its not fair .....please donate to childhood cancer research ! She would not have made it 20- even 10- years earlier ......PLEASE - help St Judes stop innocent angels sufferings and deaths ....please *** I gain nothing from this request ...just beg you to support the cause that saved my angel - please

Rascal Flatts is the band that got me into country music. Their early stuff especially is jaw droppingly good. If you're looking for a few more sad ones, check out I'm Moving On, Bless the Broken Road, What Hurts the Most, or Here Comes Goodbye. But if you wanna jam, you nailed it on Life is a Highway. But check out Yours If You Want It, This Everyday Love, or Love You Out Loud. And one more, Stand.

I shaved mine as a sign of support for my sister-in-law...she was starting chemo. She didn't lose her hair but I froze my butt off!!
Rascal flatts is my favorite group they have so many great songs each one tells a different story. When I went through the worst time in my life when I had to bury my 6 yr old daughter I fell into a deep depression and started drinking my life away one person took a rascal flatts song called I won't let go and wrote the lyrics down as a message to me. Alot of people who are reacting on here to rascal flatts are always lead to their well know hits like skin, here comes goodbye, what hurts the most, and bless the broken road and while you should check those songs out I would also tell you to react to I won't let go, come wake me up, I know you won't, how strong are you now, words I couldn't say, and I can almost just to name a few of their many great songs
Beautiful song, great reaction. This one always makes me cry, I lost my Mom and my Uncle to Cancer so I always think of them.
Every Single Time I hear this song I cry.
It was beautiful.
I was driving to work early in the morning when I first heard this, and I was crying about 1/3 of the way through it. I had to pull over, and then called the radio station to tell the DJ that he was extremely cruel to do that to us so early.
It's a song that if someone isn't touched by it, they're not paying attention to the song.
